Edegaru looked at the other ninja inside the water. They looked impressive and full of potential. He was sure that their kill count would reach the hundreds. Edegaru then turned around and followed the Kazekage into the forest just a bit away from the water.

Village: Kirigakure The Mizukage stopped but didn't turn around. He looked off into the forest instead. "The instructor of the Academy has fallen ill and it just so happens that those young nins' graduation is coming up. I need you to test them and determine whether or not they are fit to become Mist nin. And if you do deem them fit, then they shall be in a squad with you." He sighed and turned to face his ANBU leader. "I know this isn't in your job description but we have no other Jounin in the village and I know you are responsible, which is why I made you ANBU leader in the first place. But that's besides the point. When those nin graduate you shall be their mentor from then on." He said as he awaited Edegaru's reaction. His tone was more serious than it was with the children around.

Edegaru's eyes looked to the forest floor then back at the Kage. "Yes, Mizukage." Edegaru said with his deep voice. He did not know if this task would be pleasant but he did know that he would complete it nonetheless.

Village: Kirigakure The Mizukage smiled as he pat Edegaru's shoulder and walked past him. "Thank you Edegaru." He walked back over to the kids in the river. He sat down by the bank and watched them. "Please, come join us." He said loudly so Edegaru would hear.

Edegaru turned and saw the Mizukage go back to the bank with the young ninja. He looked around the forest and heard the forest animals around him. He then began to remember one of his missions in the same forests of the land of the water.
"Move east. The target is on the move." said a ninja with a the mask of an ocelot holding down a button that was on a black band around his neck. He was running through the forest. It was dark and only the moon lit the ground. Four other shadows were following the ocelot. An ANBU squad made of five with the ocelot ninja as its head. "The target is moving north. I repeat the target is moving North!" said a voice from the radio. "Where are they taking her?" Ocelot thought to himself. The squad moved swiftly through the trees but they did not seem to catch up with the enemy. After a few minutes, they came to the waterfall and the enemy ninja could be seen standing near the edge. Ocelot landed a few feet away from the enemy "Halt!" he said into the radio. The other ANBU ninja then slid up behind Ocelot. They all had their faces covered and were dressed in black. Their faces were covered by distinct masks. Each designed off of an animal just as Ocelot's was. The enemy ninja did not wear any headband. They were rogues but skilled nonetheless. They must have been if they had the ANBU after them so long. One of the rogues held a girl with short, brown hair. He threatened to throw her over the edge with a gesture. "No!" Ocelot removed his mask revealing his white eyes and silver hair. "What do you want?" the unmasked Edegaru asked. One of the rogues came forward and smiled under his face mask that covered up to his nose. "I want...chaos." he said before tossing the girl over the edge of the waterfall. "Hiruko!!" Edegaru yelled as he watched her disappear over the edge.
Edegaru stood in the same spot that he was in that night. Instead of the rogues, he saw the Mizukage and the young ninja talking with such leisure. He looked down at the ground and frowned. He then looked back at the others and walked over to join them.

Village: Kirigakure Zerus noticed Edegaru's expression and figured he had been remembering some unpleasant things. This had been going on for a while now. He knew of the ANBU leader's situation since he was always in his mother's business and she knew anything and everything about the village and it's missions. "You miss her, don't you." He watched the kids but his words were directed towards Edegaru. "Those memories..." he paused. "You can't let them haunt you. We all have something in our past that we would rather not remember. But sometimes we must move on. I share your pain, of losing the one you love. But remember, there is nothing you could have done to change her fate. Edegaru...never regret anything and you will live a peaceful life." He closed his eyes and listened to the river flow in front of him. It was peaceful and calming.

Edegaru looked at the water as he heard his Kage's words. He knew that his emotions would never influence his performance as a shinobi. He had learned to feel less after his loss and now his mind was so much clearer and focused. The sunlight reflected off the water and sparkled brightly. Edegaru closed his eyes and could hear the water running off the cliff and falling with a roar at the bottom. What he saw however, was the image of Hiruko and her smile. Edegaru opened his eyes and said "Yes, sir."

Village: Kirigakure "I'm glad you understand." He said as he kept his eyes closed. "We should start heading back soon. I'm sure these students can't wait to graduate."

Edegaru looked at the Mizukage and nodded. He then looked at the young ninja still in the water. He thought about what kind of test he would give them and how he would execute it. He nodded to himself when he decided on what to do. Once they all returned to the village, he would let them know his simple yet difficult task that they would have to accomplish.

(I made my profile to be a Genin cause I was told to start as one. I assumed I'd already finished the exam o.O)
Akisame couldn't help but chuckle at the words of his Kage and his friend, Marciel. Smiling behind the mask, eyes crinkling up at the corners to show his amusement, he dove back into the water and began to spin in place. For as long as he could remember, which was only back about six years, he'd been able to breathe underwater. Since he'd been accepted into the village, he'd kept himself hidden behind these clothes, always keeping others from seeing him without them on. He wasn't sure how the others would react. But again, it was off subject to wonder about that. Letting the gentle sway of the water's current rock him back and forth, Akisame breathed in deeply and exhaled slowly, bringing peace to his mind.....For about ten seconds. Then he turned and threw himself upwards at incredible speed, launching himself high into the air as he broke the surface with a splash. As he flew, though, he hucked a small package at Marciel's face, fire trailing at one end as if it were about to explode.
the funny thing was that it wasn't really going to explode. The package was meant to convince Marciel to turn into water, and when he did, the package would strike him and burst into powder that would quickly be absorbed. What was it? A mixture of pink food coloring and strawberry flavoring. Damn right, he was turning Marciel into Kool-Aid.

 Marciel Suigetsu The young student watched as his instructor had departed for the moment, to speak with someone. Marciel could never remember the man's name for some reason, but it didn't seem to matter anyhow. He was in and out of the village always, on the Mizukage's orders anyhow. The instructor and the Anbu were gone for the moment, and that was when Akisame had decided to make his funny move. It was newer than most of his tricks when it came to the Suigetsu child, the package flying. He noted the blazing back end, almost like a comet, though he jumped. Landing into the river that trailed from the base of the waterfall.
When there was no detonation, Marciel surfaced, shooting a glare to Akisame, though it didn't last long. Zerus had returned with the Anbu, and the idea of the exam was quite enticing to the young shinobi.
"Ya heard the man, Akisame. You may not sweat it much, but I do," Marciel commented, slipping from the river to shore.

Edegaru watched the ninja fool around. One had tried to play a trick on the other. It was conduct very unlike an assassin. "Are you both done? We need to return to the village in order to see what you are made of." Edegaru said to the young ninja with a serious expression.

Rawth watches from a distance with curiosity, but he did not want to be seen , he just wanted to watch and see what was going to happen next.

 Kenji stood at the bottom of the waterfall. He noticed the ninja at the top of the cliff so he jumped up to where they were then walked over to the Anbu leader and asked him. "May I join your group? I have nothing else to do." He said putting his hands in his pockets.
