Derrick grimaced, "Let's not be hasty..we don't know if I can swim like this.." he used as a playful excuse, even though there was no way he wouldn't be able to swim. It'd be odd at first, but dog paddling was something even humans learned, it wouldn't be a problem. Derrick cuddled against Dimitri and licked his cheek, "Besides. I'm too adorable to payback." he said sweetly, before bursting into growling laughter.
Maddix took the plates from Jaime as he came out, "Good thing we didn't do this earlier." he chuckled.
Darren and Sorcia were running around the pool and Darren abruptly stopped, causing Sorcia to run into him. He laughed and made to push her into the pool, except that she caught his shirt at the last second, pulling him in as well. Both came up spluttering before Sorcia grabbed Darren and dunked him. He came up laughing and splashed a wave of water at her face.
Maddix looked on from the grill with a grin, "Play nice children!" he called out.

Jaime laughed and agreed with Maddix's statement. He went to the poolhouse and changed quickly. Running up to the pool, he yelled "Cannonball!" before jumping in right near Darren and Sorcia.
Dimitri smiled down at Derrick. "I can't argue with that, but then again, that never stopped me before," he said playfully. He headed to the poolhouse, just barely missing the splashes of Jaime's cannonball.

Darren laughed as Jaime entered, and Sorcia splashed a huge wave of water at him. "Yay! My little elf joined us!" She swam towards him, hugging him from behind as she splashed him again.
Derrick scrunched his snout, "Meany." He watched Jaime jump in and his ears perked. Were things always like this? As they entered the poolhouse, he glanced around. This place was unfamiliar to him, and yet, it should have been his home..should have been.."What happened to your family, Dim?" he asked abruptly though softly, glancing up towards Dimitri.

Dimitri set Derrick down when they entered the poolhouse. He had just pulled off his shirt when Derrick asked his question. Sitting down on a chair, he pushed his hair back a bit. "My parents died when I was little, and so I was sent to live with my uncle. There, I met my cousin, who you've heard a little about, but...we weren't a family. More like a collective," he said sadly. He reached down and picked Derrick up, kissing his furry head. "You're my family now. I didn't know what that meant until I met you," he said, kissing his head again before setting him down.
Jaime threw himself backwards with Sorcia on his back, making them both go underwater.

Derrick was set down and watched as Dimitri sat down. At the words, his ears fell down a bit..he'd had no one? As he was picked up and kissed, and then kissed again, he quickly licked Dimitri's cheek before the other moved away. His ears had perked again as his voice stayed soft, though it sounded like a smile in his voice. "And you're mine..even with them around now," his brother and sister, possibly his mother, "You're the only family I've really had, the one the means the most to me. My Dimitri." Derrick tilted his head and bared his fangs in a smile, "Love you." he said, as he had so many times before to Rowdy, his little buddy.
Sorcia was submerged and released Jaime, swimming away a bit as she came up coughing on water before she batted her hand to splash him. "Cheater!" she laughed.

"How is that cheating?" Jaime protested playfully. "I think me and Darren might have to challenge you to some chicken," he laughed. "Something where there's actual rules," he added.
Dimitri smiled at Derrick warmly at his words. "You have no idea what that means to me...and no idea how much I love you too," he said. "There are no words to describe it." He rubbed Derrick's head, scratching behind his ears.

Sorcia splashed him, "Yeah yeah. You'll be sorry when Mad helps me, elf boy." she stuck her tongue out playfully.
Derrick's ears perked further and his tail wagged as he leaned into Dimitri's hand. "Jeese, now I can't stop smiling.." he nuzzled Dimitri's hand, "Thanks for staying with me, Dim. All this time..and I'm glad we found these necklaces..being able to talk to you and be with you like this..it's worth it..well worth it." he affirmed.

Jaime rolled his eyes. "Sure, sure...idle threats," he teased.
"Derrick...I...I want to do something for you," Dimitri said. "I want to switch back, so that you can spend time with your family. I feel guilty...like I'm taking your welcome home away from you. We can worry about getting me a body tomorrow...I want today to be about you..." It was hard for him to offer this, but Derrick was the most important thing in the world to him.

Sorcia raised a brow, "Don't forget I know where you slee-" she was cut off as Darren came up behind her and dunked her with a laugh, "I got her, Jam!"
Derrick heard the first bit and blinked curiously. At the offer, his eyes widened slightly, "Dimitri.." It had to be hard to offer Derrick that, after Dimitri was finally freed. The thought was appealing, he wanted to be able to visit with his siblings..but would Dimitri be unhappy? Derrick nuzzled his hand again, "Only if it won't hurt you. You're more important to me, Dim." he said softly.

Jaime laughed and held up a hand to give Darren a high five. "Nice one!" he said.
Dimitri looked into Derrick's eyes. "All I care about now is you being happy," he said softly. "I'll admit...it won't be easy for me to adjust, but as long as you're with me, I know I could handle anything. Besides...you'll be able to hear me now, so that will make it easier." He picked Derrick up and pulled the chain that had the lightning bolt on it. "All we have to do is connect these and we'll be back to normal," he said.

Sorcia came back up with a huff, "Now that's definately cheating! You're ganging up on me!" She swam backwards a few feet away narrowing her eyes though amusement shined in them.
Derrick heard this and felt warmth running through him. "You're wonderful, Dimitri." he said sincerely, sniffing a bit and glancing to the necklaces. He put a paw up to Dimitri's hand and looked to him, unable to put them together, but able to do that much at least. "I'll switch us back tonight, Dim. I promise." Derrick wasn't going to keep Dimitri as a dog.

Dimitri kissed Derrick's head while he still could. "You're more wonderful, D," he whispered in the other's ear. With a sigh, he connected the necklaces. The same strange feeling and sensation of cold passed through him, and when he opened his eyes, he was looking up at Derrick, his tail wagging.
Jaime couldn't stop laughing. "So...cry me a river, Sorcy," he said teasingly as he splashed at her.

Derrick heard the whisper and his eyes widened slightly. And then there was a feeling of cold, and when he opened his eyes..he was looking down at Dimitri, whose tail was wagging. He clenched and unclenched his fists, feeling his body once more. And then he looked to Dimitri and he scooped Dimitri into his arms, hugging the other tightly though not painfully as he pressed a kiss to the other's furry head. "My little furball." he said warmly and with a sniff, feeling emotional. Derrick pressed a kiss to Dimitri's snout as he said gratefully, "Thank you, Dimitri."
Sorcia prepared to speak, only to see a form and loud splash as Maddix jumped in. The food was cooking so he had a little time to spare. He grinned and splashed water at them all, "The fun has arrived!"

Dimitri looked up at Derrick from his place in his arms. He savored the feeling of being in Derrick's arms and each kiss the other gave him. "Always yours," he replied to the first comment. He closed his eyes and let out a small whine. "Any time...like I said- you're the most important thing to me. I'd do anything for you."
Jaime looked over at Darren with a fake exasperation. "Oh, no...big bad Maddix is here...we're in sooooo much trouble," he said, clutching his chest melodramatically.

Derrick smiled as he heard Dimitri's voice. He wouldn't have done this if the other couldn't talk to him anymore. At the words, his expression softened and he pressed his cheek to Dimitri's for a moment. "Same to you, Dim." With one more kiss to his head, Derrick rose and exited the poolhouse, seeing everyone in the pool already. He looked at them before glancing down to Dimitri with a grin, "I guess since you were nice enough to give me my body, I should be nice back and not throw you in the pool." he teased, holding the other close against his bare chest.
Maddix grinned and swam forward, catching Jaime around the neck and headlocking him as he began poking Jaime's waist to tickle him, "What was that, squirt?"
