Feeling this perhaps meant something- though he hadn't a clue what besides that they were in Crab lands- the Hare prayed first to his ancestors, and then dedicated a short time to the Fortune who's likeness he was looking at. And on a second thought, he continued the prayer, holding out. If Osano-wo held some sway in these lands, all the better that he see that he was well pleased.
When this was done, the Hare conferred with the Scorpion, and decided he would take the second shift tonight- and so barring that Kagae would decide to keep watch with them as well, he'd settle down and spend the rest of his time before going to sleep quietly contemplating and trying to sharpen his mind, honing himself for when his turn came.

After Kojiro made his devotions, Denbe and he arranged the watches for the night. The Scorpion would take the first while Ujina would take the second. Miyako, Masuyo, and Kagae would be left to get proper and full rest for the day ahead.
Since they were so close, Kojiro felt a kind of excitement in the air and tried to maintain the hyper vigilance that he had last night.

In which order do people go into the shrine? If uncertain, I will go in post order (Kojiro, Denbe so far).

Denbe was every bit as wired as the Scorpion when it came his time to rise- but for different reasons. Rising from his rest the Hare sat and kept alert as he could, studying the dark, the sounds, doing everything he could to know if something was coming.
The night before, something up the slope had spotted them. The hadn't gone too far now, and though they should have gone beyond that elevation, and moved to a new mountain...
Tonight, the Hare tucked himself away, trying to be less obvious as he sat near the camp, keeping his eyes peeled, should their mysterious visitor return for another look.

Kagae would once again walk off out of sight with a bundle from his pack but this time a shovel also would be taken from his pack. If no one follows him he disappears for about 30 minutes before coming back a bit dirtier than he was before.
Replacing the bundle he would put his tent up and then stay awake with whoever first watch was.

Miyako wasn't much big on ceremony or the like, but after the last few rough days she figured it wouldn't hurt to hedge her bets and not get on any bad sides, so once everyone was busy with other things, she'd find herself at the small shrine and would send a small simple prayer, even as she wished for a falcon one day, something her father had promised but had never delivered on. Eyes in the sky, soaring above all others, even the tiny overconfident Shosuro had things to dream of.

It seems Kojiro takes the proverbial bull by the horns when it comes to prayer time! Kneeling in the small dark stone shrine, he would bow his head and pray.
Some time would go by, before he heard what would sound like the slightest whisper. Could it be his ancestor, Yogo Sanjuro, trying to communicate with him directly? Was his ancestor taking a direct interest into the affairs of Kojiro?
Or perhaps someone from his Yasuki lineage. It would make more sense, due to his proximity to Crab lands. Maybe the middle-aged Yasuki who helped him with the haiku of the river? He seemed to be very insightful, for an ancestor.
Or maybe it could even be Osano-wo himself, choosing to manifest at his shrine as the Fortune that he was - maybe the Fortune of Thunder and Fire had some direct stake in the situation that was unfolding before the Wardens, and now was finally able to communicate with one of you.
Then the sound of pebbles coming loose would reach Kojiro's ears amidst meditation.
... ancestors don't knock stonework around, do they?
Upon opening his eyes, he would see three pairs of bright yellow eyes in the darkness fixated on him. No, wait, four. Five, even!
Realizing they have been spotted, the eyes would suddenly narrow and flash red...
@ Everyone else: Do you know what the sound a Scorpion makes when he stumbles into a nest and he and his dignity is dogpiled by a brood of goblins?
That happens.
Initiatives are required. Also, the shrine is tiny; if the statue of Osano-wo was not inside, you could probably fit two people in there. There is definitely no room to fight within, and Kojiro is about 5 feet in.
Kagae, you were working on your project. You can decide if you were away, nearby, done, or not yet have begun.
Masuyo, you have not declared anything, so likewise feel free to be in reaction range or not to be, as you see appropriate.

Kojiro's dignity was a small and much trampled upon thing, so it wouldn't interfere in such a close quarters fight. Still.... he could show these goblins what a Bayushi was made of.

Round 1
28 - Shosuro Miyako, Unarmed 27 - Bayushi Kojiro, Unarmed, Covered in Goblins 22 - Ujina Denbe, Unarmed 22 - Elderly Bakemono, Stick drawn 20 - Bakemono with eyepatch, Pointy Thing drawn 16 - Angry Bakemono, Fist of Osano-Wo drawn 14 - Bakemono with large ears, Rock drawn 11 - Kitsuki Masuyo, Unarmed 8 - Doofy-looking Bakemono, Broken Bokken drawn
--------------------
The goblins use up their surprise action piling onto Kojiro without any sort of plan.
Denbe, Miyako, you are with Masuyo, about 40' away. Into the shrine's stone alcove, you see about half a dozen green-skinned tiny humanoids in loincloths crawling over Kojiro frantically, not unlike how hornets or ants would defend a hive. They seem to be letting out a high-pitched war screech that kind of hurts your ears.
Kojiro, you are inside the stone shrine. Your options are limited: It is too cramped to fight with your katana or kusarigama. You suffer a +5 TN penalty to attack rolls with a wakizashi or similarly sized item, and no penalty to use something tanto or aiguchi-sized. Alternatively, you can break free of the swarm by winning a contested Strength/Jiujutsu (Grappling) versus ALL of the goblins. If you succeed, then you can move out of the shrine.
Also, they smell like poo.
