Stella smiled and ate as he drove. She fell asleep for a little while, waking up and looking at Gage. She laughed and color tainted her cheeks and she looked out the window to watch the cars and trees zoom by. With a sigh she looked back over at Gage, as they entered Colorado Springs. She was full of giddy with laughter and smiles.
Unbeknownst to her a semi started to push into their lane and she didn't realize until they were being pushed between the center divide and the semi. Surprisingly she didn't scream, not one peep. Instead she covered her eyes and waited for it to be over. She knew it was when the sirens wailed and the lights were blinding. Opening her eyes slowly she looked over at Gage. That was when she screamed, the blood scared her. And it was covering Gage.
The EMT's told her to calm down and that she might have a bit of whiplash. They pulled her out of the car, checking out her small injuries. Just a few bruises and minor cuts. She watched as they got him out of the car and she tried to pull away from the EMTs. "Let me go!" Tears streamed down her cheeks and she looked away. It was to hard for her to see him like this..

Waking up in a hospital has to be one of the worst feelings in the world... Gage woke up, and looked around him, taking note of the lines leading into his arms... He sighed and sat up slightly, feeling stitches stretch here and there on his body as he moved... There were bandages everywhere that he could see... What the hell had happened? A nurse came in, smiling at him and checked his fluids, making sure everything was good before she left. Everything seemed to swim for a moment and he was back out for part of the day.
When he woke up, there was a girl sitting by his bed, and he frowned as he looked at her, tilting his head to one side as he looked at her. Taking several tries, he finally spoke as he looked over at her "Do you know what happened to me?" his voice was husky and rough from lack of using it for the last couple of days, and he coughed, cringing as pain filled his ribs when he coughed.

Stella sat near Gage's bed, her head in her hands thinking. Her bruises and cuts and healed and her whip lash was getting better. Every time she closed her eyes she pictured him all bloody so it was a rare moment to find her like that. With a sigh she looked up at the nurse that came in the room and she smiled slowly at her.
She looked over at Gage with a wide smile. Seeing his frown his smile faltered. Something wasn't clicking in his mind. Like he didn't recognize her. Her heart thudded in her chest and hearing his words caused tears to spring into her eyes. "We got in a car accident. A semi decided he wanted our lane..." She spoke slowly, hoping that he would remember what she was saying. This is gonna be a joke.. He's... He's lying..

Gage frowned and sighed, leaning back into the pillows on the bed as the girl spoke. Car accident... semi.... flashes of those memories sprung to his mind, but he still couldn't place her... With a soft sigh, he moved to sit on the edge of the hospital bed, looking down at her. "I know this is a really stupid question, and one that makes me feel like I'm in a really bad movie, but do I know you? I'd like to, but I don't......" he sighed and looked down at her as a doctor came in and started asking questions, Gage answered honestly and after a moment the doctor looked over at Stella. "Don't feel bad, he should regain his memory in time... Until then, just be careful."

Stella's heart drop as he confirmed her worst fears. He didn't remember her.. At all. She listened to what the doctor said but even that didn't make her feel any better. Her heart felt heavy and she couldn't see because of all the tears building up. Stella... Or Stunna as you called me.." She stood up from the chair and looked at him, only causing tears to spill over the rims of her eyes. "If you'll excuse me.." She turned and practically ran out of the room, she stopped when she got to a lobby like waiting room. Slumping into a chair and crying harder than she had ever cried in her life...

A few hours later, Gage was discharged from the hospital... He walked carefully, using crutches, there was a cast surrounding his left lower leg, and as he walked up to Stella in the waiting room, he sighed, looking down at her. "Stell? I'm sorry...." his eyebrows came together as he looked at her, wondering if he'd remember this gorgeous girl in front of him, or if he'd have to just learn all over again...
It was probably not such a bad thing though... Who wouldn't love getting to know a beautiful woman like her.... He sat carefully next to her and sighed "I'm sorry if I've upset you at all.... Believe me, I wish I knew you, I wish I had those memories...."

Stella sat there for what seemed like forever, waiting until he was discharged from the hospital. She heard the crutches before she saw him. She was afraid to look at him, afraid that seeing his confused look would only cause her to cry more. Slowly she looked up at him, looking him in the eyes. Her pale blue green eyes had lost their normal bright luster and were sort of dull as if she had lost a piece of her because of Gage.
It was hard for her to understand any of it. Why him.. Why not anyone else in the whole ******** world.. Anyone.. ANY-ONE! She stood up and looked at Gage, looking at him sadly. "You'll remember eventually... But for now.. I'm sort of responsible for you." She turned and walked a few steps, looking to see if he would follow.

Gage frowned and stopped Stella with one hand, looking down at her as he took her hand. "Stella, you don't have to be "responsible" for me... Yeah, I don't remember you, but I know there's something here." he grabbed his phone and shower her the background, a picture of them he'd taken at some point. "I can't stand seeing that look in someone's eyes, whether I remember or not..." he leaned down and kissed her softly, just the barest brush of lips.

Stella froze as she felt Gage's lips brush against hers. That was more painful that him not remembering her. She stepped away from him and sighed. "I'm sorry." She turned and gripped his hand like a friend, leading him out of the hospital and the car she rented while his was being repaired and such. Waiting for him to get in the car, taking the crutches from him and putting them in the back of the car. Getting into the drivers seat she fumbled around with the keys before shoving them in the ignition and driving to a hotel. She checked in and lead him up to the room. Thankfully the luggage and such had been saved from the wreck and was brought up to their room.

Gage sighed as he entered the room on crutches, he looked around and sat on one of the beds, looking at Stella.. "I feel like nothing more than a burden..." he shook his head as he looked down, setting the crutches to one side as he did so... He was frustrated to the extreme, and had no idea what he was supposed to do.....

Stella sighed and sat next to Gage, resisting the urge to lean on him, and hug him and kiss him. With a sigh she angled her body towards him. "If you have any questions. Any at all.. I'll answer them. I promise you your not a burden...I love you to much for you to ever be a burdern." Her last sentence was barely above a whisper and it took all her strength to keep herself from falling apart at the seems. She was going to have to stay strong for him..

Gage looked over at Stella as a memory flashed through his mind and sighed, looking over at Stella. "I have some memories, but they're like... Like watching a movie... I don't remember them, they're just there, images in my head..." his cheeks flushed red as he looked over at her and then away rather quickly.

Stella saw his cheeks flush red and she couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about. She bit her lip and put two fingers on the side of his jaw, turning his face to hers. "What were you thinking about?" She smiled, completely clueless about his thoughts.

Gage sighed as he met Stella's eyes and shook his head. "I have memories, of us in a shower... Little flashes of that keep coming across my brain.... I don't know if they're real... Are they? I mean, I can see you stretched out below me..." he stopped and his cheeks darkened even further as he turned his eyes away from her...

Stella's cheeks flushed red and she looked away. Remembering that night and giggled. "Um.. Um.. Yeah that happened.. On my birthday." her eyes widened a little bit and she was surprised that out of all things that was what he remembered. She saw his blushes and thought it was the most adorable thing in the world.. If only he remembered her.
