When Shion found herself entering he would attempt to address her but was dissuaded when she rose her hand. As for Freya it seemed more than likely she had escaped this crowd some time ago. "My, so enthusiastic." He'd say in regards to Kojiro after taking in what Hajime had said. "Ah hold on bloop." "The book you requested." An anbu said, who seemed to have made his way into the room discreet and unobserved among the voices that were interchanging in the room. "Ah yes, thank you bloop. I have been curious about this genre called ..tentacle hen-tais. bloop. Seeing as I've been referred to one more than once." The anbu said nothing, beneath his mask there was a shame that this was a mission he was given. As Toso removed the doujinshi, what could be a belch from his sleeve encased it in flame and turned it into ashes. The remnants of Hajime's technique he'd sealed it seemed. Toso seemed right disappointed with a momentary frown and furrowed brow but when he looked to where the anbu once was he was gone. The squid man sighed.
He'd instead remove a vogue like fashion magazine you'd typically find in dentist bathrooms from a nearby desk drawer he had which was filled with different reading material. The Squid often occupied himself by reading various things, myths, fashion, gossip, trends, above all, however, if any one could sneak a peak there was a large number of manga and more western comics. He'd cross one leg over the other and begin reading its pages. Naturally, this would come off as though he was disinterested in what anyone had to say thus forth but then he spoke. Finally addressing Hajime and soon after Kojiro. "Not in your current state your not. bloop." He'd turn the page as he said this casually seeing as the squid's tone of voice was always seemingly locked to one setting.
"Kojiro, If you require an assignment, I would much appreciate if you could bring me another piece of reading material that involves tentacle hen-tais as it's called I believe bloop. Although, I'm surprised, the officer asked you to be of his regimen so I'd have assumed he'd have had some assignment for which to do in preparation." A scroll at the end of his desk would then begin to glow. Attracting his attention the squid put down a magazine on a page which was opened to two lingerie models. Toso wasn't stimulated by such things of course but it was a wonder for anyone else in the room.
Contained in the scroll would be Kagerou's formal report on the mission. He'd open it and adjust his glasses. To have received Kagerou's before Shion's whom was the captain at the time an in such intimate detail..well...he'd get back to reading. He wouldn't look at Shion long so that it wouldn't be so obvious. Seeing as Toso's reading level and memory was exceptional he essentially devoured the report on a mental level before closing it and sighing placing the scroll on top of the magazine to cover it. It also contained Kagerou's requests and her earlier signed off permissions to leave the village which had been requested long ago. Toso stood up. Looked at Kameyo. "Bloop. Well then. I will entrust Mr.Hajime to you Kameyo. I'm certain Belamos has trained him well enough in strength alone but if it isn't too much to ask see if you can hone his way of thinking yes bloop."
Toso would move to a corner of the office after attaching his cane to his side. What was leaning against the wall seemed to be a large looking tube-like container. Toso would place it over himself and tighten the strap. It was very much looking like he was getting ready for something. Something that would involve..heavy amounts of combat. He opened the brush case in his pocket. They circled his head as he closed the case again and they all returned. As if doing a routine check. Modoru Gumo, and the two brushes he'd been working on earlier appeared and interchanged with each other respectively before disappearing after some light practice swings. "Shio-nee. If you've something you wish to discuss the floor is yours bloop. I don't mean to rush you but my true self will be departing soon. I've a promise to keep bloop." He didn't look at anyone else in the office. What he had set to plan on doing seemed of a serious degree of importance.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Once the crowd had dispersed, or at least cleared up as much as it was going to, Shion finally let it all spill. "That's why I'm here. Where are you...the you you." The way she spoke, something about it would strike foreign to the squid, or at least not in a way he'd have heard from her in a long while. Her usual bombastic tone was hushed and withdrawn, giving way to a shaky squeak of a voice rather than one that was overflowing with misplaced confidence. She was afraid. "Toso... please." The others could think what they wanted of her, it didnt matter; it's not like she had a reputation to besmirch anyway. No matter what they would call her, no matter what insane punishments they decided to slap her with... if she was going to throw away her life in some psychotic anarchist's war, she'd do it defending her kage and friend, not in the second charge of the light brigade.
Kameyo sized up Hajiime as the Arashikage dealt with his business. The kid looked a little rough and rugged but he was clearly experienced with fighting. Maybe he was an actual thug or street youth before he was a genin - she would need to examine his knuckles to see if there were any tell-tale scars. The kage dismissed his desire to fight since he wasn't in the right 'state' apparently. Kameyo wondered what Toso saw about him that she didn't. She would think he was fine to fight, but she had never seen the kid before this moment.
Then he addressed her, asking if she could hone his thinking after some Belamos had honed his strength. "Yes," she agreed with his leaving Hajime in her hands, "I'm renown for my thinking." Her dryness didn't quite match up with the genuine amusement in her eyes, and she couldn't help but actually feel excited about having a student of her own. "Come, Hajime. I'll teach you what I know about the Sage Arts, and maybe if you're a good boy, we can see how you fight, too." She grinned, tendrils moving just beneath her skin in her eagerness as she led him out the door and towards a place of worship.

For the briefest of moments a pulse of pure light filled the Kage's office. As it faded, one would find Belamos Karna seated on the couch on the side of the room "Sorry for the rude entry, but I am on a time crunch" Leaning back, Belamos would scan the room. The rude Nibi Girl from before was here- hopefully, she had gotten a hand on controlling her beast better. As was Haji. Belamos nodded to his apprentice in recognition "Good to see you, apprentice. I trust you're preparing for the coming storm" To Hajime he said no more before turning his attention back to Toso "If you have time, can we adjourn to somewhere a little less crowded?" He trusted that the Kage would take them back to his own private dimension- that ink land served the purpose of physical demonstrations well.
"I must have confused you with my choice of words my apologies bloop. The you, or rather the Me. The me me you seek is indeed I. The I who is here now. But as I've said I will not be here or rather the Me me will not be here much longer." Toso would say this adjutsing the cuffs of his sleeves and readjusting his collar. Still facing the opposite direction of everyone in the room. He didn't seem to be paying much mind until Shion's tone took a shift and a metaphorical light bulb lit up. That, of course, wasn't the only thing that lit up as Belamos made himself present. It seemed everyone wanted a piece of him. Toso would acknowledge his presence with the glint of his glasses and an internal sigh. With one handsign he'd reproduce a shadow clone. My my hadn't this become his new routine. With the other, he opened Tako-Buso. Belamos's tone of voice implied what information he seemed to have the desire to share was one that should be confidential.
The hive mind of bee like brushes would then draw a circle on the wall next to the couch in which Belamos was laying on. After a short period, the wall would shift from black ink to a familiar white hole which could be entered. The clone would offer a nod implying Belamos follow it for the entry into the pocket dimension known as Isekai-Junsei. "You should know Taiyo-kami, we're all crunching time in our own ways. Hopefully, a clone will suffice." With having Belamos separated Kameyo with her leave and likely Hajime in tow. Those that remained were a 'possible' Freya somewhere and A Kojiro likely still trying to process the task he'd been requested and last but not least a Shion.
"No, that's not it." Toso seemed to be re-adjusting his tie. See. It was unlikely anyone knew. However, Toso's capability to manage his own attire's appearance is not something he would find problematic in the slightest, at least not anymore. He could change his outfit on a dime aesthetically thanks to gift he was given by his old flame. "Shio-nee I'd like to move to the meeting room. It has a mirror we can converse there regarding what's troubling you."
If things went according to flow, another clone would remain in the office, the real Toso and Shion would be entering the soundproof meeting room which formerly housed Shiro and a clone of himself to talk strategy. This of course would be reflected by ink marks everywhere, circles on maps and globes, and those tiny chess like figures representing people and squadrons etc. "Do close the door." He'd tell Shion if she followed Toso would then be standing in the mirror the same blank expression as he usually had.
He'd continue to re-adjust his tie, still not looking at Shion but their reflections would be cast in the mirror. "So. If I recall. Officer Kosei requested you to be on his regimen. Has that matter been discussed with the good officer? bloop." The way Toso moved his hands. The tie was finished. There was nothing to really adjust it may have been slightly skewed but really it seemed unnatural, just as unnatural as Shion's pitch shift.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Shion would simply nod in agreement to Toso as he ushered her into the side room. Shutting the door behind her, she'd turn to face the squid before the large mirrored wall and catch a glimpse of herself in the process. She'd thought her... let's call it subtle... voice crack was all that she let slip through the facade, but she couldn't be more wrong. Her frustration, her anxiety... all of it was written clear as day across her face, and she hated every minute of it. Signs of weakness were beginning to show in her. Turning her head away from the mirror, Shion crossed her arms over her chest, taking up a constrappasto, before finally spitting out an answer. "His plan is to just throw the best we have at the front of the pack and hope for the best." Of course, she had no real way of knowing if this was the whole plan or not, but that had never stopped her from backing out of a shitty situation, or shitty as far as she could tell, before. "Me, Belemos, Selina, Kagerou, and all the best this village has to offer..." she'd pause, allowing herself to take a recomposing breath. "It's foolish. Goodness knows I'm not the most tactically minded, but even I know not to put all your eggs in one basket. He's taking the best we've got and just throwing them into one location miles away from you!" The fervor burning below quickly spilled over the more she spoke. "If we lose the village, we can rebuild it. If we lose..." a momentary pause as she pushed down the thought of losing Toso. "If we lose you, we find a new Kage. I want to be sure we dont lose either. Let them go out and fight, sure, but we need someone here protecting you. I turned down Kenshin's request to make sure ALL of our assets are protected. They can call me a deserter, rash, stupid, or insubordinate, whatever. It's nothing new. I know my priorities are in the right place." And there she was. For the first time in a long time, completely up front. Why was it always Toso who brought out the best, or maybe worst, in her?
"Are you sure about what those priorities are?" Without so much as a stutter or second guess Toso would question these 'priorities' of Shion. He'd cease fixing his tie, the room grew deathly quiet for a moment, and in this moment like a snake trying to peek out of its burrow one of Toso's tentacles was trying to sneak itself out of a flowing hole in Toso's back. As if realizing this Toso's head adjusted itself to look at the buttons of his vest of which he was making doubly sure were in each of their respective fixed positions. The tentacle withdrew and Toso spoke in this continued manner that made it seem like him and Shion were in two different rooms or rather two different planes of thought.

"The good Officers request for the strongest forces is for when the gambit I've taken fools them no longer, but under the duress of our strongest forces, they will be unable to correct the mistake they've made and those within the true Arashigakure can remain safe from a fight they should not have to suffer through."'If they see through you, you've condemned them all to die on this floating prison' - 'It will fail, you have failed these people' The second grinning tentacle made itself known with its own whispers adding on to the firsts. Toso's hands when it came to rebuttoning his vest seemed to be showing some difficulty but his face remained stalwart as always and his tone unshifting.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Shion hated being questioned. Whether it be by those in a place of authority or not, it had always bugged her to no end. Now, don't be mislead by this. It wasn't because she hated being wrong or having other ideas brought up; in fact she welcomed input from the teams she lead. She's just the type of person who gets caught up in second guessing herself. But most of all, she hated admitting her true motivations when they weren't the most benevolent. What she said about her thoughts on the plan were 100% true; she believed it to be a very risky gamble that could ultimately lead to the destruction of the entire village should it all fall apart. Her reasoning for declining Kenshin's request, however, was almost entirely personal. She hated the thought of leaving her friend alone to die; the fact that her friend was also the kage was just a thin veil to mask her true motivations.
As Toso elaborated on the thought process behind the plan, a voice in her began to scream, and she almost did. Again, she was more than ready to point out the flaws of the plan and raise her concerns, to candidly point out her true feelings... but the tentacles seemed to be doing that job well enough. Got to admit, this was a first for the Squid. In the years they'd known each other, Shion had been subjected to all manner of oddities from Toso, but this... this was something new. The words that hissed out of each appendage... you didnt need to be a rocket scientist to put it together. It was doubt. Plain and simple. With each word, that urge to lash out simmered down, lower and lower until anger was replaced with... well... not pitty. Empathy? Huh. Who knew she was capable of that.
Then, as she was about to comfort the Squidkage, the arms shot back into the inky blackness from whence they came. Then, Toso changed the subject... probably for the best. We've seen Shion try to give words of encouragement before. Probably not the best thing for our dearest leader to have happen to him. "Honestly dude, it's not good. Guess I wasn't ready for the kid. Havnt seen him in quite a while. Guess I'll be taking that course you mentioned or whatever." she said, letting out a beleaguered sigh. "But, it just means I'll have to double down on saving your butt again. Let's face it, dude. You're not a fighter and I'm not a talker. If I watch after you, we'll have all the bases covered." As Toso moved past her, she'd slide her hand into the pouch she kept secured to her leg. Shuffling past the various metals and papers, she'd wrap her fingers around a piece of ceramic and produce her CORE mask. Pulling it down over her face, she'd turn to follow behind the kage. "That... and I'd like to use this at least one more time in an official capacity before i have to turn it in. Don't worry, I'll keep my distance until you need help."

"If you mind me not asking, why not request the aid of your father now as oppose to after you allegedly die bloop." Toso would say expressing concern for Belamos to some semblance as he so openly had a train of though involving if he were to die. Something that Toso himself didn't quite believe would be something that would happen easily.
"Ah but first let me answer your inquiry yes bloop. I suppose I didn't go into the more intricate details." Toso would say having interrupted himself before tucking the scroll away. Taking a deep breathe he'd provide Belamos the desired debriefing. " Now, perhaps you have seen that where Arashigakure formerly resided I've replaced it with a fauxly inhabited identical copy, the other device of which I commissioned is fully operational and capable of fully cloaking Arashigakure in its entirety for a strategic period of time. These strategic points of assault were orchestrated and thought out by none other than myself and the militant former Kage of Kumogakure and current presiding Daimyo Shiro Chosokabe." Of course as Toso spoke everything would be playing out in Isekai-junsei. It was well known that during Shiro's time he was a jingoist and a man that carried militant mindsets. The one who led the war against Seizan those many years ago which dissolved many of the UHV. If anyone could add weight to a militant strategy it would likely be said man.

Hearing Shion's report on Hiroki Toso frowned for a moment. So not even she could penetrate the boys lackadaisical desire of having no desires. A stray thought popped into the Squids head about eating him. Still, he brushed that thought off that he'd gained during his time in the kitchen. Saiken would also likely not approve of it. He wouldn't mention Hiroki again seeing as the subject bothered him so like he did before he'd leave that train of thought behind before deferring back to Shion in regards to her thoughts on the current matter "Ah, I suppose that is some sound logic.." he couldn't very much argue with her. He didn't want to endanger her. The safest place for Shion. At least to the squid. Was being surrounded by the strongest.
With his hand now on the handle still having yet to give the girl an answer. He'd look at her and with his free hand raise it to form a peace sign. "Very well, if this is how you truly feel bloop. I will agree on two conditions. If I do in fact become engaged by the enemy, you are to, one, remain on stand by and wait until I signal for your assistance and two, if in the event I am in critical condition and there are others in the perimeter in danger that outnumber me you prioritize THEIR safety over mine understood?"
Toso would turn back to face the door before the handle would make its distinctive click. "If you accept those conditions you are welcome to oversee me. Otherwise bloop. You are to serve under the Officers regiment as a direct ORDER." Yes, Shion was his friend, and it was because she was his friend that he was being this stern with her and to a degree stubborn about her staying by his side. Deep down he wanted this, he would have invited it to happen, it warmed his heart that Shion would prefer to be by his side than serving on the front lines. Just as Shion wanted to do so because Toso was her friend. But as her friend Toso wanted what was best and safer for her and while it seemed ironic to say that was on the front lines surrounded by the strongest the village had to offer. Two people trying to perform self-sacrifices for the other. Truly it was a war in of itself
Whether Shion gave an answer or not Toso would then push the door open as he closed his eyes in a manner to say he was running late and needed to leave...but the door made a kachunk sound and refused to open crating a moment of awkwardness. "Ah...right it is a pull door aha bloop." He'd then pull the door and the same kachunk noise would occur. An awkward silence now before he realized the doors latch lock was locked. "Oh yes, that's right. It's locked." turning the lock with a click Toso would finally be able to pull the door open and take his 'awkward' leave before wishing Shion a goodbye and mentioning something about hopeing some puppet shop in the residential district hadn't been demolished yet.

Having sought out what he needed to assist with and finding the Arashikage wanting of this tentacle hen-tais. Kojiro had never heard of such a literature, so he was none the wiser to what the man had asked him to retrieve. He had not recieved any marching orders as of yet. The two had just finished detaining a string of ruthless gang members, after which Kenshin had dismissed him. " Negative sir, Kosei-Sensei released me from duty for the day after detaining the gang members dwelling in the residential areas". Kojiro would offer a bow, turning to the door. " I'll see what the local book stores and library has to offer. Be back soon." A courier from the CORE Compound took the short journey from there to the Spire to deliver a message to the Arashikage on behalf of CORE Commander Kosei. He entered the office politely and spoke to Lord Hojo. "Commander Kosei has raised the emergency alarm. The captain also dispatched all officers to escort civilians to the bunkers and keep the peace. He also wrote a letter addressed to you." After ensuring that the letter was in the Kage's hands he would bow deeply before turning around and returning to the Compound. The letter was sealed officially and his signature line contained his many formal titles before his official stamp.
The letter reads as follows:
To Nidaime Arashikage Hojo,
As you know, my lieutenant in the Arashigakure Police Department resigned and transferred to the hunter ninja corps last week. His talents are much better suited to the Oinin. Ada Rio-Kyuri has transferred from her position as captain of the royal guard into the police force as the new lieutenant. She is also an agent within CORE's special operations, code-named "Athena" and her mask will be assigned soon. I recommend appointing her as a Jounin in the village until she completes more missions at which time I will recommend her to Konin personally. I will oversee her development and I have confidence that she will give exemplary service to the police force.

Belamos interlocked his hands behind the small of his back and listened quietly as Toso spoke. The plan he devised was similar, but not the same as the one he had come up with. Belamos pictured the battle in his mind, glossing over the mental battle map as he did so. Once the man was done, Belamos opened his eyes and spoke "Close, but there's some things I believe you have failed to account for- namely underestimating the will and of our opponents and overestimating the experience of ours. I have seen their agents up close and personal as you well know. Many of the instructors they now hold were mere recruits who I trained myself back in the old war. They are skilled, battle hardened and killers all" Toso was actually quite wise, despite his appearance. He was a master of many different skill sets and knowledgeable to be an authority in dozens more...but war? War was something that Belamos, unfortunately, knew too well. "You're a good man Toso, but let me ask you this: how many men have you killed? A dozen? A hundred? I've waded through rivers of blood- sent men I have respected to their deaths over and over. And I'd do it again, not because i want to, but because it was necessary. Sandayu will throw his forces at us without remorse and we must be prepared to respond in kind. Tell me, Toso, do you have the metal to send me to my death? To send Shion or Kenshin? You must, for if you don't, it could mean the end of us all"
Taking a breath, Belamos began to pace, the entire time looking at the floor in front of him "The biggest problem is I have read the files on many of our shinobi and most of them have never seen a minute of real combat. How many are going to hesitate when it comes to plunging a sword in their enemies belly? More than one I think. It's going to make combat a liability. Kogarashi isn't going to pause in that moment, if we do-" Belamos snapped his fingers "-dead. Our job is to kill, to be killers. I think we forget that sometimes. Before the battle, someone needs to speak to the men and women. Lay out to them what the situation is, otherwise they could very well break when the going gets tough"
Finally the pacing stopped as he looked to the Kage "As for Sandayu, he's mine." He let the statement hang in the air for a few seconds before continuing "Now you can do what you want with my observations- heed them or ignore them. What do I know I've just been fighting in battles for half of my life. As for your question earlier, I really doubt you understand the nature of gods. They do not care about us. We are like ants to them, something insignificant and entertaining. If they do something for you they expect something much greater in return. A god was he. Toso hardly delved in patron affairs, the one he did, he had ended it, as it was only a being of immense power. The Hachibi. Reverred as a god aswell among his people, but sealed into mortals by his own hands. Would that have made him a god? No. Toso's conceptions in these regards had taken a turn into one of the faithless kind. What is a god but simply a person or being whom has immense power. A power that people feared to earn reverance. No. Toso wasn't too keen on gods or to be specific gods that ruled with fear and Belamos only accentuated that in the describing of them. Those who have such powers and think themselves SUPERIOR to 'mortals' should have no hand in the dictation of their lives. For a moment Toso would hear a chuckle in his head that was not his own. He decided to ignore it. Rather as Belamos began and ended his rant the Toso clone would close his eyes and recite what sounded to be a quote.
"In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. Meet the without tenseness yet not recklessly, your spirit settled yet unbiased. An elevated spirit is weak and a low spirit is weak. Do not let the enemy see your spirit." Toso would then open his eyes and stare at the miniature Arashigakure keeping a placid expression as he always did. He hated the situation he was in. He was handed the keys to a village on the verge of possible destruction. He was given an unfathomable responsibility towards its inhabitants to defend them to far greater degrees than could even be imaginable for a normal nin. He had gone from an average life as shinobi and chef to the leader of a free village in days when to him it felt only as though minutes had passed. This was reality. A terrible, unfun, inconvenient, mess. "Truth is not what you want it to be; it is what it is, and you must bend to its power or live a lie." These were the words of a samurai I met several years ago when I made my journey to the then Kumogakure. I didn't pay them much mind then. the world of Isekai-junsei would then become awash in black. Darkness filled the world voiding it of light as if an eclipse had just occurred only for it return back to its empty white canvas like appearance. Toso would raise his right hand and act as if he were counting as he lead into his next words which sounded as though he were reminiscing. "Although in the coming years they would always echo in the back of my head bloop. When it comes to war and cannot deny your wisdom Taiyo-kami. I can count the number of people I've killed in my lifetime with my fingers and toes alone. While their deaths could be considered justifiable and their actions and behaviors deplorable, I cannot help but think what made them the way they were and had they only had someone to guide them they could have lived far more fulfilling lives." His hand would then slowly return to his side. He would adjust his glasses and again another wave of darkness seemed to fill the world before brightening again. "I do not underestimate the enemy. I very well saw what they are capable of through the windows of the spire with my own two eyes bloop. I came to terms with the reality that I may well be sending those I care about and look over to their deaths. That does not, however, mean I have to find enjoyment in it. Bloop. It is also not that I overestimate ourselves...but what is a leader..." Toso would then make certain to direct himself towards Belamos. "Who lacks faith in his men bloop?" he gave Belamos a smile. Or rather the strongest of smiles his stalwart face was capable of which was at most a heartfelt almost serenity-inducing grin.
Belamos may not have shown it now, but back then, in the office, when it was him and his daughter, there was fear. It would be lie to say Toso himself was not afraid but his smile was laden to ease what fears Belamos may have still had stirring. Toso had faith in the man in front of him. True, faith alone wasn't enough to win wars but it was enough to kindle spirits and kindled spirits give way to more raging fires, and the more raging fires the harder they are to put out. While it was seeming like their discussion was coming to a close Toso would then impose something. "Perhaps this is a silly question Taiyo-kami. But why do you think Kogarashi became what it has become now? Clearly, your intentions for it must have been far less radical? If what you say is true, and the convictions you imparted into said instructors still dwell within them would it be hard to believe that their servitude under Kagami is only out of fear rather than loyalty? More so. You must have worked with the woman whom is now on route to see our destruction...if its not asking too much just 'who' is she. I understand, however, if you've nary the time to answer these questions. We all are after all on our own schedules.

Kojiro would kneel, sliding the thing plastic bag under the door crack as he stepped away.
