Larkanna spun around and buried her face in his chest when the creature had leaped over them. "Knowing her... something atrociously evil." She whispered, doing her best to keep the calm that had begun to pulse through her veins as if it were blood. Then after a moment of standing there, she took a step back and this time began to run instead of sneak across the bridge.

Elkand nodded in agreement and began to run with her trying to cross the bridge when the dragon flew over head again. He ducked " I hate this place.' he said. The dragon seemed to land on a rock ahead of them. The dragon held its head up and seemed to gather a green flame in front of its mouth before unleashing it towards them. It threatened to destroy them and the bridge completely however it missed by a bit. He pulled her back " Don't move." he said and held her close to him, arms wrapped tightly around her. The dragon gathered up more flame and this time he was going to make sure he was going to miss. Elkand was trying to think of something to do but it was hard.

Larkanna stopped dead in her tracks as she also wrapped her arms around him to keep both of them steady. Watching the dragon, she knew that it was trying to get as much pleasure from their fears as it could before actually killing them. "You're part dragon." She stated, a mad idea, but it was the thought that counted, forming in her mind. Looking up at him, she asked, "Wouldn't you be able to speak their tongue if you unburied all of teh dragon knowledge that is passed from mother to child?"

Elkand thought about it and looked down at her " I...forgot." he said. He had honestly forgotten he was part dragon as he was more concerned with living but with that knowledge maybe he could attempt such a thing. He looked at her " Larkanna...your a genius!" he said " I could try and access that knowledge, I'm sure its up there somewhere!" he said and hugged her as a way of saying thanks. He moved past her for a moment just as the dragon was just about to attack Elkand closed his eyes and started to search through his mind. The dragons flame got bigger every second and just as it was about to let is loose Elkand opened his eyes but they were a deeper shade of green " Itheik! Itheik! Wux tir ti tepoha ekess tir nomeno!." he said in the dragons tongue.
The dragon stopped gathering flame and it dissipated. He looked closely at Elkand confused before it spoke "Wux renthisj hesi xanalre?" it asked in a deep voice that soundly mostly composed of growls.
Elkand nodded "Batobot si tir jennu darastrix, si mi luh darastrix." he explained to the decaying dragon "Sia dask jahus vi wyrven relgra lujei." he said. Elkand was confused himself but it completely saved their life and that he was thankful for but he was so worried now that he had unlocked part of his dragon knowledge something in his mind would breakdown or he might start to change.
The dragon stared and spread its wings flying...hovering in the air "Si shilta ocuir truth persvek dout saurivic ghergo darastrix, si geou zexenuma sia ibafarshani ihk wux vur dout rumag." the dragon said knowing Larkanna wouldn't understand them but then an idea occurred to it. The dragon lowered its head onto the bridge so they could climb on "Si geou wiap wux ekess wer sulta, ios ve wux geou tepoha ekess ehaism wer dread adulese." he said.
Elkand looked back at Larkanna as he clibmed onto the dragon and held out his hand " He is willing to lend us aid and fly us to the end." he said. Elkand was surprised he was able to speak it well but somehow it was engrained into his brain. He seemed to have faint memories of his true mother speaking to him before she went off. She did seem to cast a spell on him in one but he didn't know what spell that was.

Larkanna listened to his words, finding that she couldn't understand them even slightly. For all she knew, he could be telling the dragon that it could eat her so long as it let him free, but she knew Elkand wouldn't do something like that. After the conversation was finished, all she really cared about was that it wasn't going to burn them to a crisp. Takig his hand, she also climbed onto the ancient creature's head. "What on earth did you say to it?" She asked.

Elkand simply stared at her as the beast took off. It was minutes before he answered her as he had to guess himself as he had seemed to forget what he had at first as he was still surprised he spoke it. He shook his head " Oh I um I simply told it that I was half dragon and who my mother was." he said. He shrugged " I guess some dragons respect others." he looked down " That or he's tired of working for my step mother and wants her gone as much as you do." he said as the dragon along the old long bridge and deep into a heavy mist but things still seemed to be fine. Elkand was glad for a moment of peace and quiet.

Larkanna nodded, "Well, I'm glad that you stepped up to the plate for that." Looking down, she saw the sea of flesh-eating creatures and grimaced before looking back up at Elkand. Kissing his cheek, she gazed about as if she hadn't done so as she said, 'Whatever the case is, I believe that the dragons are more intertwined with our fate as our bond is."

Elkand was a little stunned by her quick kiss on his cheek and simply shook his head almost like he knew it never happened. He chuckled " It appears so, dragons have much to do with out fate." he said " By years end I have a feeling dragons will somehow influence if we make it through or not." he said and shrugged " However I'm afraid that if we do confront Lillet there is a chance she will sever the bond we share and take you or kill you." he said. He shook his head and took a deep breath "This bond is odd I will admit, but obviously we've been set for something." he said with a slight smile " I take pleasure in knowing that fate has set these events in motion...I've learned quite a bit over the time we've spent together." he smiled "How do you think Wyrm is doing?" he asked.

Larkanna looked up at him and sighed, "Then we've still got a long ways to go if dragons are also a majority as to whether we'll live to see next year or not. And hopefully she won't have the chance to do that to me or either of us." So far, the only dragon that hadn't immediately tried killing her or both of them was Wyrm, and just the thought of him being in the afterlife made her feel a tad bit lonely. She missed his nonchallant comments here and there about how well they were doing on such a whim. "He's... frantic, actually. Which is odd... he was never really the type to panic."

Elkand nodded " That is odd." he said " I wonder whats happening then." he said and looked back at her. He was a little curious how she knew it but it wasn't the time to worry about that " I guess we should check when we're done here." he said. He felt them begin to descend before the dragon landed in front of a gigantic door. Elkand stood and jumped down and stretched " Finally we made it!" he yelled and smiled before he heard calling. He looked over to see Lillet standing by the door. " Well done young witches and wizards!" she yelled cheerfully " You have made it to the 50th floor of the silver tower!" she said " As you have made it this far you will be permitted a day's rest especially as the tower reconfigures itself." She smiled " Beyond this level the tower only gets more dangerous and you will truly be permitted to die...but first you must be prepared." she said and a silver symbol appeared on his hand before he called again Elkand and Larkanna appeared in a grand dining hall with hundreds of other pairs that had entered the tower and made it to the same floor. Elkand immediately felt a little dizzy as the energy they expended from the other challenges hit him hard. He slowly walked over and sat in a decorative black chair next to another wizard and a female draconian. A chair pulled itself out for Larkanna right next to him as they that all the way at the edge of the table.

Larkanna had an inkling of a thought as to what was going on in the land of the dead, but they descended and climbed off before she could say anything. Lillet appeared and instantly Larkanna had her sword unsheathed and her eyes filled with a wild warning. But instead of attacking them like she'd assumed the sorceress would, they were transported into a giant dining room filled with others that had made it to that same level alive and weak. Sitting beside Elkand, she felt the glares of hatred from weary wizards and sorceresses on the back of her skull. She was a witch and she shoudln't even be allowed into the wizarding competition. Instead of feeling disheartened, she was too tired to truly care. A young wizard child of about ten walked over, a curious expression on his face as he asked her, "Aren't you a witch?"
Smiling triedly, Larkanna replied, "Yes. And aren't you a wizard apprentice?"
The boy smiled a little, glad to see that she wasn't as cranky as he'd been told witches were. "Yeah, but why are you here? Why didn't you die in the tower like the others had betted you would?"
This perked her curiosity as she sat up a little and looked into his eyes, "I would've suffered a painful death if I hadn't of had Elkand by my side. But, might I ask about the betting? There were wizards and sorceresses betting on whether I'd make it out alive?"
"Lots of the magic within that tower strengthens certain magicians, especially those with wizarding magics. It's said that your type of magic would be useless there."
Glancing over at Elkand, she said, "Interesting.... I'll keep that in mind tomorrow. Please enjoy your evening." Then the young boy ran off with several other wizard apprentices his age.

Elkand hadn't heard the conversation between Larkanna and the young wizard as he laid back with his eyes closed and hand on his head before he heard the words " So you and yuor witch seemed to make it through alright." he opened his eyes wide and sat up looking behind him to see a man with an outfit much like Elkand's only he had a gold sash.
Elkand simply sighed " Not you again, go away." he said in a tired tone.
The man laughed " You still mad at me for turning you into an Elk?" he asked.
Elkand groaned " Yes, I am.' he said " That and you put a hole though my hand." he said growling rather violently.
The man laughed "Oh right, sorry about that but at least I didn't bring a witch to the tower!" he said.
Elkand yawned and breathed out a large cloud of smoke " I'm honestly not in the mood." he said.
The man laughed " Obviously, whatever she'll be dead by level sixty anyway." he said and walked off.
Elkand shook his head and his held his head " I knew that was a bad idea." he said " Now my head hurts and I'm breathing smoke." he said though the smoke eventually stopped flowing form his mouth.

Larkanna had turned in her seat and heard the jist of the conversation. Shuddering a little, she sat back and stared blankly at the wall in front of her. They all think I'm going to die tomorrow... She thought dismally as her competitive attitude told her otherwise. She was going to make it to the top with Elkand. She wouldn't let him down, not now. Looking over at Elkand, she asked, "He seems pretty confident in my abilities." She said coldly.

Elkand nodded " I know." he said " They all seem to think you'll fall in the tower or at least they went you to." he said and looked down at the table " Him especially and thing is he's on of the top wizards at the academy so he's certainly not afraid to say anything aloud." he said and smiled at her " As long as you believe you can make it you will." he told her " Magic works with belief as well as will and I'm sure you believe enough that you'll succeed and you aren't weakened by the tower so you have as much as a chance as the rest of us." he said. He shrugged " You still have a little girl to save." her said tapping the table with his fingers.

Larkanna tried to smile a little when he said that she had to believe in her magic as much as she had to control it. She did believe in her magic, but ever since Elkand's curse had taken on a darker edge, her confidence in her abilities to protect him had started to waver. Then he mentioned that she still had a little girl to save. Sitting up a little straighter, she had completely forgotten about that. "Yes... the poor dear must be so sickened by having to watch others share the same fate as herself." Sighting a piano at the edge of the room, she stood and slowly walked over to it. Using her magic to remove the covering and summoned a bench, she couldn't help but desire something that would sooth her troubled mind, as well as help the others that were becoming rather sickened by what they were seeing within the tower. Her fingers danced across the keys as a warm up, bringing plenty of attention to herself before she began to play a short jig. At first, people simply stared at her as if she were insane, but it would catch on soon enough, that much she knew from experience. The tune was a well-known one and many of the sorcerors and their partners, if they were female, began to dance to it.
To many of the sorcerors, this was causing quite a stir, while others were allowign their minds to wander from the competition and enjoy a dance or two. Several summoned instruments of their own and began to join in.
