Tam smiles and scratches his ears. "So, did the shopping go well... find any bargains?" he asks lifting the basket Kero had brought back with him and placing it on the table.

Tam thanks him for being so frugal with their pursestrings, then asks if he wants some tea and scones.
Shar opens a bundle sitting in front of her and hands the lion a large mouth watering scone. "Don't ask him... just give it to him, he's never turned one down yet."

Shar does a double take, then looks hard at Kero's face. "By the Morning Light... Master Kerobian... why are you here?" she declares worriedly. "Is something else wrong?"

Tam rolls his eyes as he pours Kerobian a bowl of hot spicy tea, then tops it with a bit of cream. "Drink up... Shar brought us down the surplus from her recent shipment..."

"Only one from me..." says Tam with a twisted grin. "While yer up, scan me... tell me... is it permanent?" He doesn't explain what he's talking about to the others, but Kero understands.
"Is something wrong, Talesian?" asks Mica sipping his tea.
Tam shrugs. "Not necessarily... it's just something I need to know... that's all."

Tam sighs, but he doesn't look disappointed, more like resigned. "Figured as much... ah well, it was bound to happen someday I suppose. I wonder what triggered it." Looking back at the others he decides it would be better if a few people knew of his little problem, just in case he needed help.
"You both knew about Ai, how she was me and how she was the opposite of me gender wise, right? Well..." he pauses for a bit to gather his thoughts, then continues. "You've been my healer many times, Shar... and, Mica, heaven forbid it ever happens, but should something happen to me and one of the villagers find me injured or otherwise... you might be called in to explain what they might find. But it's no longer a matter of me being male and she female... we're actually one and the same... a bit of both."
"It's not an entirely unnatural occurance." says Shar calmly. "It happens from time to time, amongst all the races and many animals are exactly that."

*there's a rather good book... Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin that is written on the premise of an entire planet of hermaphrodites... you should read it some time (it's rather unique for it's time, being written in 1969)*
Tam smiles sheepishly at him. "I know you can, but... I've never seen you be both at the same time... it feels... decidedly odd... like my body can't make up it's mind."
