Meh that sucks. I live near San Francisco so everybodys pretty cool with the way I dress. I think I dress the oddest at our school, but I only get bad comments from the local druggie jocks.

I dress pretty randomly from day to day. Sometimes I'll be all gothed out and other times I'll be 'normal' jeans and t-shirt faire. When I go to a store at the mall in 'normal' clothes, sales-people are nice to me, ask if they can help me and they do help me if I need it but otherwise leave me alone. When I'm all gothed out they follow behind me like, three feet, look over my shoulder, and try to make sure I don't steal anything. Meh.... I hate it... I'm like 'Hey. Lady. Give me some space to breath already. I'm not stealing anything. If you don't belive me I'll empty my purse and pockets and strip down for you. Oh, by the way, that little preppy cheerleader girl over there just snuck a cd into her purse. Oh, there she goes again."
I've always had problems in school. When I was in middle school I wore my hair in a sailor-moon odango style (Yes, I'm a nerd, but hey, it was fun). I'd have people make fun of me for that, pull on the pigtails and what have you. In highschool I got into goth even more than I was in middle school and I'd have problems with people accusing me of having weapons or being a druggie or something. I was like "Dude. Closeset things to weapons I have would be my needle and thread for my cross stitch. I don't heven have sissors, or the art knives I have in the art room. As for drugs, well, I do have an inhalers but, hey, I have lung problems. I'm allowed to have it. Doi." then the guys would go "ZOHMGEE! Yur a lezbeeaine!!!one one! Yooz don't likes the guyzzz!!!" And I'd be like "Umm... No.... I like guys... I just don't like stupid idiot jerks who have more drugs in their system than their hippie parents did in the 70's... Bastards.... Oh, and learn to use proper grammer."

I dress lolita every day,and even though alot of idiot say stupid coment about me,i ignore it.

But my teachers never hated on me for it though. Im a very well behaved student so no one ever says anything. But if one ever did i would be so pissed off.I expect that kind of behavior from stupid kids but id think adults would be more tolorent.

Comatose Pixie
I really don't see what's wrong with wearing a tiara.

Anyways, I wore this really cute dress my parents actually let me buy (i'm not allowed to post pics though) and a maid's headband to school one day, and everyone was like, "You're such a goth. You poser." The worst was when the most idiotic person stomped on my books on the ground saying things like, "Go back to the circus! You don't belong with normal people,"

It's really sad things like this happen just because people want to be original, stand out a little, and be able to say, "I'm different!"

aaaw that's really sad crying

I downloaded some pics of Gothic Lolita on my computer, and my dad was poking around in my folder and found them. And the next day I asked him if we could go to the mall, and he said, "Why? Do you want to buy goth clothes, goth girl?" And then laughed at me. -.- At least its not as bad as what some of you have gone through...then again, it was my dad.

Ive gotten looked down apon because of my "lolita" complex/ attitude. I dont belive in making friends with just anyone, especialy if we have no common interests. Friends are nice, but I dnot NEED them. I am perfectly fine alone, so I stand alone alot in some casses with people I have no intention of making conversation with, and you know what they do!? They call me Emo because I like being alone.... heloooo Im like making daisy chains in the school feild while our PE class is playing soft ball and they call me EMO!!! Ive never been so outraged!

When I made my first headdress, my dad walked in on my sewing on some lace to the edges, and he's like, "What the hell is that?!" and he started laughing. Then, I heard him talking to my mom right afterwards, and he's like, "Have you seen what your daughter's making?!" I felt really akward, but I don't care...

At least it wasn't as bad as some of your other stories. I don't wear lolita to school, but I will wear casual lolita someday. Maybe in my first year of high school, or the last few weeks of 8th grade.

I got hated on in high school, even tho I conformed the letter (once we got a dress code and proper unifrom at least, kekeke)

Before the dress code: I was ignored, insulted a bit for being weird and stuff.
After the dress code: I got called a slut, a whore, then a lesbian, then got accused of stealing peoples bf's (funny enough the ppl who claimed that all hit on my ex the very day i dumped him, lol)

Basically, people will rip on you as soon as they realise there is something special about you, and sadly, there doesnt even have to be something special about you, they just are the biggest sheep and being different just tells them all who to rip on as a pack, vs having to chance ripping on someone by themselves wink

I'm 22 and have been through all the high school crap: the best thing yuo can do for yourselves, is realise :

High school, does not matter, not social wise. Its 5 years of your life that amount to a big test, which if you pass you get more education.
Care not about idiots. Yeah, theyre idiots, but you cant do anything about them sadly. Thyere so pathetic they dont get that theyre the bad guys. Surround yourself with things you enjoy, so you dont have to pay attention to them. If all else fails, when they start speaking, LAUGH YOUR a** OFF. I dont mean snikker, i mean seriously, imagine them hitting the pearly gates and st peter going "wtf you doing here"
Then laugh all the time you see them.
Nothing will bug idiots more than seeing you happy, at something theyve done.

As for parents, point out
1. at least its showing hardly any of your body.
2. It has nothing to do with relgion, its basically a historical resurgence. If you can, impress them with some knowledge about victorian artists or writers, or some random history.
3. If you make your own stuff, point out to them its a job skill.

Love For Nana
Man people are so judgemental and stupid!!

I hate i so much!

When I was in high school, I dressed kind of lolita like in the casual days (the days we're aloud to use normal casual clothes cause we used uniforms) so this girl started telling everyone I was a satanic witch or something, and they sent me to the principal's office (sinse it's a catholic school) and i almost got kicked out... I got so pissed at that, I went up to her and slapped her, but it was outside the school. She didn't fight back because she knew what she did was all made up, and ppl saw, and I told them, then they all went against her for doing that to me...
It was kinda like the cruel intentions movie... hehe

Holy....I wished we had a casual day at my school (i go to Catholic school too). That was really cool that people were against that girl because of what she did to you. The only times we had such thing was to wear a green (that's one of our school colours) t-shirt, sports/clubs shirt or jacket and it was pretty rare since we all had to wear uniform. I do try to accessorize by wearing my giant bows and people don't seem to mind and often complement. If we did have a casual day, I would like to wear my green country lolita skirt or something.

I don't really dress lolita at all. I mean, I'd love to. But theres some things that you realize that you just dont look good in compared to other girls wearing the same things.
I tend to dress more casual, but i do wear darker colors. Yes, I prefer black. I dont think anything else really looks good on me. It's not like the hot topic "goth" huge pants wih the bondage straps and chains or whatever, it's the dark, dyed black denim jeans from Old Navy, and a t-shirt.
I dress pretty modestly for a girl my age (16). Actually, I dress pretty modestly compared to the 12 year olds that I see. Still, my grandparents are convinced that I'm sleeping around and that 'people' are going to think less of me because of how I dress, that I'll never get a good job that way..yada yada.

What really hurts is the sleeping around part. I mean, yeah, almost all my friends are boys, but most of them are in long term relationships, which my grandparents cant seem to understand. But I dont like *ahem* p***s. Boys are fine...but their sexual organs....eew. It hurts so bad that they assume that I sleep around...but then they point out a skinny girl in a tank top and a miniskirt and say "why dont you dress nice, like her?"

sad

as for the people thinking poorly of me...I go to a catholic, all girls high school, and I dont get harassed, or even made fun of, because theres people there who dress crazier than I do. It's not even good looking, IMO, but w/e.

me and a friend went to hobby lobby once and we were looking at ther black ribbon which is at the very bottom of the racks like on the floor, this old woman kept passing us over and over then eventually she said "it's not worth it"...we looked at her like a senial old thing and walked away. the she just kept following us. (what we were also trying to do is sneek up on our really good friend that works there) the old lady called the manager and accused us of trying to steal becouse we were on the ground looking at ribbon. What we were wearing Friend: Sepheroth shirt bondage paints Me: Jeans (rare occation) and a black punk lolita shirt
the old lady made us feel like crap she sat there and talked to us for like 20 min. i just turned around and ignored her after a while becouse i swear i almost puched her ><...she kept offering to buy it for us then finaly i said "sure you want to buy it for me go ahead waste your money on me hell can you buy this and this for me to becouse you know what i was planning on stealing that too." soooo she walked away and ignored us the rest of the time stressed man it was innoying. and i hate it when i go out in public in lolita....people look at me like i am a retard. once someone actually came up to me and asked if it was halloween T-T

>.> Maybe that's their crazy version of wanting you to wear "girl" clothes? I dunno... personally i would look at them like morons and say "that's the sort of thing you wear when you wanna get knocked up" and leave it at that.

Try to take the 'sleeping around' thing with a grain of salt if you aren't... Grand-parents will think what they want.... you can tell them with all seriousness what's really going on but if they don't accept it just try to ignore it, they're the ones with the problem, not you. YOU know they're wrong... they can be dumb and judgemental all they want but at the end of the day that's not who you are.
