I'd have to go with percussion as well, not because I play the 3rd bass in the marching band but because we help the others keep tempo and quite honestly without us the band would fall apart. But every section is important to an overall sound. So percussionist, don't get cocky.

Every section is the most important one in the band, every one is an important piece of the puzzle, and with out a section, the show will fall apart.
Every one is equally important... stare

yes the band needs every section to sound good. 99.9% of all the cute guys in band are in Drumline and 99.9% of all the pretty girls in band are in the drumline. xD just sayin' we are the most ATTRACTIVE section. ;] lol.

I would say the leadership overall. but everyone contributes. i am the guard catain at my school, but with out the band we would be. the drummers carry everyone. but it is overall a group effort.

Lol at my school, no one likes the percussion. We don't consider them part of the band even though we went to M.P.A's with them. Maybe it's because they're so much trouble.

Everyone in the band is important when you are in a high school setting since some people are still developing and can't cover the parts needed if some sections were taken out.. But once you get out of a high school setting then you can start taking some out (Like Drum Corps...). But it's best to keep all because you never know when you could get a strong woodwind section even if it is a dime a dozen.

accept that drumcorps isnt taking sections out, they have music and drill that is written for a drumcorps. in a normal marching band, even if you are an amazing band, if you take any section out, you will sound and look like crap.

I meant like not having woodwinds or trombones compared to a conventional band. Probably didn't phrase that right. My bad.

Kokihi ...stupid topic! stare I don't think there is a most important section of the band. if you took any of them out, the music wouldn't sound good. Heres what i meen: without the percussion theres no rhythm without the low brass the music has no "umph"(ever heard an epic song with no low brass? didn't think so.)without high brass the music is emptywithout wood winds there would be no one to make everyone else look good =P just kidding. Without Guard there isnt really much to look at unless you understand marchingall the sections of the band are needed equally. (tho i do hate it when people think drumming is so easy a baby monkey with 1/2 a brain cell could do it, you don't have to be an a** about letting them know its not that simple.) this is a silly topic... would have been better if it said whats your favorite section

Ok I Say While In Certain Songs, You NEED Percussion To Keep The Tempo, They Need The Other Instruments To Be Anything...! But No One Say Anything About Percussion [i dnt say tht just cuz im first bass drum (and only)... and 4th snare]... BCuz Its Not As Easy As It Looks... After Level 1, Anyways!
