Tam sighs again and picks the cub up, placing him on his lap and looking him in the eye. "I love you, Taro, in a way I have never loved another, but I cannot live like this. Your anger is devouring me. I don't know how to get through it, to make you understand. Because it doesn't matter how angry you get at me, I will still love you. And no matter how much I love you, or perhaps it is because I love you so terribly much, I cannot tell you the things you wish to know. If you truly do not wish to be with me anymore, I understand. Just say the word and I'll send you to Hopian to raise."

"Very well. If that is truly what you want. I will. You will have to wait a few days though. Salunia is sick and I do not wish for you to catch it. You have been through quite a bit of late."

After a bit, he gets up and goes up stairs and all afternoon, some of the saddest music Kerobian has ever heard fills the tiny cottage.

Near dinner time, Tam comes downstairs and fetches down the loaf of bread and puts it on the table with some sliced ham, cheese and bits of fruit, then he goes back upstairs, too depressed to even want to eat, but knowing the cub needs to.

Tam goes to answer the door, letting Hopian in with a half-hearted greeting. "Let me go get him." says Tam quietly turning to go fetch the cub.

"Good bye, Taro... be good... don't forget to bathe... and brush yer fur at least once a day... okay?" says Tam kneeling down to give him a hug. He finds it exceedingly hard to let go afterward and has to force his arms to open.
