Rynmerith-- I hate photoshop for coloring >u< But never in a million years would I be able to color like that with them! I'm also terrible at painting :/ [I also have crappy brushes cause I can't afford good ones so that doesn't help X3 lol]
The Leech Festival-- OMG I WISH I HAD YOUR ABILITY TO ACCESSORIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! scream I just...can't ;3;

IRONICALLY I SOMETIMES WISH THAT I COULD SETTLE FOR PLAINER DESIGNS.
Silvern ffffffff such a huge improvement and I love the clothing design on the second one.

@ cbcg11h1xj13 Thank you. :') After the first year or two, I finally began improving on anatomy and this past year I began getting a lot better at it~ <3
@ The Leech Festival Nevah settle. ; o ; Your designs are pretty and I wish I could come up with that complexity. Buutt, thank you~ I never have time to finish my own personal designs, but that's my dream avatar on Ernya that I did to show my style change.

The Leech Festival-- well yeah I guess if you're going to be drawing it over and over you wouldn't want all that on there, but I'm so uncreative when it comes to details. it's bad ._.;
Silvern Strings-- lol I thought I was awesome at anatomy when I first started drawing....until I actually looked at a person then back at my drawings X3 it was terrible

@ cbcg11h1xj13
:') I've always known I was awful at proportions. Only now I'm getting a little better because I'm learning to structure my characters better.

Well that's good ^^ On the other hand though, as long as you're not doing realism, odd proportions can be okay :3 you just have to make them work with your style [like big heads, big hands, long necks, etc]

I don't think there was a point when I specifically started, but
here's something I had on my deviantart in 2005:

and here's something I finished yesterday:

I think it's fair to say I've progressed. =P

@hellosara: wow... I had a hard time deciphering what the first image was, it looked almost abstract, but now your art is very beautiful : D I love your shading!!!! the hair must take you such a long time to do @o@!!!!

Haahh, I know (about the first one) - I've no idea what I thought I was doing. Maybe it was a case of 'if I keep shading, it'll start looking good...'
Anyways, thankyouuu. <3 The hair doesn't really take any more effort than anything else, I just cheat and shade in long, thin strokes instead of blocks.
