Jack let her hand go when she went to lean on the railing. He had to admit, the sight was breathtaking. "Yeah, perfect spot."He agreed, joining her at the rail. At her inquiry, he raised an eyebrow. He was about to say "Fine." The typical answer, but something told him she would not be satisfied with that answer. Instead he asked, "How do you mean." She was smart, and he knew she had specific reasons for asking, though he wondered what she expected him to answer her with. Was she regarding his news injuries? His shady and dangerous past? HE searched her face for any tell, but could not figure it out. His hazel eyes met hers, but he found he could not hold her gaze. He looked away, back at the ocean. Why was it that the ocean spawned such melancholy feelings?

Mia, it's me, Kiki. Something happened to Kiyiya's profile and I'm trying to get it fixed. I'll be responding with my friend's account since he doesn't come on anymore.

Delia opened her mouth to answer, but shut it just as quickly. It was then she realized she wasn't sure what she'd meant by it, only that she was worried about him. She had all kinds of worries and feelings, and they didn't stop with her schoolwork unfortunately. She cared deeply about him, and though that was a very good thing in some cases, it meant she was rather stuck in that zone of.. well, caring. After gazing over the glittering horizon in thought for a moment, she turned back to him and shrugged. "Maybe I worry too much," she said aloud with a small indifferent laugh. "I just want you... to be safe..." she added, looking out over the balcony again, not really aware of what she was saying.

Jac smiled warmly, liking the feeling of someone genuinely worried about him. "I'm working on it. Don't worry. As long as no one from Inland City finds out I'm here, I'll be fine." He stepped sideways, closer to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. It was the closest thing to a hug he had freely given in more years than he could remember. It seemed a bit awkward, but he wanted to show his appreciation for her care and, what? Love? Was he ready to call it that? Was she? It seemed too soon, and the concept of love in any other way aside from Motherly and lust was a bit warped. A life like his tended to do that.

Whatever he was feeling for her, and her for him, he liked it, and hoped he would get used to it. He hoped he would be allotted the time to get used to it, and as long as his whereabouts remained unknown, he would have time. He gazed out over the ocean, content, and actually happy Delia had dragged him to the Gazebo. It was nice, the late morning air sending just the right amount of sea smell up to them on the breeze. "The perfect spot..." He muttered to himself, then looked at Delia, her golden brown eyes sparkling with the reflection of the sun off the water's surface. It was his turn. He had to make up for all of the kisses she stole that first night in his motel room. He leaned in, reaching up with his hand to touch her cheek gently and pull her face towards his. Their lips touched and he closed his eyes.

Delia watched the water move for a moment as he spoke, hearing his answer but only being a little reassured. It wouldn't be like her to be 100% sure of herself. Inland City, huh? she thought, wondering what that city was like. She wondered a lot about him and his past, and lately she was finding it hard to calm her brain as well as her nerves. A small sigh escaped her lips when she felt his arm wrap around her in a reassuring sort of way; awkward, but reassuring all the same.

At the sound of his voice, she turned to look at him again, and the look in his eyes made her smile. The way he looked at her, like she was something so miraculous.. well, it made her blush as much as she smiled. She couldn't help being a little taken aback by it too, not used to the feeling of someone gazing at her in such away. His touch was more reassuring than his words, and as warm as the look in his irises. She had opened her mouth to speak, but whatever words she felt she could fathom were long gone as her lips connected with his in the soft kiss. She leaned into him just a bit, feeling a blush blossom up her neck and into her cheeks.

Jac leaned in when he felt Delia lean in, making it that much more intense. When he let go, he found himself slightly out of breath, and he smiled. He definitely liked these feelings. He had liked the others he had with the other girls, but this was more... real? More lasting? It felt more permanent, Not fleeting like before.

He cleared his throat, "Ahem... So... were we gonna get to your laptop or..." He trailed off, lost in her radiance. "Or we could stay here a little longer. Whatever's fine." He leaned on the railing of the gazebo, letting the breeze re-energize him. his morning just went from Bleh to Wow in just a kiss. He was already satisfied with the day.

Delia's heartbeat had increased tenfold, but she hadn't even noticed how flushed she was till they finally parted. It was strange how they both seemed to be affected by such a kiss; even though it was something so trivial and silly, it was nice. She'd never felt this sort of connection with anyone, despite her plethora of friends.

She watched him with intrigue and mild amusement as he leaned against the balcony, looking rather pleased with himself. "How about we get you set up on the laptop, then get an even closer view of the ocean?" she suggested with a small shrug, liking the idea of the feeling of sand between her toes. She'd been there for a couple weeks now, and still she had yet to even go near the salty shores.

Jac found her idea to be a good one. "Sounds good to me." He said, pushing himself from the railing with a slight grimace, still stiff. "To your dorm then?" He asked, remembering her mentioning her laptop was there. "I'll follow you." He took her hand and let her lead the way.

The beach sounded nice, and it had been a while since he had been there. Another thing he hadn't done since his mother was killed. There seemed to be a lot of things that fell into that category. Thanks to Delia, he was able to experience things like that again. She really was something else. The one good thing in his life full of regrets.

No worries. Still no word back from Gaia about my account :/ I can't even seem to get a hold of a real person. Nothing but automated robots. Makes me want to punch my screen.

Delia nodded and slipped her fingers between his and held on gently. She led the way back through the courtyard toward the dorm buildings. A couple people greeted them on their way, most of whom were either Delia's acquaintances or Danielle's "besties". It was strange saying hello to that many people; they seemed to notice Delia more when she had a man on her arm.

When they arrived to her dorm, she couldn't help but laugh a little bit to herself at the thought of it, letting go of his hand to grab the key from her pocket and unlock the door. The hallway had been empty except for a few others who barely noticed them, too immersed in their studies or their phones. Delia pushed the door opened, revealing the decent-sized dormitory room. "Danielle?" she said aloud, expecting a giddy squeal in reply. But the dorm was empty. Delia let out a sigh of relief and shut the door behind them. "Guess she's at class." Though she said this, she highly doubted that she'd have a class this early, despite being a fellow freshman. It was still rather early in the morning for any major classes to be going on just yet.

Delia moved to her bed and pulled out her laptop, then turned it on. "So," she began while waiting for the page to load, "You nervous to be going back to school?"

io3121
Oh geez! How aggravating!>< I'd probably want to punch my screen too if I were you.

Jac was led through campus, and was surprised at how many people seemed to be friends with Delia. She sure seemed popular. It was a little strange, having to smile in greeting to so many people in such a short span of time and distance. He didn't want to seem rude to all of these people, but at the same time, their blatant friendliness was unnerving. Where he was from, being new wasn't so friendly.

Jac was relieved to get to the dorm room and find that Danielle was out. He knew how she could be, and after that parade through the grounds, he did not want that cyclone of a girl whirring about them. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, subconsciously realizing he was in her territory now and didn't want to touch anything. When she sat on her bed, he came over to stand beside her, looking at the boot up screen. "Little bit. Can you tell?" He answered, shrugging. "Been quite a while. It feels... weird."

Delia looked up at him when he came to stand next to her, peering at the laptop. Her bed wasn't much, but at least she'd made it up real quick before leaving, whereas Danielle's was an overflowing pile of blankets and pillows. She pat the spot on the bed next to her and scooted back to lean against the wall, clicking away on the mouse pad to get to the school website. She paused before going on to look at him again and reply. "What made you decide to drop out of school, anyway?" she asked, more curiously than anything. She wasn't about to lecture him for it or anything; she knew he'd probably had more than his fair share of that, and even if he didn't she wasn't about to start up with it anyway. It was simply the pique of curiosity that made her ask; she wanted to know more about him after all.

Jac sat when invited, scooting back to lean against the wall as well. He was silent when she asked about his schooling, thinking about it himself. "It's just..." He was struggling at the right words. It seemed like it was jumping into the middle of a story, and he wanted to tell it like it wasn't his own fault. "You see, my mother and baby brother died when I was young, and it sent my dad into a dark place he never crawled out of. I was about to enter Jr. High and...well, even though my dad was there, he wasn't really..." He frowned, hoping she understood what he meant. "So without parents, I got into trouble." There was more, but he didn't want to tell her that. His father was there enough to beat him, but he never ran away because he didn't want his sisters to become the target. "I got into the wrong social circles and that followed me to high school. It became more important to me to make money... under the table, than for me to show up to school. Once I was eighteen, I figured I didn't have to even show up anymore and I never graduated." He sighed. Hearing himself now, he felt like the biggest screw up that ever disgraced the earth.

At first, Delia wasn't sure what to say. She could have inferred most of what he said, but she could still tell there were bits and pieces missing. She didn't plan on prying anything else out of him, especially when she saw how it made him look when he explained himself. A part of her wondered if he ever had anyone to really talk it out with. It seemed to be a necessary thing for most humans, she'd learned. Pent up emotions never got anyone very far, after all. After a moment of silence, she took laced her fingers with his again, her thumb tracing soft circles over his skin. His hands were much bigger than hers, but somehow it still seemed like the perfect fit.

"I'm sorry you got tangled up in such a mess," she said quietly, the words feeling breathy between her lips. She wanted to offer her help, in any way she could. She wanted to say something bold and brash like she had to him a couple days ago, but the words would not find their way past the back of her tongue and so they stayed there, stuck. With her other hand she scrolled through websites till she found the college's web page. "Well, I suppose jumping back into your education couldn't do much harm, could it?" she added in a light tone, attempting to cheer him up.

Jac was so done talking about his past and he was grateful when Delia had made it to the website. He scooted closer and looked at the screen. "Jeez, they expect people to navigate through this?" He scoffed. He never really liked working with computers. He never had a reason to, and it seemed necessary. He sighed and looked for the sign in button, finding it at the top right of the page. "There I think." He said pointing to it, though she probably already knew her way around this site. With her help, he would be able to get in and registered. The closer he got to actually doing it, the more he felt the nervous pit in his stomach grow. It was not from his information being put out online, nor his fear of going back to school. It was the sudden realization, after looking at the list of majors he was eventually going to have to choose from, of the uncertainty of his life in the future. His previous life never had him thinking of anything after the next day, because he was never promised another day. It was more likely for him to end up dead before tomorrow than to wake up to another day.

Now, he was trying to start a new life, and the thought of a future was scary. The thought that what he did now would directly effect the events of his life later on down the road, and that he was more likely to live to see its consequences, was a strange and chilling feeling. Could he really change? Could he really leave that life behind and live a normal one? His hands shook as he stared at the screen.

Delia followed his index finger to the button and clicked, not bothering to explain she already knew fairly well how to navigate the site. It occurred to her that he may not have, which in turn reminded her of those several weeks sitting at the dining room table with her mother chatting to her heart's content, ready to pull her hair out. It had been a lengthy process finding the "right college", more than she would have hoped for anyone else she knew. And yet here they were, in her actual college dormitory, even now preparing to enroll Jac as well. What a strange transition...

Blinking, Delia continued maneuvering her way through clicks and taps of her mouse through the numerous sections and subsections the website contained. She paused for a moment at the list of majors when she noticed Jac was practically shaking beside her. Her eyes darted to his hands and she bit her lip. "Hey, it's gonna be fine," she reassured him with a gentle nudge. She was no mind reader, but she had a feeling she could guess what he was thinking about; the future was a scary thing, but it was also a fear she'd managed to clamp a hold of a few months prior. "I'll help you through everything," she continued, meaning more than just filling out information on the website.
