We're late... not terrible late, more like fashionably late so ye may be able to pull it off, but I can't go with ye. I'd only set the entire barn into an uproar. Yer young enough I think ye can get away with it... but I can't."

*Kero dives underground, sensing the farm from the directions he memorized earlier...soon enough, he clambers out of the ground at the farm, hoping he emerged unseen*

He's in luck. No one but a few pigs have witnessed his arrival. The sound of someone whistling merrily in the barn leads him to it's door. Inside, John is busy, currying the prettiest pony Kerobian has ever seen. She is a bit on the plump side, but her honey gold hide is offset by a well brushed cream mane and tail. There is humor in her eyes, so much so he almost believes her to be far more intelligent than many a horse he has even seen before.

John turns and greets him with a ready smile. "Master Kerobian, welcome. I was just cleaning her ladyship up for ye. Would ye like to help? And where is Talesian, I thought he was joining us?"

Sira's not feeling well...he's out in the woods right now, trying to take care of it...and I would love to help groom her...but will she let me near her?

John acknowledges Kerobian's question with a nod. "Wellll.... I've been hanging an old blanket of yers over the side of her stall where I hang her feed bucket ever since yer guardian approached me about purchasing a mount fer ye. Old Buttercup here has always been me most steady so I thought she'd be the easiest to win over. Go slow... approach her from the head, where she ken see ye... and we'll see."

At first the pony's nostril flare, then suddenly she takes a step forward and bumps him gently with her head. John laughs and slips him an apple to feed her. "She's looking for a goodie, m'sirra. Feed her this. Told ye... I kind of linked yer scent with the idea of food..."

With a twinkle in her eye she nibbles it carefully from his paw, then nudges him for more.
John laughs. "Oh no ye don't, Missy... yer round enough already. Kerobian, come here, slowly now. Never move too quickly about a horse unless yer willing to risk getting kicked from here to the moon. Now ye take the brush like so and really lean into it. Ye got to get down to the skin and though their hair seems slight it is rather dense. That's it... watch the withers tough... she's a bit ticklish."

Once he has curried her to John's satisfaction, and some time after his arms have begun threatening to fall off, The farmer shows him how to saddle the pony, only the saddle is nothing like he has seen in the past. A thick pad topped with sheepskin replaces the normal saddle, though there is still a cantile of sorts at the front rather than the rear of the saddle and a set of rings at the rear to attach tings.
