well, different circumstances do tend to produce different aspects in situations, and that goes for more than just magickal issues. that's just everyday life. it might change the particulars of the spell perhaps, with more emphasis on the person if i knew who the person was but honestly, if the whole thing was a purposeful set up as a test I dont believe it would work because true need wouldnt be there. need in this case, as in strong desire. the stronger the desire (emotion) the stronger your energy build up will be and the stronger the effect it would have. at least for me this would be true because I'm not particularly interested in proving anything to anyone. smile

As with all kinds of psychological and social experiments, of course there shouldn't be the knowledge in the subject that they're being tested, as it biases the test results. As far as the subject knows, they simply lost an item of great importance to them, so such a degree that they are willing to use magick as an avenue to regain said item.

What my main question is for this hypothetical experiment is this: Is there any level of need or desire great enough to surpass commonly accepted physical laws and spatial dimensions? If you wanted the item strongly enough, is there any magick that you could use that would return it to you from being locked away somewhere wholly unreachable (ie, a safe with no key or at the top of Mt. Everest) or being destroyed completely (in the cases of with or without your knowledge)?

all I can really say, is I believe.. where there is a will, there is a way. but the witch knows that while some things can be changed, still others cannot. true wisdom is knowing the difference. I dont see magick as making 'miracles' happen. it works within the realm of the possible, not impossible.

Magic works much the same as Psychic abilities do, considering that the energies sued by both are drawn together and pointed towards a singular goal, one step at a time, and they are only able to affect the possible rather than impossible.

The main difference is that Psychic abilities often don't need anything specific to do so long as the person using them is a strong believer.

personally I've never met a real psychic. all the ones I've seen who claim to be so, are those that offer fortune telling advertised on neon signs hung on their front doors and well, I cant help but feel that a true psychic wouldnt need to use their powers to make money in such a way. hell, if I could tell the future, in detail, on demand, I'd be in Vegas wink

While I have some belief in mental powers (having witnessed some first-hand), I often have a difficult time believing those on Gaia who claim to have such abilities. This comes from not only the incredibly low age of the average user, but also the level of delusion that some members are inundated with. Feel free to read the "serious discussion about vampires" thread to get what I mean.

With that said, Whysperwind, would you care to explain your abilities, since you were so kind as to bring them up?

wrong magic is not just a trick of the mind...its not called magic at all its called optic magi and all that for the fat you use your body clothes and other objects to fool the minds..but thats optical illusions...but what people are raised to think fake never learn the true art of magic...its possible to bend light its possible to move things with your mind its possible to move at the speed of light everything is possible...only if you at all believe its fake..to you it will remain

no, no one is saying that magic on TV (even if it's LIVE) is real. we're saying that's illusion. David Copperfield the famous magician who made the Statue of Liberty apparently disappear, is an illusionist. it was a trick done with mirrors. but that's not the same thing as the magick that Wiccans, ceremonial magicians, druids, etc practice.

I don't know if anyone still reads this, and I only read about 1 page, but this should answer most questions. Not sure if this is against the rules, but for those WILLING to decicate time, possibly years and not see anything, then check out these sites. A quote I once heard. "People do not believe in what they can't see." Magic(k) is the same way. You have to prove it for yourself. Anyway.

These sites have forums, and the second one is a forum. You never know what you may find.

If you want to find out my views, and other stuff give me a PM. I do not like talking about it in open public :p.
