Kals is questing again!lawl Omni, you can't even feel a tampon unless it's not in far enough or it's too big for you or it's the wrong absorbency for the level of your flow at the time. Absorbency too high = irritation due to the fact that it slurps up EVERYTHING and is still kinda dry when you pull it out. Also if you're allergic to any of the materials in it, you'll get some irritation no matter what size you use or how deep you shove it.
Random tampon trivia: A regular absorbency tampon is capable of drinking an entire glass of orange juice in a very short amount of time. PM for details!

I hate tampons. I guess it's not true for everyone, but for me they're definitely VERY uncomfortable.
Besides, what I wear during my period is the least of my problems. I have absolutely horrible cramps. Bad enough that I'm prescribed birth control to weaken the cramps, I'm prescribed pain medication for it, and it often makes me ill for the first day or 2 of my period. So yeah, I don't care quite as much what I'm wearing as whether or not my meds are working razz

I'm so glad that there's a lot of ladies here who use pads. whee I tried using a tampon a couple months ago and my mom, having reach menopause and who of which no longer has her periods, has a stash of the cardboard sort in her bathroom.
Needless to say, it hurt like a b***h and I don't care how sopping wet I was as I was bleeding (I was on my period, don't worry). A lot of girls I talk to hate pads because they're bulky, when to me, the only time they're uncomfortable is when I've been sitting on an awkward position for an extended amount of time.
@Neme: Oh man, I had some horrible cramping when I first started having my period when I was younger. Omg, it sucked. One day, they suddenly vanished and I've had vomiting and back aches ever since. Oh. And fatigue, along with moodiness. biggrin

Ya you can totally feel the string hanging out too, and if you put it is it doesn't stay! Then you wind up peeing on it and have to take it out because that's just nasty and it hurts when it comes out too soon. Not to mention if you don't manage to get it in right, it feels like it's falling out the entire time you have it in there.
Chex, you're not the only one mortified of those damn plugs!

Neme: You remind me of my friend. Her period lasts for two weeks and she has such bad cramps that she is complete incapacitated for those two weeks, she can't move for the pain. So she is on the pill in order to help with that, but her period is still extremely painful. And she gains a lot of water weight on her period. razz Poor girl... I should give her a hug today just because I can....
GRM: If I pee when I have a tampon in, even if it's in place properly and everything, I'll get a wick effect with the string and the remaining space left in my tampon will get filled with pee and then I have to take it out. D: I hate those things. That's why I only use them for dire emergencies.

Kals is questing again!Yeah the wick effect = changing the tampon every time I pee. But I don't pee nearly as often as I should so that's not a big deal.
GRM: It sounds like you might be allergic or sensitive to cotton. most people can't feel the string at all. And trying to tuck the string in is a bad idea, it might go missing and then you have to fish the whole thing out with your fingers... not fun.
Neme: Lucky you, I am not allowed to go on the pill no matter how disabling my cramps are (sometimes I can't walk straight, and sometimes they make me puke), because of how they increase the chances of having a stroke. Since I already have a heart condition and I get migraines really badly, my risks of stroke are much higher than the general population, I don't need to multiply it by birth control pills.
Always Ultra = not bulky at all, but it's gross to wear just a pad and bleed all over myself. PM for details!

I change my tampon whenever I use the bathroom. If I know the next time I'll need to go is soon, I'll just use a smaller tampon so there's no trouble getting it out. Or I'll invest in the Ob with the "silk effect" or whatever they call it. Then the tampons are slippery as hell, but work for such instances.
I very rarely have cramps. When I do, it's just for the one day and taking an Ibuprofen helps with any pain.

I can't sleep at night because of the horrible cramps. And I always have to sleep on my back otherwise blood will leak to the side. (And yes, I do use the night pads with the wings). I despise sleeping on my back...
I hate periods. Period. sad

Wong, do you wear pants when you sleep? I do just so my sheets don't get blood on them. Erm, if the blood leaks when you sleep on your sides, you must lay pretty funny for that to happen.

You know, I always thought maybe I was too sensitive down in that area, but I figured everyone was. I can't wear pads with wings either because the wings chafe my legs
I find that wearing a thong with a pad works perfect for me, Nothing gets around the pad, the blood won't leak towards the back because there's a pad there, I'll sleep on my stomach anyways, and it's more comfy.
As for cramps, The only time i ever got bad cramps when when I took tylonal(sp?) for them, I couldn't move! I'm lucky that way, I have a lighter than normal flow and I don't usually get nasty cramps. Well I get some pretty sore ones in my first few after a pregnancy, and that flow is usually a bit heavier too.
Ok now GTR said that OB doesn't have a wick.... is that even possible?!

Usually I place an extra towel on top of my bed just in case though.

*blush* Where I come from, people just don't talk about things like this outside of "this happens, so be ready." I'm not used to this kind of openness... Anywho, I use pads because I don't like the idea of putting something manmade into my body... I avoid medicines and other invasive products as much as possible, because I think that if it was meant to be in there, it already would be.
