For me, I just started collecting the tabs off of cans. Soda, beer, energy, you name it. I like the tabs. I used to keep the caps, but I was too tempted to try and bend them with my teeth....
As for other things, I collect old computer parts. Things will lay around for months til I need some random part, and I'll see what I can salvage.
I really like reading old manuals. Dunno why, I just like old how-to manuals.

I used to collect shells and rocks when I was small...I still have some in the depths of my dresser I think...There all these hidden spaces in my room that are like voids. They seem to be huge and vast and more and more stuff just ends up in them no matter what.

I collect keys, all kinds of figurines and junk like that (Mostly wolves and dragons I guess), jewery, boxes (No not cardboard ones...) Arm warmers and gloves, I've been collecting crosses since I was a little kid, I have many folders full of random pictures and art I've collected.... And just whatever other random junk I can get my little hands on.

*all my old journals and birthday cards.
*my brother's artwork from years ago.(he has no idea)
*dice
*old pretty glass bottles. (containers, wine bottles, vases,etc.)
*unwanted flowers. (fake or real but I do not pick em')
*old furniture
*unwanted books

i used to have thousands of yu-gi-oh cards but they are scattered EVERY WHERE
those fake credit cards you get in the mail
and those AOL cds they send
oh, plus every card i've gotten for about 5 years

I used to collect so much stuff. I still have a lot of it, but I don't actually collect most of it anymore.
Stuff I still (sort of) collect:
-Stuffed animals (mostly the oversized ones from carnivals)
-Pillows
-posters (like THATS not common rolleyes )
-I suppose you could call it collecting, but I intend to have enough books for a personal library one day.
And once I get a job, I'm going to start collecting skulls. (Fake ones, of course). I saw a really pretty celtic one online, so thats what made me decide to collect those.
I used to collect small teapot sets, but I gave all those to my sister.

i collect names on my death list which no one is able to read cuz i wrote "death list" in hebrew... to anyone who doesn't kno hebrew its just a list of names but someday those people will be dead. I also use to collect business cards xd blaugh lol and i almost forgot to say i collect lives! well no.... not really gonk

the only thing i can think of that i collect is weapons. currently the collection is small, considering the price of the items in question but it contains a 5-lb battleaxe, a scottish claymore and a calvalry sabre. the next things onym list are a traditional viking longsword and a 3-4foot long b*****d sword.
