You could have used red paintballs(They make a special blood colored paint)
Or maybe used chocolate syrup(Let it dry to look like old blood stains)

Heck if they did that I might actually stand a chance! We have this like nature trail type of thing near our house I could get lost in XP with a mini lake type of thing and everything
