That would cause so many errors... The streaming image for the avatar's appearance could take lines upon lines of code, and probably bork the rest of the system for free...
Not that I'm completely against the idea, mind you, but the dev team probably is up to its ears in bugs, coding, and general maintenance.

I understand Ervie. But it would still be sort of cool. Still... avatars are stored as indexed PNG files, as are the individual items. One could class the item as a background item (like the pile of presents item) and the item could point to a particular avatar as the item.
