Kojiro would turn his wakizashi on the statue-part-wielding goblin next, delivering a wound that would hobble most samurai; however, it seemed illogically undeterred by the attack!
Miyako would close to stabbing range if stabbing became necessary, though a Hare blocked her attempts at doing so.
Denbe would get his kick on, if you know what I mean, by punting one goblin into the stone wall of the shrine! It bounced off rather loudly, probably causing anyone who didn't expect the attack to wince by the sheer volume of the sound.
The four "regular" goblins would all lash out at Kojiro, rolling fairly well, but his quick initiative saved him lots of undue pain! Both stabby and smashy things pound against his armor, ignoring the obvious open areas which would in fact actually harm their victim.
Masuyo, light these suckers up!

Masuyo wasted no time in rolling the scroll open and reciting its prayer. She felt the calling of the cosmos and was as one with the spirits as she concentrated intently upon the goblin-covered Scorpion, and at the end of her chant a simple phrase, infused with supernatural power, "Fires of Purity!"
The fire kami would answer her desperate call, wreathing the Bayushi in warm flames... or rather, warm for him and his equipment. For anything else that touched him, they were a great deal more painful.

That... isn't what I had meant by "lighting these suckers up"... but it works! Masuyo would appeal to the fire kami to protect Kojiro, and they were all too happy to oblige. Kojiro would suddenly light up like an inferno, bathing the interior of the shrine with a bright light. But, contrary to how it appeared, he seemed to be the only thing NOT being burned by the fire!
You would think that would do a good job of getting the goblins off of the Scorpion bushi. For any sane being, you'd think they would move on to a nonflaming target immediately. But no. Not goblins. The worst it seemed to do was agitate them further (and burn them, I guess).
The one with double-crossed eyes would seem to quake in response to this, and at the top of its voice, it would empty its lungs by screaming out "HANDOKETSUUUUUU!"
Attack roll: 30 vs TN 29. Damage: 22
It would take the broken hilt of the bokken it was wielding and bludgeon the hell out of Kojiro's "honor", so to speak. A blow so devastating, it would cripple the bushi!
Tides of Battle knocks Kojiro's initiative down by 1.

Firstly, Kojiro would spend his remaining void point to avoid a major portion of the damage delivered by the bakemono. The Scorpion managed to check his rage as he swung at the bakemono that just hit him. He couldn't really put the full force of his weight behind the blow due to fear of missing, but he aimed for the point in between the damn thing's eyes.

That left only one goblin untouched- the rest were looking at least a little disoriented or battered and wobbly. Focusing on the older goblin, the Hare held his katana low and twisted, throwing his body's weight back in a short hopping-spin. And slammed his heel into the monster with force enough to rival a Hida's hammer.
"Bayushi-san, can you get out?" the Hare shot in hurriedly as he backpedaled ten feet, out of the shrine and just to the side- clearing the way for Kojiro to struggle out.
Or Miyako's knives to go in.
