Realizing that they have passed that point already the boy's face falls. "Can't I stay up just a little bit more? Please?"

*Kero shakes his head*
I didn't say I was going to set it....I wanted to talk about it with you....when do you think your bedtime should be?

The boy blinks and looks stunned, an adult asking him what he thought was proper. It was unheard of. He thinks for a bit then hesitantly offers, "When I'm tired..." Kero almost takes him seriously when he sees the ghost of a smile flicker across the boys face, giving him away.

Okay...how about a specific time....I like an hour after sundown...but if you want two, or three, I'm sure we can reach an agreement...

This time Passura doesn't hesitate. "An hour is good, I guess, but can we sit here like this each night? It was fun, Mes'sirrah."

*Kero rubs the boys head*
Of course...okay...so an hour every night, followed by some time to just sit with me...then bed...sounds okay to me...that's how we'll do it...so, our talk is done...and you know what's next...

His pout is marred by an enormous yawn. "Bed time..." he giggles ruefully, rising slowly to his feet.

*Kero scoops him up in both arms, carrying him to his room*
Yep...it's bedtime for a certain son of mine...get some sleep, Passura...tomorrow is another day filled with sound for you...

The boy curls up against him with an inaudible sigh of delight. And when Kero tucks him in he smiles at him and whispers, "Good night, Da."

The next morning he arises a bit later than is his usual wont and finds the boy's bed empty. An empty bowl sitting on the table shows him the child had taken the time to feed himself, so he figures he's outside somewhere or next door. Snatching up apiece of fruit he walks outside to find Lyssan sunning herself at the edge of the clearing before the two caves. She looks up sleepily and give him a tiny grin.
"Little or no sleep... I may just move in with you two if this keeps up, she says with a laugh. "I don't know how they do it. And I thought one was bad...." She stands and stretches then nods towards the stream. "Pasa is fishing and trying to teach Bez how to tickle fish."

How's Tam...and why tickle a fish?

"He told us he was going to fish and Bez wanted to know how he did it if he didn't use a rod or net, so Pasa said he tickles them. I know it can be done, but I honestly can't see how you can catch as many as he does by doing it. So I'm pretty sure he was teasing him... the stinker." she chuckles gruffly under her breath and give Kerobian a wink. "Funny thing... I could have sworn last night that boy was like Jor was as a child... hearing only by the vibrations on his skin... but this morning I accidentally dropped a dish and he jumped a mile high... care to explain?"

*Kero chuckles*
He asked for ears last night...so I gave him the same spell Jor uses nowadays...it transfers sound waves that touch his skin to his jawbone, and from there to his inner ear...basically, it enhances his skin hearing, but in a way that it seems to others and to the receiver that he had ears.

Lyssan nods thoughtfully. "Actually his hearing should be even better than yours or mine then... nice touch. I suspect that within his tribe, everyone looked out for everyone else... they probably had a sort of herd mentality and did things in a group to avoid surprises, probably used trained animals to help out as well. Would make sense if they did. Being alone would make one extremely handicapped."
