Sukomo I think guard should have their own as well as percussion AS WELL with brass, woodwinds, and even strings. i agree but they don't want to have so many threads..it'd be like cluster ******** ha ha. I mean it'd be bad ace but it'd be all cluttered...i don't think they'll change it...the might be a possibility but its unlikely.

There are perfectly good reasons for Guard to be grouped with percussion, and if they dont want to put "Like, only four new threads" just because someone who doesn't even deserve to call herself a percussionist cant stop crying about being put with the guard, they don't have to.

Sukomo, I don't understand how you don't consider them a part of the band just because they don't make noise. They work, they breathe, they count. I've heard our guard during practice and the only difference with them is that they count differently than the band.
Saying they're not part of the band is like saying percussionists aren't in concert band because they don't blow into their instruments.
I myself am a percussionist, and I've messed around with our guard's stuff (unknown to our director and the guard directors, though...they'd kill me) and I can tell how hard it is. After a while, those flags get heavy.
I can't imagine having to swing them in time through a whole routine through the entire show, while smiling and doing everything else. o_o
They're just as much a section as the rest of us.
After all, some people say pit isn't part of marching band since they don't march. But we work just as hard.
And honestly, if you were in my pit in marching band, I'd have made you pull the marimba up the hill every day after practice for being so ignorant of other section's work.
So, pardon me, but shut the heck up. Your unfair opinion of sections is not going to change our subforums.
And maybe the guard at your school isn't very dedicated, which might explain your weird opinion. But our guard is the only part of our marching band that wins any awards anymore. So everyone is proud of them. They're a section, whether you believe it or not.

And they're your opinions and your thoughts.
You want heavy? Try doing a whip set with the bottom bass xd
And percussion can still be considered in concert band because we make music as well. We have notes.
And I'm not in your band. I never will be. So why mention something that you could do but wont ever get the chance?

I think it's better to just leave this topic moot. It will never get anywhere and it just causes rifts between sections. better to just all respect eachother and keep doing what you love doing and don't worry about others.

Sukomo but you hardly CAN spin on time. rolleyes And guard isn't part of the band You dont play insturments or play music. And like I said, you're only there part of the time. lol Um, excuse me but n r band guard IS ther the whole time. We play r instruments during concert season. & sum of us r better than the ppl who play year round. & as a whole r guard stays on time. @ r big competition we go 2 every year ppl were worried bout the guard messin up r bands score but u no wat? We got the highest guard score @ the competition. & r band didnt. Percussion got the highest 2 i think. Idk no bout ur school, but r guard & percussion hav respect 4 each other. & a good point was made earlyr bout percussion & guard havn a lot of extra practices. So mayb u shud figure out exactly wat ur talkn bout b4 u go sayn stuf like that.
