actually a french horn player gave me trombone lessons and brought his french horn once and played this song with me they do sound close and i like there sound about the same but since i play trombone i guess i have to go with trombone

edit cause i dont feel like posting again to reply to the post under me: i have heard a pretty much professional french horn player he gave me lessons and i still like them both the same but i have to choose trombone cause i play it and its what started band for me

I'm curious to how many people have actually heard a professional soloist horn player, or a professional soloist trombone player. Cause I think one of the main reasons why horn is loosing in this debate, is because the only horns people hear now a day are crappy middle school players. However if you compare both instruments played at a professional level, it might change some peoples opinions.

i've heard both played at a professional level, and although horn does sound incredibly epic, especially with some nicely performed rips...i still think trombone wins it...but that might be because i like jazz...and jazz trombone is cool biggrin ...never heard a jazz french horn though o.O

Hate to break it to the french horns, but truthfully trombones dominate your sound quality any day. xp (just look at the username...you know which side I support wink )

Actually, our first chair french horn player has been playing some jazz stuff recently, and he has a lot of music from this jazz french horn player. /late

um......nope. considering that you can't even spell trombone, your vote goes to the horns.
