It doesn't really matter to me. I've read a nice number of yaoi with shorter semes, and it's still adorable. So long as the uke is more adorable in some way then the seme, then it's fine. But then there are ones that have the seme more adorable, and the uke rather possessive. e_e
For real life situations, I suppose it's the same. I've seen plenty of couples that makes it seem as if the shorter one would be the seme. Well, the taller guys were shyer. >>;
Personally, I'm on the shorter side. And I would prefer my seme to be taller. But I'm a seke so... <_<;;

Hm, mew. I don't think it really should matter, but there is the usual stereotype for the uke to be shorter. But hey, yaoi is yaoi, height really doesn't matter! xd whee Mew! >w<

No, I don't think it should. xd It's stupid anyway, like saying only... blue eyed people could only play a certain game or something...

Traditionally/stereotypically, they're both tall, but the "seme" is usually taller, even if only by a bit- like a few inches.
But being me and disliking such stereotypes, when I was hammering out of the details of the LGBT-themed book I am writing at the moment, I made the extremely dominant character drastically shorter than the apathetic, submissive one. Just cause I like to try to break conventions like that. ninja

I actually think it makes the yaoi much funnier and more entertaining when the Uke is the tall masculine looking guy but acts like a lil kid and is very emotionally immature

Its not a matter its a MUST!
In a yaoi, the height really does matter I mean would you like to see a short skinny nerdy boy thrusting behind a 6-footer muscular dude? No right.
That's my personal opinion though.

Yeah it does matter in yaoi. Since a lot of yaoi uke's and seme's are determined by height, there's usually a HUGE difference. I have yet to read where the guys physical appearence appear to be the same. Actually I have, and switches are refreshing in a yaoi story.

Although I love a twink-ish uke... I don't think height matters.

I don't really care. I think it matters. Mind you a dramatic size difference would be odd, but I don't like that stereotype of the size and stuff.

Considering the fact that I had a dream last night where a shorter, dark-haired guy was topping, my answer on this should be obvious. (I was more surprised by having a dream with m/m in it than anything.)
I don't care for the height-rule at all, at all. Especially when you see fanart where the character's relative heights are altered just to fit it, ugh.
