The Bayushi would call back to the shrine as he would be unable to find the trail that Kagae had left. "Denbe-san! Can you help us find Kagae? I'm worried for him with bakemono running underfoot."
He'd also like to know what the Crab was up to, but that could be left unsaid.

Denbe blinked, and then nodded, putting his katana away- and drew his tanto, heading towards the shrine. "If Kitsuki-san will come with us. I don't want anyone left alone, especially now that we don't only suspect there might be creatures about..."
Ignoring the two that Osano-wo had so obviously killed, Denbe would wrap his hands in cloth so as not to actually touch the unconscious goblins as he hauled them out of the shrine by their ankles. "One can never be too cautious..." he'd mutter to himself, as he took the tanto, and made certain that no one would be playing possum this night.
Cleaning his knife very thoroughly of the goblin blood, and discarding the cloth he'd used to clean it, he'd head over to Kojiro and Miyako. Much quicker if they or Masuyo helped with any part of his little task.
"Let's get started then, before more of them find us. Or him." he'd begin, if they all were willing to look with him.

As Denbe and Kojiro lead the search for Kagae following the direction he had wandered off in, Denbe, with his 35, would be the only one of the two that would spot the camouflaged pit trap.
However, he was spotting it just as Kojiro was about to step into it.
A TN 15 Raw Reflexes Roll (to grab him) or TN 20 Awareness/Courtier roll (to call out to him in time) probably wouldn't be too unreasonable, yeah? Here's hoping you make it and I don't call unlucky!

Oh he got out of the shrine alright... and then kept right on going, goblins in tow. It was just as well, then, that as soon as the offending creatures left their inappropriate shelter the skies darkened with their victim's wrath. A small step back and a knowing flinch (making sure to guard her new TWIG, which she had already named "Kojiro") was all she gave the scene as the fortune of thunder made good on his name.
"Not much longer, unless the kami grow fond of you." she managed to respond to Kojiro before the scorpions got too far. She nodded her gratitude to the Hare for taking care of that particular unpleasantry before gesturing him away. "Go hunt down Kaiu-san, then. I'll stay and make sure Osano-Wo is appeased."
And unless anyone objected, that's exactly what she would do. Beginning by cleaning the place of its filth while trying to remember what exactly would appease such an entity out here.

Denbe would have seemed torn on leaving Masuyo- after a moment thinking, however, he'd nod, and give her a small piece of advice. "Try and keep your head down, and your eyes open. We'll be back soon, keep safe till then." He did hope the sounds of the fight wouldn't draw more attention her way. - - - - - Denbe would need some time to figure out if he'd been more relieved earlier when he saw the Scorpion catch fire, or now that he was no longer flaming. That would have made this singularly... "-Kojiro!" Uncomfortable. As he grabbed the back of the Scorpion's kimono and called the personal name, trying to give him a sharp enough jolt so he could wrap an arm around him and haul him back away from the trap, the Hare would at least have a few seconds before he'd have to reflect on what ways the situation WAS uncomfortable. Miyako glanced at the two just in time to see the Hare grab the bushi and her young and easily distracted mind went to more entertaining places, as she didn't realize there was a trap.
"A sudden declaration, Ujina-san....?" and she just grinned, wondering if Kojiro's wife knew and making sure they both realized she was there before anything inappropriate happened. No wonder Kojiro was so popular with the men.

Still smarting from the wound that the goblin gave him, Kojiro wasn't particularly attentive at the moment, and Denbe's actions came as quite a surprise to him. "What the Jigoku, Denbe-san?"
Kojiro would be totally confused right now. "What in Ningen-do is going on here?" The scorpion was answered when Denbe pointed to a cunningly obscured trap. "Huh. I wonder if one of these got Kaiu-san..."

The Hare wouldn't quite throw the Scorpion to the ground- but he'd yank him bodily back as if he were going to throw him down, and release him just shy of it.
Catching his breath- and making sure to stand between Kojiro and the trap- Denbe would look very seriously at him, starting to compose words to reply to him when-
"-what? No- no! There's a hole-"
Denbe would gesture and nervously for a moment, waving his hands defensively in front of himself, before collecting enough wits to kneel and start to press some foilage aside with his hands. Helping reveal the trap for him. And possibly lighting it by the glow of his face.
"Bayushi-san, Shosuro-san, that is, there's a trap," he said as he checked it's nature further, wincing. "Staked pit." Frowning, he'd check inside it. He was quite sure that they'd have noticed the pit more easily if Kagae had already fallen inside, but his trail had led them right to it. The Hare would nervously decide that once they were ready to continue, he'd have to watch the trail quite a bit more carefully.
"No, I don't understand it. We're too far out for the Kaiu to have traps here, I'd think. This is abandoned land. It could have been the goblins. It just... looks rather well made for their hands though..." the Hare let his mind turn the situation over as he started to look for which direction Kagae's trail led after the trap.

@ Wardens:
No Admiral Ackbar pictures with your post, Denbe? I'm disappointed.
As Denbe begins examining the trap, one thing did become evident first and foremost - this was definitely created recently. As in, today recently.
For a Raise, I will give Denbe knowledge that some samurai families, namely the Daidoji and Kaiu, are fond of using traps to defend their homes and territories. This could very well be the handiwork of one of them.
Also, Perception/Hunting is required to follow trails, I'm afraid.
--------------------
@ Masuyo:
Normally this work would be better suited for an Eta - but being a shugenja, and a Dragon on top of that, you are probably the best suited one to take care of the shrine over anyone else in your current traveling group. There is no fear of honor loss for you in this situation, despite the... *ahem* abundance of goblin poop.
When a shrine has been desecrated, there are rituals that priests can go through to cleanse and purify it. Even having a rank in theology means you PROBABLY know one; one of those standard, formal, basic, lengthy rites. One that would take days - days that your companions probably don't have. On top of that, you really don't have any of the materials at hand either.
There might be a better impromptu way of tackling this, but it escapes you at the moment. Your best bet, especially since this shrine seems more or less abandoned, is to let someone know at the next sign of civilization you come across, though as a GM, I'm still open to any other suggestions you might have.
Osano-Wo will PROBABLY understand. You guys have already done more for this shrine than others have for a long time, so as long as you don't forget it, he shouldn't hold it against you. In theory.

Heading southeast from the foiled pit trap, Denbe would track Kagae's steps to another pit trap - this one, much less hidden than the last. In fact, one might even wager it wasn't hidden at all!
... the pale-skinned goblin that had fallen in probably has something to do with it. Impaled on numerous spikes, it looks like, despite the loss of one of his arms, he attempted to climb out, but was too injured to succeed, falling in more than once. He was a brutalized mess, and it was quite obvious that he had died horribly.

Denbe followed the tracks along until they paused again.. and stopped to look into the trap, frowning and feeling slightly queezy. The sight of a dead goblin was reassuring enough. The manner of it's death, however, made him feel somewhat uneasy.
"This one too. These are definitely man made. And well. Not the goblins," the Hare trailed off, looking around and considering. Including considering going back to camp. He had mixed feelings about what these traps seemed to imply.
"There are two samurai clans known to use traps regularly. The first is the Daidoji. The second..."
He pointedly stared at the trail while he thought.
Let the Scorpion make their own decisions from there. He was still debating whether the traps made him feel uneasy, or grateful for the extra protection and insurance against monsters their companion seemed to be taking the time to install. Even if he seemed to insist on wandering off alone in dangerous territory to do it.
