"Hmm..." He frowns, eyeing the clouds. "Maybe I should have gone with the tea leaves. Still..." He heads to find the Utaku, bowing his head as he does. "I know that it may sound as nonsense, but I drew upon what I know of omens and portents, and it is not good. A corpse filled with arrows and a dragon. It could mean archers are going to trouble us."

As the group gathers with their findings, Jinyu-Zhe sees his lovely wife riding towards him on her beloved horse. He also sees a shadow above her that steadily grew. In a few seconds, a loud screech would fill the air and Utaku Aneksi would be gone, plucked straight off of her Utaku war horse by a dragon!
What are you doing?
Misaki, Jinyu-Zhe, Asura, and Juneko, please roll your intelligence+your insight rank or intelligence+your lore: Gaijin skill, whichever is higher. You will all receive a free raise.

In the blink of an eye, the fates threatened to shatter the very foundation of his world. Jinyu-Zhe was not an archer. He was not an offensive spellcaster. But he was a husband. "Shoot it down!" he would quickly call out. He wouldn't need to order Chishiyo, so he'd use the last 2 words of his free action to say, "Chiyuuai, ride!"Rather than spending a void point for his disadvantage, he would instead spend it to try to keep up with the beast. If Aneksi fell, he needed to be there. Quote: Agility/Horsemanship with void +1k1 on the roll, 4k3 = 15. Void points marked down from 3 to 2. Opting out of making any intelligence-based check at this time.

"What in the Kami is that?!" Misaki yells out as he raises a hand to shield his sight from the sun, hoping to get a better view of it.

The Mantis exclaimed wordlessly while the rest others shouted things, eyes narrowing as she tracked it, pulling pulling a boomerang from her sash, delaying only a moment to perfect her stance for throwing, and winged it at the dragon carrying off the bushi, spinning projectile arcing through the air.
It was unlikely even that fine throw was enough to bring down the monster though- if it was still flying with Aneksi in tow, she'd start running the direction it was headed, shouting to the mounted Unicorn.
"SOMEONE GIVE ME A RIDE!"
She wouldn't be used to throwing from horseback- but she couldn't throw at all if she couldn't keep up with it.
Boomerang Throw: 41 vs TNtbH Damage: 16

Misaki: You've heard about these....in stories told by ancient Mantis who are much closer to gaijin than you are. You are facing a wyvern, a dragon like beast in the employ of fell wizards who often use them to "rescue" their distant cousins from the taint of the Unicorn clan.
Juneko: Your boomerang hits the beast in the wing and it lets out a horrible cry. It can either drop it's quarry and fly, or drop to the ground to fight you all. It chooses to drop Aneksi.
Jinyu-Zhe: You keep pace with the creature. Give me a reflexes/horsemanship roll to catch Aneksi

Quote: Void point spent, 4k3 Reflexes/Horsemanship to catch Aneksi, with a raise to cushion as much falling damage I can, even with my own body if I need to. Result: 9+3+18 = 30 vs TN+5. "Aneksi!" he'd yell, whipping the reigns of his horse to intercept her descent and catch her, even if it meant being flung from Chiyuuai and resulted in his own harm. She deserved nothing less.

Misaki goes to catch up with the others. "Wyvern. Some claim them to be related to dragons despite it's horrible shape. Dragons are graceful and mystical, not some overgrown winged lizard. 'Wizards', as they call themselves, like to employ such beasts, often using them to 'rescue' distant relatives from the Unicorn Clan."
He frowns. "I suggest we leave before it comes around again. It's still has scales and who knows what else."

Juneko grins victoriously as the beast drops Aneksi for all of a moment before she suddenly realizes it wasn't all good. Fortunately, her husband was rapidly approaching, leaving the woman to nod in agreement to the bossman, struggling to figure out if she should run back to guard him, or back toward the previous target AND her boomerang. She didn't feel the need to tangle with a kami forsaken monster, but she wasn't sure they COULD run successfully from something airborne.
