I know what you mean. Most people are drop-dead surprised when they find out that I'm an anime fan. They're like, "You watch anime? But-b-but you have other hobbies!" (No disrespect to the anime fans who don't, but you know, they tend to obsess a little.)
I wonder if I am cool online? I don't think I'm cool IRL, I'm probably average. xp blaugh

lilchibiusa GreenInkling I never thought about that. It would be weird not to like people IRL who I do like on Gaia. But I guess there's gestures, tone of voice, dress, and attitude that don't come off very well on internet posts.
I probably have a tendency to sound ditzier in real life than online, 'cause I have a very expressive way of talking. And my answers don't come off as polished as when I can take my time writing things and editing them before I post. sweatdrop On the other hand, I think I'm a lot of fun to be around and that doesn't come off well on the internet! I have a tendency to stumble over my words quite often when I speak. sweatdrop It's kind of annoying to me, so I know that it must bug other people. I've never met anyone irl who I've met on Gaia first, so I'm not sure how it would work. Once I had a dream that everyone from On This Rock, the Catholic Guild on Gaia, met in real life. We're all pretty close, for internet aquaintances. But then again, it's easier to trust someone who appears as text on a screen. Anyway, in my dream, the meeting backfired because everyone was really mean and not at all like they were on Gaia.

Let me rephrase. I'm not the coolest person online, but I'm definitely cooler than I am irl.
Few people are ever surprised to learn that I'm an anime fan. It's probably because of my t-shirt collection. blaugh
That's an awful dream Green! sad I would hope that a group of Christians would be a little bit nicer to each other if they really met irl. I can assure you that I'm actually a very nice person irl. I just tend to not let people get words in edgewise. sweatdrop

A loser would be someone who has absolutly no social skills and no personality. stressed
And yeah, reasonantscythe, I get frustrated at people who think that, too. Especially people who won't touch anime with a ten-foot-poll either because "it's cartoons and cartoons are for children!" or "only weird people watch that stuff". scream Makes me want to scream!
*deep breath*
In reality, some of the good anime is more thought-provoking, original, and clever than all the stupid remakes movies they're coming out with in t heatres nowadays.

In reality, some of the good anime is more thought-provoking, original, and clever than all the stupid remakes movies they're coming out with in t heatres nowadays. I am at the bottom of the social ladder, but those of us at the bottom tend to hang out together. biggrin And thanks for saying that I'm interesting to talk to! whee I HATE it when people start talking badly about anime! xp It made me kind of mad that they made fun of anime on an episode of The Big Bang Theory. I like that show! crying But yeah, I completely agree with you on the depth of some animes. I'm not saying that Pokemon is the deepest anime in the world, but ones like Elfen Lied and Code Geass are really though provoking. I mean, some of these keep me awake at night as I think about them. I've always told my parents that the reason that I like anime so much is because most have continuing story lines and deep plot structures. You don't see that much in the US unless you're watching soap operas.

Did somebody say SOAP OPERAS? That reminds me, I haven't gotten to watch All My Children in days and days. sad
I don't know about the whole anime thing. I love to watch it, but I also like to make fun of "anime obsession" sometimes. (Knowing full well that I have NO room to talk since my main obsession is a CARTOON, "Alvin and the Chipmunks!") And besides that, my "making fun" is good-natured, not vicious in the least. It's gentle teasing, not a verbal "tearing down," if that makes sense. I tend to crack jokes about a lot of things, especially stuff I like. I have a tendency to even sit and MST3K my favorite shows if it's an episode I've seen a few times before. (Or if it's one of my favorite soaps, but one of the characters is doing something monumentally stupid. Again.) But then again, I'm just weird anyway. razz Just ask Chibi. mrgreen

I'm trying to post more often. I seriously only go on Gaia usually for the daily chance. But I try to pop in now and again. ...I am a facebook addict. It's partially because I post links and share news stories with my friends, the majority of whom I know IRL, and I also play a few apps. I've decided to not touch any farming games, but I'm currently in a cooking game that's probably just as bad. ^^;; Between facebook and playing pointandclick games, especially escape the room games, I often spend too much time on the computer as it is. ^^;; But Chibi, the announcements you send are working, because I probably wouldn't be here right now otherwise if you hadn't sent out event invitations. And me wanting to show off my new outfit. I got pretty inspired having dress-up days, heh.

You're a really cool person. biggrin But now I kind of feel bad about not having dress up days this time. The problem is that we don't know the nature of the official event yet. We might come up with something once all of that is revealed.

That's okay, Chibi, I'll probably change my outfit at least one more time during the event, 'cos this isn't really truly Halloween-y. I'll be around for the event, I'll just try really hard to pop in from time to time instead of just clicking through the daily chance and then going back to facebook right away. ^^;;
