Agro climbs back to his desk and looks around to see everyone tired out and the small wooden cat that sat upon Asu's desk, wondering why Luna gave it to her. He shrugged and laid his head on his desk and waited for something to happen.

Once Joe and Kevin have climbed into their desks, Mr. Parguntin smiles happily, and begins to sing them a song, saying a few funny words that Luna recognizes as the letters, only now in tune. Funnily enough, it is a tune she recognizes, though she cannot place the song she has heard it from before. Mr. Par finishes singing, smiling at them, and begins writing on the board, the letters of the alphabet, as he begins to sing again, inviting them to sing with him,
"It's no fun singing alone, children...sing with me."

Asuna tilted hir head looking at the letters on the board and laid hir head back down letting out a slightly audible yawn. Mornings were never hir strong suit, especially after being in the sunlight beam

Luna stares at the chalkboard. Now that the letters are bigger and further apart than on the written page, she can see the differences in them better. It kind of reminds her of how her Uncle Tam had taught her about them in her dream. She tries to sing along, but not very loudly as she doesn't know her letters very well just yet.

Soon, though, Mr. Parguntin has them all singing it as he points to the letters in turn, eventually making it click in their minds that each letter has a name and a sound that it makes. And then the time for writing is up, and he gently stands the students up and gathers them in a single line, leading them to the cafeteria for Lunch.
"Now, some schools require you to buy your lunch, but we don't do that here. Because we get money from other sources, we give our students the food they need, so that they can grow and learn all together. Now, single file, no pushing, and Joe, give Kevin back his candy. You'll get a sweet of your own soon enough."

Agro's face lights up as he hears the f-word that sometimes sends him into a frenzy, he climbs up on Mr. P's shoulder and looks all around wildly for anything for him to eat.

Luna nudges Asu. "Agwo ish hungwy." she whispers with a giggle.

"Agro, you need to get down off my shoulder and get back in line, okay? You'll get your food soon enough, kiddo." Mr. Parguntin says with a smile, putting him back between Asu and Luna, where he had been originally, before he decided to invent the new sport of teacher climbing.
As the line moves down, Luna can see that the cafeteria's food is nothing like her Daddy's. The mashed potatoes are lumpy, the chicken is greasy, and the cookies look burned. There is milk and chocolate milk, but they are in small little cartons, and all the silverware is actually plastic.

Luna looked at the food and suddenly her appetite disappeared. None of it looked appetizing.

Agro looks at Luna "Yoo no hungee?" he said his mouth still half filled with chicken and mashed tatoes.

The cafeteria lady chuckles as she stealthily refills Agro's plate, then moves him out into the cafeteria, where everyone is sitting. All the students together, from youngest to oldest. Only right now, all of them are the youngest of the young.
