lol
sounds like we all do somethings that are stupid and end up getting hurt
the other day when i can swear to god that it was below 10. outside (or at least that way) I decide that i need to practice some so i could make CG this year.
Will a 6ft. metal pole and no gloves and no coat on I go outside and started to practice will it got so cold that i couldn't feel my fingers which made me drop my flag many many times getting hit in the head and many other places..
will the point is DON'T go out in the freezing cold and snow to practice you'll get hurt a lot of then usually...

my favorite colorguard quote is this, "If colorguard were any easier, they would call it cheerleading." the funny thing is our senior drum major is also a cheerleader for the basketball team 4laugh

When doing any kind of stunt with a flag, make sure the other girl knows to swing DOWN not up. ( This is how we end up with broken jaws and concussions ... simultaneously...)

shorty15541 Always hit the people that are in the way of your set especially if they are not in the band ( one time at our homecoming game we had to do our show after the football game and we went out to do our show and there were football family's still on the field and they were in the way of my set and my pole was a five footer! OH YEAH!) ninja I would purposely hit band members if they were in my spot in the set. That trumpet learned to never stand on my hash mark again. (: And the other trumpet player...well, he learned when he was supposed to start moving forward (of course, he didn't take the hint that when everyone else is moving, he should be, too) with some persuasion from my 6' flag.

FeelMyRage Also, when tossing a six on rifle in the cafeteria, make sure you are not standing under a light. You WILL hit it. And if you're unlucky it will get more than just a dent.
Both cafeterias at my old high school have several dents from a certain 6' tall guard captain who would spin a 6' flag.... This person may or may not have been me. ninja

Never let your pompus student director threaten you with the rifles. Seriously, this happened to me. He threatened he "Shoot" me with one of the rifles, and noticed the strap was messed up. So, I told him to check the back, and it was mine!

We love to make people Scream and yell!
We do it on gym floors and on football fields
We love our poles
We make quick fast and snapy movements
NEVER EVER let your boyfriend play with your rifle, he may miss a toss and it will smack you in the back of your head.

Never let your BD who's never touched a flag in his life attempt a drop spin coupled with a toss. His wife threatned to kill him if he ever touched a flag again. biggrin

When tossing a double turn around, do not forget- when you get back the the front your flag will NOT be where you released it. O_O
Also, don't chicken out doing these- I was trying to teach one of the other JV girls how to do it. It was the funniest thing: she tossed the flag, turned halfway around, and then ran out of the way. I lol'd
And when you toss a flag at night with stadium lights and it creates a strobe, DON'T try to look and see where the tab has gone. You WILL get hit in the nose. And that hurts...
