I'm not going to even try putting a Japanese greeting. Most of my friends have a basic understanding of the language and I have unfortunately been left in the dark, so I've come here for some basics.

Katherine_Angel Aikachi ooh if you catch me speaking weird Japanese, thats Kansai-ben ^^;; I've been trying to learn it =3 what is kansai-ben anyway? sweatdrop It's a particular dialect that's only spoken in certain parts of Japan. I _think_ Kansai dialect is the one where you'd say "arahen" instead of "arimasen" (Negative of 'to be'). I can kind of understand it, from hearing it in animes, but trying to actually speak it would drive me nuts. ^^; Mostly it sounds more nasal than standard Japanese. They also say "nya" instead of "desu" a lot (it's a corruption of "ja"...), and use the personal pronoun "wai" instead of watashi.

I'm Audri and I'm learning Japanese on my own for right now. There's no place where I live that teaches it. I learned a little from different sites, but I'm looking to learn more. I also plan to go to Japan in a few years.
