Tam sighs and leads her to a small alcove. "I can pretty much guess, though you can try to see if I'm wrong. He saw Hopian sire tear into him when he thought that Kero and Hoipe had betrayed him. At least that is what I suspect he saw based on what he was screaming in my ear at the time. Tam flinches as he moves and is grateful she cannot see this.

*Lunria shakes her head*
No....his majesty only snapped his neck...he slapped his head with his paw, forgetting how brittle a cub's bones are...
What they were dreaming of was Hopian's real father, who disembowled him in a fit of abusive rage...that's how Hopian became a vampire...the virus is carried through bone...and a lion's claws are bone, not keratin...

Tam sighs heavily. "Ye could have fooled me, I would have sworn they were some form of alloy from the way Kero's slices me open all the time. So how did his true sire become infected? and how did he manage to sire a cub... or was he infected after the fact?" asks Tam craning his neck, hoping to catch sight of Sharmistra as she leaves the temple. "I'm sorry... I should have introduced myself. I'm Talesian. I take it you are Lunria... Hope has told me a little bit about some of the gem children... you were one of those he spoke of."

*Lunaria nods her head*
Yes, I'm Lunaria, child of the moonstone, weakest of the lightning children...and their bones have naturally evovled to a sort of allow hardness...
And he was sired about a year after Hopian was born...so he was very young...

Tam nods thoughtfully. "Which explains the rage. Why was he even allowed to live? No offense, Lunaria... but in most societies, the kin are killed, and if not that then driven forth, so as to protect those who are as yet whole."

*Lunaria sighs*
Because Desert Miners accept Vampirism as a disease, much like humans accept HIV...and Hopian was driven away...he ran off to protect himself, smuggled out by his mother...

Tam sighs heavily . "A disease it is, Lunaria, but one that has few recoveries without divine intervention. Both Kero and Hopian are rarities. That they also survived the disease with their minds intact shows something of their great spirit. In my work as a guardian, we have laid more than a few to rest."

Did they ever tell you how they were cured?

Tam thinks for a bit and starts to shake his head, then stops with a self-centered laugh. "No... Hope started to, but then we got interrupted. He promised to continue the talk but never has. We've had other things on our minds of late. Kero has been keeping us busy."

He always was a pawful...there was a time he froze Hopian nigh on solid in the small waterfall they bathed in...

"Okay, now that makes no sense at all... how did he accomplish that one, seeing he hates the cold almost as much as Hope does." laughs Tam softly. A sound in the hallway catches his ear, but it is only one of the temples servants, carrying packages.

*Lunaria laughs*
Oh...he was wishing for cold afterwards....but he took an ice gem into the stream about ten feet above Hopian...and cracked it...not a powerful one...but strong enough to freeze all but his head...which he had kept out of the waterfall so e could breathe...we still reference that to tease Hopian...Fortuniana once told Kero she wanted, for her birthday dinner, a well seasoned piece of seared antelope...and a Desert Miner on the rocks...

No...but her majesty sure did...Hopian ran off the instant he found out what was going to happen...anyways...
Kero and Hopian cured themselves with Fire...but they needed a special kind to burn out Vampirism...the fire of Love....which just so happens to be contained in the Garnet, belonging to Pyropian...the child of Love...

"Kero, before he entrusted himself to me once hinted at that, of course he never fully explained what he meant. Rarely does. That mage guards close more secrets than a high class whore." Suddenly he falls silent. "Ummm... sorry, probably shouldn't have said that." he adds in a low embarrassed whisper.
