A thoughtful look crossed Scarlett's face as Lafayette pointed out that Cheri probably wouldn't have cared about the communicator either way, nodding lightly in agreement. She supposed he was right, she might have even tossed it regardless of whether she got her sweets now that she'd found a candy store. It was kind of amazing how fast those little paws could shovel the cotton candy into her tiny mouth, but it was also..... A bit concerning. Given Cheri's normal personality, she couldn't imagine what kind of trouble the little pink espurr would get into on a sugar rush, but at least the aussie agreed she deserved the treat for making Scarlett's day. She smiled at that, glad he was appreciative of Cheri's positive effect on her, and her flattering imitation of his accent seemed to make him happy too, if that cheeky grin was anything to go by. Scarlett's smile broadened as well from a coy smile to showing a bit of teeth. "That I do~" Scarlett confirmed, admiring his cute expression. This was a far better reaction than what Zak had given her. When she explained that she was a linguist though, he didn't seem to recognize the term. Not that Scarlett had an issue explaining it. "Mm, I specialize in language." She clarified, though by the time she started speaking, he seemed to already have guessed.
She smiled at his commendation. "I'd certainly like ta think so." Scarlett mused, her nose and eyes crinkling with a smile as he gave her a wink. Good taste indeed.... He was very charming. Arceus, she was glad she answered that random text. Flirting aside, when asked where she'd picked up the accent and slang, Scarlett was more than willing to answer the question. "Far off in a region called Orre. Spent some time there, learned a thing or two from the mechanics." Scarlett explained vaguely, not that she wouldn't give more detail if asked, but she somewhat assumed it was likely Lafayette could be from Orre, given it was the only place she knew that had a concentrated community of strine speakers. She and her father had traveled there so they could go to this little village with some purity stone where was rumored to be a celebi. The way her father figured it, if they could have celebi's help, they could possibly sent a message through time and save her mother, but of course they never saw any sign of the little sprite. Scarlett did end up returning there later on, spending a lot of time in Gateon Port and Pyrite Town. It was a lot more fun as an adult there, and when she was interested in learning more about their mechanical knowledge. "An' yerself? Ifn ya daen't mind me askin'." She inquired curiously. He looked like he could be from Orre, given the worker look about him and the accent, but if he wasn't, she'd certainly be interested to know where he came from.
When Lafayette explained that he'd been going through the gyms, Scarlett nodded in understanding, smirking a bit at being called bluey. That was another term she loved from his dialect, and given her hair color, she knew it well. "Ah, I know how that lot goes... I need ta get back to Sinnoh eventually, take on Fantina and a few other things. This was supposed to be my vacation of sarts, but it turned into a damn nightmare right quick." Scarlett sighed, leaning back in her chair and running her fingers through her hair. "Gone and lost a whole team o' pokemon I did. Just went missin'. Some trainer I am righ'?" Scarlett smirked in a self deprecating way. "Been lookin' all ova town but Castelia's a big city. There's a whole story behind all that but I won't bore ya with it 'nless ya want ta know." She waved a hand dismissively. "By the by... Well beggin' yar pardon Mr. Fix-it, but ya got a name to go with that handsome face a' yers?" She asked with a small smile.

Apollo found himself deadpanning, and then frowning, when Cyrus admitted that he'd actually already been to jail, several times. Yeah, that wasn't helping his case, at all. "And yet you continue to work with them?" He was careful to speak in monotone, unwilling to allow his opinion to bleed through, though it was fair to say that he wasn't exactly thrilled to hear this news. Apollo sighed and wiped both palms of his hands over his face, in a half-hearted attempt to 'wipe his mind clear'; this was a lot to take in, but he could handle it. He just needed a few hours to digest and process this information. His opinion on Cyrus hadn't changed --he was still the kid he'd grown up with-- but he certainly saw him in a new light; this was an entirely new side of the older male that he hadn't even known existed until now.
"It wouldn't be a handout, you could think of it as more of an investment," he suggested, slowly, hands now settled back over his lap. "And I wouldn't be doing it just for you. Knowing you weren't risking yourself trying to make ends meet would put me at ease." As much as he wanted his friend to accept, he wouldn't force him to; he was an adult and, good or bad, he could make his own decisions. "I guess I can't ask you to do anything else besides try," he reluctantly remarked. Apollo sighed once more --he was suddenly doing that a lot-- and then looked away. He didn't know where to go from here. He wasn't going to push the topic anymore, at least not here in this restaurant, but it weighed too heavily on his mind to successfully transition to a new subject. Lafayette nodded his head some as Scarlett confirmed his guess; a specialist in languages? That was a new one to him, he had to wonder how many uses something like that had; he supposed a lot. He let the thought slip away though as the red-head began to explain where she’d learn the talk from, a hand raising to rub under his chin as he thought about that.
"Orre eh?" He murmured, looking to be thinking hard on that one. He’d certainly heard of it before and after a moment he gave another cheeky grin, dropping his hand back down so his arms were crossed over his chest. "Ma’ da’s rellies are from there I reckon." Lafayette looked thoughtful again for a moment. He was pretty sure they were; they were for somewhere and the way Scarlett described it sounded very much like what he’d been told. When she inquired about where he was from, or rather where he’d gotten his own accent, he smirked raising a hand and adjusting his hat a bit. "Born an’ raised righ’ here in rip snortin’ Uno, bluey." He dropped his hand and continued on with his smiling, head tilting some.
"Come righ’ for Ani Town. Down where tha’ battle subbie is?" He pondered if she was familiar with the Battle Subway. Lafayette listened curiously as she explained her own situation, frowning a little at the implication that this was a semi-vacation that hadn’t worked out well. "Sorreh ta’ hear that bluey." He remarked, though looked confused once more as she expressed that she’d gone and lost half her team. Now that wasn’t something he could really relate to, but he kept his mouth shut on asking exactly how someone could lose their pokemon. Maybe she didn’t keep them in check? That was the impression he got whenever he heard trainers lose pokemon; it was kind of sad to think about. "Sure they ain’ gone far. Not if they bright enough." He murmured. When she inquired his name though he blinked and perked up a bit. He smirked again at the nickname ‘Mr. Fix-It’, a hand absently adjusting the tool belt at his hip as he answered. "Heh I s’pose bluey…. Name’s Lafayette." He eyed her a moment. "Yeh got a yehself a name ta share?"

Perhaps that was a bit too much honesty. After having admit to being in jail a few times already, he felt stupid for feeling so compelled to tell the truth to his friend now of all times. He should probably stop before he dug himself into a pit where even his so far 'forgiving' friend won't dig him out of. He hung his head with a sigh when Apollo commented on him still working for them after being incarcerated. Apollo attempted to convince him to not think of it as a handout, but as an investment. As nice as that sounded, accepting money from his friend really didn't sit right with him. Though, not having to really work for the money was a bit appealing...

Scarlett suggested, nodding indicatively to his uniform, though her lips were a bit taut, biting back more comments that could have been made. There was no need to be so crass upfront before she'd gotten a better feel of his character. Instead, she asked about his stomping grounds to see where else in the world she might find other strine speakers, and was surprised somewhat to find that he was from here in Unova itself, Anville Town specifically. "No kiddin'?" She chuckled. She supposed she could see Anville being that sort of a harbor for Orre folks. "Yeah, I've heard me some rumors." Scarlett mused thoughtfully. "Neva' been ta Anville m'self, but it's certainly known among anyone with an appreciation far machinery." She nodded.
Given that Lafayette was wondering around and doing gym challenges, Scarlett explained a bit of her own position, given that right now she was supposed to be on her way back to Sinnoh, if not for her current complications.... Lafayette grinned, hand raising to the brim of his hat to adjust it some. "Sure is bluey, yeh got it righ’ on tha’ nose there." He mused. She was, for the most part, right after all. Sure, his father specialized in working on the railroads and the trains but he did secondary work that all but qualified him as a mechanic in Lafayette’s opinion and he was following in those steps. Maybe he’d have to take a trip to Orre of his own accord to see how it worked down there. "Yeh should take a’visie down there Sheila. Think ye’d loike it." He replied with a bemused smirk.
"Hope not. Can have loss pokies slowin’ ya down. Migh’ need ta jus’ leave’em behind if they goin’ run off like tha’." He remarked, tilting his head some as she explained what some of them were. Huh… a Gallade? That was certainly an interesting choice of pokemon, especially to keep track of others. He’d heard they were kind of the ‘noble-knightly’ types usually. He had to wonder if Scarlett’s was like that too. He took a glance down at Cheri who had finished the bag of cotton candy on her own and now seemed to be buzzing with energy. And by buzzing, she seemed to be semi-vibrating of her own accord. Was that normal? He was certain that was not normal. "Yeh bluey. Pokes ought’a be able to handle themselves." He grinned, placing a fisted hand on his hip and offering a bit of thumbs up with the other, winking her way. "M’sure yeh gonna find’em, dun let’em be a hassle."

There he went, already truncating names like he often did. It was a nice name though, he’d remember that. "But if yeh prefer bluey well… I ain’ agains’ it." He gave a wink again and laughed. When she inquired if he’d take a seat he though a moment, only to feel Noah tugging on his leg before he could respond. He glanced back at the Dewott, who was watching Cheri with unnerved focus. She was just sitting there just vibrating and that was probably something to address. Plus, he still had a few more gyms to hit to satisfy his quota.
"I’d love ta Sheila, but I gotta get movin’." He gave a little gesture. "Them gyms ain’ gon’ blue themselves, yeh know? But was noice meetin’ ya. Gimme a ring if ya need somethin’. I’m righ’ good with a wrench or any otha’ help you migh’ be needin’." He smiled, figuring much the same. If Cheri had gotten in contact with her and all, she probably had the info and well... he could at least answer a phone call. He knew how to do that much. With that, Lafayette reached up to his hat once more, giving it a little tip in her direction. "Ooroo Reggie. Yeh take care… hope yeh find yeh pokies." He gave as a final remark, offering once last smile before he scooped Cheri up under arm and stepped back to starting moving on.

Apollo looked Cyrus over as he spoke, reaching over to grab his water and drink from it. "Good," he remarked after he'd swallowed, relieved that Cyrus would accept. He'd almost said 'thank you', but after some thought he realized that wasn't the most appropriate response, he didn't need to thank Cyrus for accepting a deal that would only benefit him-- at least he didn't think he needed to. "We can discuss the details at a later date." Apollo glanced up briefly when the waiter returned with their food-- that had been quick, or he and Cyrus had been talking longer than he'd thought-- and after nodding in appreciation he turned his attention back to the dark-skinned male, not quite interested in his food yet.
"I think so," he confirmed, hesitantly. With his own, limited, experience he knew that any grass starter would face off against Chili. Cyrus had a water type, Squirtle, and Apollo hadn't stuck around long enough the last time to ask the name of the other two brothers, or their type. "Sinbad would be good." From what he could assume Cilan, or whoever Cyrus would face off against, would have a grass type pokemon to send out at one point. "Though you said you had, what, three badges? Really, any of your pokemon would be okay to use; you've got the raw strength for it."
Apollo looked thoughtfully down at his plate, though he still didn't bother to pick up his fork, and nodded his head at the same time he tried to recall his own experience against the other gym leaders in the hopes of assisting Cyrus. "That oughta work. Though from what I can remember Lenora's Watchog knows Hypnosis, so you should be careful dealing with that," he warned. "Do you have an idea of who you'd use against Burgh?" Even if he was the third gym leader he doubted it'd take Cyrus or his pokemon any time at all to sweep through the first two gyms. It'd be in their best interest to discuss now. "You should keep in mind that he has a Dwebble, so fire type attacks won't work as well on it as the rest of his pokemon."

Scarlett chuckled lightly as Lafayette suggested she'd pegged him correctly in his family business. This was a fun little guessing game, and reassurance that she could still read people quite well. It was just Zak who was an anomaly. "Yeah, I'd bet ya're right, though it'd be nicer to have someone who knows the area showin' me round. Think maybe someday ya can give me the gran' tour?" Scarlett suggested, raising her eyebrows a bit. Someday when they didn't have ruins to explore, or in Lafayette's case, gyms to "muck around in" and he so cutely put. A light frown crossed her face as the aussie pointed out that she might need to leave her lost pokemon behind. "Yeah... T'd be a damn shame though." She sighed. All that work just gone.... She wouldn't have it. She was going to find them, and when she did, if they weren't knocked out, trapped, or dead, they would be better off in one of those states.
Noting Lafayette's gaze shift, Scarlett followed it down to Cheri, who seemed to have finished the cotton candy and was now..... Vibrating? "Ah.... She gonna be okay...?" Scarlett asked with an uneasy laugh. Espurr and their evolutions were certainly odd little creatures.... She was glad he seemed to agree with her philosophy on pokemon handling themselves though, chuckling as he gave her a charming thumbs up and wink in approval. "Yeah, daen't worry about that. It'll be me that hassles them wheneva the hell I find them..." She scoffed, glaring into the distance as if they were around and listening to her warning. Exchanging names, Scarlett couldn't help but comment on the origins of his. "I know a lot of areas, ya could say I'm very well traveled." She smirked, giving her 'name' in return. It was a lie, unfortunately, but a necessary one. At least he seemed to like her false name as much as she did, and she had to giggle at his use of "Reggie". She really didn't care what he called her at this point, she was fine with any of his nicknames, and said as much, but she couldn't help noticing how he'd been standing this whole time, and offered him a seat and a drink. Unfortunately, he had places to be, and so did she, even though Scarlett herself was more willing to ignore those things over a person like Lafayette. At least one of them had the self discipline to stay on task.
Scarlett let out a light, somewhat disappointed, but understanding sigh. "Tha's a bloody oath. No worries, I can do a rain check on that drink far when ya aren't busy." She suggested with a chuckle. She would be holding him to that drink whether he wanted it or not. Any excuse was a good one with a man like Lafayette. "Good ta know.... I'll be sure to do that." She mused coyly at the thought of watching him work on some contraption, certainly a view she could get used to... For now though, she would have to get used to the endless streets and buildings that made up Castelia as she tried to find her lot of pokemon, nodding to Lafayette as he bid her his last goodbyes. "No worries, I'll catch ya on the flip side." She suggested, watching him head off before standing, stretching, and glancing around. In times like these, there was only one thing to do, dig out her lucky doubloon, and leave her fate up to chance. It had never steered her wrong before. "Heads I go left, tails, right." She murmured, rolling the coin between her fingers, and giving it a toss.

As Scarlett had been talking to Lafayette, her team sat around the basketball court. With their mission finished, they had slept in the abandoned base and crawled out the following morning when Scarlett finished Zak the tour of her ship. When the group of pokemon had fallen asleep, Aero figured it was time for him to rest himself, but in doing so, he missed Scarlett's mental calls. To make matters worse, when he did wake up, he found his charge missing, and had to trace them back to the basketball court. When he finally found them, Vandal glanced over at the gallade and yawned. "Well it's about damn time." He grumbled, shifting to stand. "Silence, demon. I've come to retrieve you and the captain's pokemon." Aero scowled, causing the zoroark to quirk a brow. He didn't recall doing anything to the gallade to earn such nasty name calling, but then again this was Scarlett's little knight, and if she didn't trust him then he probably didn't either. "Look pal, maybe we got off on the wrong foot somehow, but I'm not a bad guy when you get to--hrk!" Vandal huffed, quickly finding the gallade's blade at his throat in response. "We are not 'pals', nor will we ever be. If I had the choice, I would slit your filthy mongrel throat. However, since my captain finds you valuable, I will be merciful to a point. Test my patience, though, and I will cut you down where you stand." Vandal held his illusionary hands up. "Okay okay! Jeez...." He didn't realize Scarlett had such a vendetta against him, but in truth she didn't. Aero had his own reasons for hating zoroark as a species, he had simply been holding back around Scarlett. Now that she wasn't watching, and he was able to reveal himself, he wouldn't grant Vandal that luxury any longer.

Scarlett continued to walk down the path the fates had chosen, and her trust was rewarded as Aero finally contacted her via telepathy. "Captain. Vandal has finished his mission and we are all gathered at the basketball courts." Scarlett blinked in surprise, thankful to hear his voice again, but also irritated with how long it had taken him to get back to her. "Where the hell have you been?!" She thought angrily. "My apologies captain, it was a late night, and everyone had fallen asleep, including me." Scarlett made a noise of annoyance, but she did recall that the mission had ran quite later than she expected. She couldn't really be too angry with them for needing sleep, and as for her other questions, she was already nearing the courts now, so she could ask them in person.
Once she saw the group of pokemon, she began returning her team one by one, proudly noting how some of them, like Luna and Damien, had evolved while they had been gone. Eventually she was left only with Aero and Vandal, crossing her arms and looking at both of them seriously. "Answers. Now." Vandal straightened and spoke. "Well I found that base you were talking about. Some Plasma brats from the fair teleported in and I knocked some out then got info from the others. Seems like Zinzolin didn't get teleported here though." Scarlett looked to Aero again, who nodded subtly in confirmation. That had been what he'd observed, at least. "Well, it's not the news I was hopin' far, but it's one area down, and looks like my team got a good work out, so fine." She dismissed, returning the zoroark to his pokeball before turning her attention to Aero. "I have a favor to ask." Scarlett stated cautiously. "I'm gonna ship us to Canalave City. Think ya can teleport me to the Soleceon Ruins from there...?" She suggested. Rave had the ability to fly, but she wasn't big enough to carry Scarlett for such a long distance just yet. "I can attempt it." He agreed.
With that settled, Scarlett moved to the docks and boarded her ship to drive them to Canalave City. Normally she would have just let Aero teleport them to Soleceon Ruins from here, but she couldn't have Zak sniffing about her ship. Even if she was confident in it's safety measures, it couldn't hurt to change locations every now and again. Once the ship was docked safely in it's new location, Aero teleported them towards the ruins.

Noel hopped off train, rubbing his eyes and looking around before stretching and starting his way for the pokemon center. He wanted to give his team final heal up before heading for the gym as well as find a few items to boost his team up some. He needed to get Wilbur a fire move after all as well as see what else he could do.
It didn’t take him long to get where he needed to be and after dropping his team off for healing, he paid a visit to the nearby Pokemart to do some shopping. He found a few useful items to help him out and purchased them, before returning and retrieving his team. He let them all out and went about distributing the items to them, grinning once he was done. There! All done. He was feeling confident for this next battle.

With his pokemon trained up and items switched around, Noel was ready to take the gym. With a smile of confidence, he returned everyone and scooped Algernon into his arms before heading out and to the gym. It didn’t take him long to get there, stepping inside and heading to the gym area where he issued his challenge. Burgh seemed rather excited which was rather interesting, but he didn’t let that distract him from the battle ahead. He had a badge to win!

Burgh broke out into a grin and a smattering of applause, "bravo!" he cried. "That was truly amazing, I've got chills." The gym leader brushed at his curls, pushing them behind his face with the back of his hand, then practically glided over to his white-haired opponent to brandish his rewards. "For defeating my pokemon and I, I present to you the Insect badge." With a flamboyant hand twirl Burgh deposited the badge into Noel's hand. "And, as a bonus, the TM Struggle Bug. Consider it my gift to you for inspiring my next piece!" he explained, with a wink.

Noel gave a sigh of relief as the battle concluded, a hand absently raising to adjust his headphones. He grinned a little as Burgh swept over to him to deposit his winnings, a little put off though by the man's flamboyant display. He'd inspired someone for art? That was... kind of weird to think about. He blushed a little as he accepted his rewards, shuffling some in place. "Ah well... thank you! It was a great battle!" He responded, tucking the winnings away. He scooped Algernon up once more, giving Burgh a wave good-bye before turning and heading for the doorway to head to the pokemon center.
"Thank you for the battle! Take care!" He called back as he left. Noel was half tempted to ask about the art Burgh had been inspired to create, but decided to keep that a surprise for the day he returned to Castelia. For now, he needed to get his team healed up and heading for his next destination! Where was that going to be? He... really had no clue. But he'd look into it certainly!

Lafayette gave a wave as he and Scarlett parted ways after their conversation was concluded. He turned his attention to figuring out what was going on with Cheri, noting that even as they walked away, her jitters hadn’t faded at all. Eventually he figured she needed a proper rest and promptly returned her to her pokeball, leaving only Noah out to accompany him.
It was rather important that he got back on task. He still had to figure out what the next gym would be that he challenged and lingering in Castelia wasn’t going to help him. After walking some, he and Noah took a seat on a bench and quickly Lafayette went over his options It took a little bit to figure it out but soon he had narrowed down the selections. He could head to any region and take the fourth gym there before coming back to Kalos and getting the third, continuing on from there. Now which one… that was the question.
It took a little bit of consideration but eventually he decided he would attempt the forth gym in Hoenn. It was fire and with Noah it would probably be an easy win give or take. And from there well… on to the next badge. He’d have almost twenty by the time he was done, an impressive feat. It’d probably be more impressive though if he collected a bunch from the same region. That was something to consider later. Tucking his things away he pulled out Dova’s pokeball and unleashed the noivern. He shuffled about in excitement, immediately nuzzling her trainer as well as the dewott at his side who didn’t seemed to thrilled by the action. Lafayette just shook his head, promptly mounting up and kicking the dragon into gear, heading off for Lavaridge Town in the Hoenn region to try his hand at the gym.
