I've been drawing basically ever since I could hold a drawing implement. I didn't really watch tv when I was little (except like... Discovery) so I drew from life.

Took about a year of classes with a Chinese woman when I was... 10? maybe? but I was pulled out because she just wanted me to draw for competitions. of course I loved the idea because I was winning some money but my mother thought she was exploiting me for self-promotion /:

took some painting classes at the YMCA for two years after that but I quit because the teacher would only have us paint landscapes and i was kind of sick of painting landscapes.

after that I was on my own. met some people in middle school who introduced me to manga art which I kind of adopted but I've since moved more towards realism (although I am far from there ^^; wink

but art's always been more of a hobby than a vocational calling to me so I haven't invested that much time into bettering my skills even though I've been at it for so long XD

Honestly, I can remember thinking in pre-k that I really loved art and wanted to draw when I grew up... Hehe, that or become some form of clergy. = w =;;

But ummm, I'm just self-taught; probably why I could really use some work on realism... Anyway, I'll get time spans in which I really just want to doodle (mostly sorta like artist's block) and others in which I really want to delve deep and try to improve my skills.

well manual things, doing stuff with my hands ...and drawing or sketching is something that I do since I was 2 or 3 , I used to do my older sister`s homework when she started to go to the school- aka drawings mostly, I JUST LOVED IT.

Maybe that is why my sister can`t draw anything , not even a circle -
studies made me apart from arts for MANY YEARS

After getting nice/high scores at school I asked to my parents to let me go to a "taller de manga" when I was 12. I started and studied the basic things >_> (for 3 months) of course, came out drawing awfully!!!

;^;

then my whole life since 12 - 18 went like => skecth, doddle and just black and white stuff- manga style. Not some much into "color" P:

After I went out of school, I started college and I was studying human medicine for 2 years and I told myself! - "NO NO, Mariel ...ARTS is your pasion!

So I left medicine and studied 1 cicle of graphic desing - told myself " NO, NO you are into "ARTS" - no designing or brands // but I felt in love with publicity//

I went to a "pre- center2 where I started to draw "bodegones"
those kinda of composition with bottles, a bust and fruits. In order to enter to "beaux arts school" - National school of arts in my country.

After 6 months of hard work and the "amused" reallity - if you draw manga or anime style YOU WOULD NOT ENTER to the school.

I was like "WTH!!" but I needled it!
I was studying so happy for a year, and thn

tehy closet the school, so I went back to college or university and started my new career or major.

But I`m looking for come back to beauxs arts this vacations, >w<
I MUST FINISH ARTS or I will lost my spot at the school and I have to take the admission exam again and is a complete NONO!!

oh! yeah that is my life btw >w<

Like a lot of other artists I know, I've been drawing since I was very, very young. I've always tended to draw whatever I found interesting at the time, but I soon discovered anime, and was so captivated by the style of art, and stories that accompanied them, that I found it much more attractive then other styles at the time, though back then I was quite good at realism. Myart teachers stopped liking me after I got into anime. >>;

Nonetheless it's been a staple for me since then, and I only recently branched out a bit. Something that I personally believe has stunted my growth as an artist, and I will need to overcome.

I have no formal training other then art class in junior high and elementary school. I'd like to have some formal training at some point just for my own benefit and to increase my skill and productivity. I mostly leqarned through imitation and experimentation over the years.

hah, thinking seriously on it I actually remember I used to dravv a crap ton of space ships vvhen I vvas 9-12. Then vvhen I hit the age of 12-13 I met some people that drevv anime and I began to dravv that instead (very very very poorly xD). Then around the age of 18 I stopped dravving almost completely. It isn't till this last fevv months that i've gotten back to it. I am mostly self taught. I did take lessons in highschool but my teacher didn't like anime or anything cartoon based at all and only taught her style of art vvhich vvas very boring imo xD I dont even really remember vvhat it looked like any more other than it vvasn't THAT great.

Koichi: I had that issue with art teachers too. A lot of the teachers I've had carried their personal opinions about art over into the classroom. So they'd focus on one style, and all others were subpar. never had a teacher that like anime, or appreciatedit for its merits, and the skil neccesary to create a beautiful in-depth peice.

One day about 4 years ago i simply decided wanted to learn how to draw. And since that day i've been doing it. xD Sometimes there was several months i didn't do even one pick, and at the times managed to do at least one fully finished piece with bg a week (plus tons of sketches). but not once during hat time did i think about stopping drawing completely. When thinking afterwards i believe manga (in my case not anime since i didn't start watching it for a good while after founding about manga 6 years ago) had some influence to the decision since i always adored the pretty illustrated stories those were in completely own level compared to the cartoons i had read before it. :3
I haven't never taken any art classes, if we don't count those basic courses at school so it means i'm quite much self-taught. Have been planning to take at least some anatomy courses one day since i really need help with it. lol

I've been doodling ever since i could hold a pencil. Mostly alien landscape, i'd draw jupiter in chalk on the sidewalk constantly.

Mt real passion started honestly when i discovered oil paints.
Sadly, i never really, LEARNED anything from anyone, just figured it out on my own. I've always loved impressionism.
The city where i live is COVERED in beautiful landmark architecture; i can never resists painting it.

I kind of, busk my art on street corners, if you know what i mean. I paint impressionist portraits of iconic places in my city and American tourist think a street corner painter is pretty much the coolest thing ever so i sell paintings to them and collect tips, ect.

I've been doing it near 7 years. Not long by any means, but It's where my experience lies.

About 2 years ago a grabbed my pencil crayons and started to doodle people. I'm not very good yet, so i probably shouldn't be; but i made the jump into anime stylization soon after. It's more an external hobby to my true passion of architectural and landscape painting.
But people seem to prefer than on gaia anyway xD

Hmmmm, ever since I was in the 5th grade I think. At that time I really got into drawing. I started developing my own style at that time too. Before that it was just circle heads and triangle dresses!
I learned by... I don't know. No one ever taught me or anything. I watch alot of tv and I drew some of the characters. Like I used to put the circles that sailor moon had in her hair in my drawings. For what reason? I don't know, but I got used to it. Now I hate drawing fan art! It's tough. crying

I started to draw when I was little I remember when I draw my first something like stick people ( they looked like wormmys) my dad was so happy about it ^^. But in the first place i was watching how my mom was drawing little people for me and my twin sister. And then I started to draw something like my mom's works.When I was at 5th I finded anime pix and I started to collect them and 1 year later I started to draw anime then I was at 6th and I drawed till 9th high school and then I decided to go to art school. And now Im going to art school for like 3 years this year Im finishing art school yay! And my works looks much better before art school. :]

Both of my parents always were good at drawing, ever since I was in Kindergarten I always drew, every day. I remember drawing Clifford The Big Red Dog during class and everybody goes WOAHH!!! xD
When I turned 8 I started getting into comic-books. Then the comics influenced me to start drawing, I would draw Wonder Woman constantly. Then I got into anime after I saw Speed Racer, my very first anime show.
Later when I turned 12 I started watching more and more anime and mastered drawing it pretty well.
Now i'm 13 and i'm getting more into drawing more realistic people.
So I've basically been drawing ever since I was born practically xD
