The dark haired angel is soaked from head to foot but grinning like an idiot. "I did it... I caught one, and it wasn't a bad size either..." he crows holding up a string with a 7 pound trout on it.
Passura follows him, rolling his eyes and biting his lower lip to keep from laughing out loud. His string has three more on it, all somewhat larger than Bez's.

*Kero nods to Pass, and congratulates Bez on the size of his catch...then he does something that makes the faces of both of them fall*
You two caught them....so you get to clean them...**Polgara much?**

**or me... I have the same rule in my house... I'll cook them, but the only fish I clean are the one I catch.... 3nodding **
Passura shrugs and Bez grumbles, but as he's been doing it for himself for more years than he even wants to remember, it isn't a difficult task, just onerous. He shows Passura where to clean the fish and the pit he uses to collect offal in. "I fill it in with dirt and make a new one nearby after planting a fruit tree over it once it begins to get half full..." he says by way of an explanation.
The boy nods and between the two of them, they make short work of the task, Passura keeping a comfortable distance between the two of them.

*Kero smiles as he watches this, glad the boy is trying to get along with Bez...though he is dreading the start of lessons...he has a feeling Passura might get a little frustrated with those*

The small serpentine frowns when Bez cuts off the fish's head and shows him how to clean it and keep the head intact. "Flesh sweet..." he says quietly pointing to the gill region and the cheek. "Why waste?"
Bez shrugged. "Guess I never thought of that. One fish was always enough for me, so a little waste didn't hurt, especially since I did put it to use as fertilizer. Still you are right. There is mnore of us now and from time to time the fish in the stream do get scarce... I really should start thinking about putting food aside, shouldn't I?"
Passura grins. "Dry it." he suggests with a shrug. "Taste good, easy store."

Passura keeps the larger of the three fish for himself and gives Bez the other two. Then he takes it to the kitchen Kero had built into their cave. Seeing Kero sleeping on his tentacles, he grins and silently begins to gather some familiar spices together to make a baked fish. Reaching into his pocket he pulls out a fist sized yellow fruit, places it on the table and goes outside to find the proper leaves for wrapping the fish in.

*Kero wakes up, sniffing the fruit to determine its identity, and sets to work making his own pieces, pulling out other fish from the Void, kept fresh by the aethr...cleaning these and tossing the scraps back into the Void to be used as fertilizer in a garden, he sets out flour and cornmeal, spices, and, oddly enough, mustard and hot sauce*

The fruit seems to be a cross between a lemon and a lime, it has a sharp tangy citrus smell. When Passura returns he finds Kero hard at work. He plops down the leaves, some wild onions he had manage to dig up and a few tubers that resemble potatoes but are purple in color. He washes the fish and sprinkles it with salt, then thinly slices the fruit, stuffing it evenly inside the fish, then he layers several bruised basil leaves onto the fish before wrapping it all in what appears to be a large banana leaf. He skewers it with thin wooden strips. He eyes the stove and shakes his head, then walks outside with the fish. Kero finds him later roasting the fish over a small slow fire. Passura looks up and smiles widely as Kerobian approaches.
"You like?" he asks eagerly. The smell tells Kerobian that he will indeed like.

*Kero smiles, and explains what he had done to the fish*
So you see, it's called frying...rather unhealthy, but we can all stand a little bit of bad stuff...and I don't have to worry...like I said yesterday, I don't have to eat...I just do it because I like to...

Passura grins and tells Kero that his fish is very healthy and vy very yummy, too. He checks it carefully peeling back a smaller section of the leaf and smiling. Using two sticks he carries it inside and serves it up for both of them.
"Leaves make fish taste good, but sun fruit makes it tastes even better." he remarks using two smaller sticks to eat with.

Well, I sure am impressed...remind me to show you how to cook after the fashion of my people...and Passura...not to mar a beautiful meal..but your schooling starts tomorrow...I'll be testing you on various subjects, to determine where you are...then you'll learn at a pace suited to you...okay?
