Payton smiled and then balanced her books in one hand while brushing back a stray piece of hair with her other hand. "A love story is always good." Payton agreed. Though the ones she read about were usually mixed in with some action or adventure, maybe even a little magic. There might even be a dragon or an evil wizard or some other twist involved, but a good love story always added something special. Payton could understand why Evangeline had such a preference to romance novels.

At the girl's question, Payton looked back at the books in her arm and gave a small shrug before nodding. "Once I have found a few that caught my eye, I usually read the summary or skim the first few pages." She explained, a small smile on her lips. "Then I pick my favorites and take those home." Payton also kept a list, so the once she didn't take today she would more than likely come back for later.

Cassandra's face was still seething with anger as she was wandering around throughout the streets of Upper Soleil, the cold within her being a bit unstable. Even she was not spared from powers going out of control whenever someone had a bad mood. She ended up with thorny rose bushes along her path, leaving behind the flowers together with their stems in her wake. They would melt soon, but for now, it would best for the others to be cautious, especially with the thorns. While normal thorns induce bleedings, her ice roses were much worse than that, more so with the risk of hypothermia.

Eventually, her footsteps led her to the library, the wooden door visible in her vision, beckoning her to go inside. Cassandra sighed; it would be best for her to look for a distraction, and books might help her at that point. She closed her umbrella and left it behind on the stand just near the entrance before heading inside. Her baby blue eyes took notice of the humungous shelves of books, though she wasn't certain on where to start. Eventually, she took off her coat, still damp with the drops, having to fold it and settle it down on a vacant table together with her bag. Thankfully, there were not many people around except for the librarian and the employees, so the place was mostly free for herself. She sat down, taking deep breaths to calm down, before contemplating on what she should pick to read.

Maybe I should go for a romance novel... Nah, not in the mood for that. Or even a cookbook since I might try new dishes. Ugh, I'm still indecisive. The huntress rubbed a hand on the bridge of her nose, mentally grunting to herself in frustration.

The elegant skeleton allowed his fingertips to skim across the many volumes of books settled on the shelf before him. He was in Soleil's library, a place he had only visited once before. The memory of his previous visit wasn't necessarily a good one as he'd had to stitch his employer's brother back together after the latter had injured himself rather severely- almost cutting his body in half. Actually, Xiomara was surprised that he was even allowed back in the building, but he was glad nonetheless. Today he had ventured outside with the sole intention of coming here to research social etiquette. As secretary and companion to Sage, he felt that this skill was one of importance, and one he was obviously lacking. Now, Xo fulfilled his role as secretary almost faultlessly, however, his role as companion was not nearly as well done. Lately he had felt that his services were in need of improvement. He felt that he had not allowed himself to converse with Sage outside of work, and that was something he needed to work on. He needed to become more of a companion to his employer, whilst still fulfilling his secretarial role, and so he was here today to find books to help him with this task. As the expressionless creature he was, naturally one can assume that he was not accustomed to dealing with others in a social setting. He was used to just blending in with the background and becoming a shadow until his charge was threatened. Bodyguards weren't generally social which had been the appeal of such a career. Xiomara had done his job as a bodyguard better than his current work as secretary, which was saying something. With Sage in mind, the male decided to strike up a conversation with the next person he came across- be it male or female.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
I see you
And eveɾythɩng ɑɾound you fɑdes
And I ϲɑn't speɑk

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Xiomara found few books that covered his interest, but grabbed them all nonetheless. Eyes that were the shifting colour of teal swept across the room, spotting a woman seated at a table close by. This was the perfect chance to practice! Inside, he was excited at learning a new skill, but on the outside he was expressionless, his face as smooth and blank as a doll's. The skeleton gathered his books in one arm so the other would be free to pull a chair out for himself. Even if it didn't work out with the woman, he would reward himself with a snack and move on.

"Mind if I join you? "

There. That was a good start. Without waiting for a response, he seated himself across from the petite female and set the books down to one side as he pulled his messenger back onto the table and began unpacking his snacks. His bag was filled with them; chips, lollies, bread, cupcakes, popcorn, bottled water, and more. His eyes lit up with anticipation at finally being able to fill his stomach, however he wouldn't allow himself to eat until he'd successfully held a conversation with a stranger. Keeping this fact in mind, he lifted his eyes to the woman before him and smiled, a feat he'd had to learn how to do during his business meetings with Sage. Hopefully his attempt at a smile didn't scare her off. He wasn't aware of how scary his smile could be to those who weren't aware of his usual expressionless exterior.

The huntress kept on rubbing the fingers close to that part since she was attempting to calm down. She was truly frustrated by the fact that she couldn't think of what book to choose to pass the time. It was only when someone called out to her that Cassie c-cked her head, only to see a blue-haired boy who had picked up a few books together with several snacks that he had pulled out from the bag. Based on his smile as well as the young looks, she found him cute, but she was still in a sour mood. With that, Cassie only managed a smile and a nod as she allowed him to be his company for the time being.

Now she was thinking of a way to break the ice, to keep the conversation going as a start. The temptation to steal the food from the other was strong, but she resisted, so instead, she simply tucked a section of her hair close to her ear. Under the soft lights of the library, her baby blue eyes glowed, her aura now quite alluring. Cassie's smile widened slightly as words finally rolled from the tip of her tongue. "Say, what are you currently reading today? I bet it's something that fascinates you so much." If the topic would be about fashion, then she would find that stranger having a similar interest in common.

Xiomara's attempt at some form of social interaction was received with a small smile and a nod from the woman. Good. He hadn't scared her off with his strange smile or killed the conversation by saying something foolish. It wasn't that the skeleton was utterly hopeless in social situations, it was more that he lacked confidence in his ability to socialise with others. He was more the taciturn type, preferring to stay quiet, watch and listen, than to draw attention to himself by speaking. When he did endeavour to speak face to face with strangers, Xo liked to have a script, or an idea of what to say in mind, to avoid any confusion, misunderstandings or awkward silences. Watching Sage at work allowed him to learn a few things, but doing some research on his day off should smooth over any rough edges. Opening a book to its first page to begin his study, Xiomara was distracted by a small movement from the woman. She brushed some of her long, silky hair behind an ear. She had a captivating air about her now, one which completely contradicted her earlier iciness. Taking in her features anew, the bluenette came to the swift conclusion that had the woman been male, he would have undoubtedly been attracted.

"Say, what are you currently reading today? I bet it's something that fascinates you so much."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
I see you
And eveɾythɩng ɑɾound you fɑdes
And I ϲɑn't speɑk

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The woman spoke to him then, and he found himself closing the book in favour of continuing the conversation. The only problem was with formulating a proper response. The former bodyguard was well aware that his current subject of research was an odd one according to social norm, so he felt it best to explain his reasons for pursuing such a subject, however he didn't want to give away too much information about himself, either. After all, she was a stranger. He chewed consideringly on a chip while he thought up a suitable response. When he finally settled on one, he swallowed and spoke.

"The books I have gathered contain information regarding the proper etiquette for varied social events. I have no particular interest or disinterest towards the subject, however I plan to use this information to help me do my job to the best of my abilities.

With that said, he reopened his book and started reading, absently munching on a cookie. He was starving. But then, that wasn't exactly unusual for him. He always felt starved no matter how much he ate. Though he planned to cure that one of these days. He would either have sexual intercourse with another (which was his least preferred method of sating his hunger) or having a go at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Cassandra listened intensively to what the male was saying as the reply to the question, tucking a hand close to her chin. But still, her eyes were on the cookie that the other was consuming and her stomach suddenly growled. She mentally groaned; it was now past lunchtime and she mentally cursed herself for not eating anything before heading out to clear her head. The ice huntress would tackle on that later on for a bit, but for now, she had to keep the conversation going. Maybe if she would help him out a bit with the topic, then he might become generous with the food. It was a risky maneuver, but she had to try.

"My family's much used to social parties and I have a lot of experience in that field. Shall I give you a few pointers for a start?" she questioned, leaning an inch closer towards the blue-haired male. The reference materials gathered from the library may be a bit inadequate for her knowledge on that aspect, since she, together with the male Ice siblings, was a royal family and they were a common sight during such occasions. "I'll give you like three or four pointers to tackle when interacting with others with professionalism and conduct." She hoped that that would be enough for a start, something that she could formulate right at this moment. Besides, even her stomach needed to be tended as well. Wrong timing, definitely wrong timing.

More importantly, the storm had rumbled through sky and she could hear the booming from outside. It looked like Cassie may have to stay inside the library a little longer than anticipated, but she wouldn't mind that right now with the maleneing her only company at the moment.

Huh, well, this was a fine load of garbage. Camille had just gotten back in town only to find her and her brother Max's old house looking ransacked and Max nowhere to be found. After asking around and getting absolutely no clues from the neighbors, she had a bit of a little freak-out before deciding worrying would get her nowhere. For now, she just had to calm down a little. Take her mind off of things. Having a day-long panic attack tends to drain you, so she decided she'd take a walk around the town and see what she could find to do.

Of course, a good book never hurt, so she decided to veer into the library after pacing past it a couple times (looking rather awkward while doing so,
of course). The interior looked... different than she had expected it to, lacking the bright fluorescent lights and tile floors of the school library and instead going for a more cozy look. She couldn't say she wasn't a fan. And just look at all those books! A normal person would probably spend more time picking out something to read than reading it... But not Camille, of course. She made a beeline over to the informational texts, hovering in on the technology-related literature until she found exactly what she was looking for.

"Windows XP for Dummies. An old classic." she whispered nostalgically to herself as she pulled the sizable book off the shelf. It was... Dusty, to say the least, seeing as how this book and the information inside of it had become obsolete years ago, but she still got a kick out of reading about old computer junk. After grabbing the ancient tome and blowing the dust off of it like it was some ancient artifact, Camille scanned around the library to find some sort of sitting area... which she near immediately found and made another beeline over to. Finding a nice cushy chair, she plunked herself down with a sigh and cracked open the book, flipping through the pages and occasionally letting out a near silent chuckle at some of the outdated lingo in it.

Anya's heels made a small 'click' as she walked along the sidewalk. Today marked day two of her living in Soleil, day one having been spent unpacking everything and making sure her new home was decorated just how she wanted it. Sipping at her iced mocha as she walked, the blonde glanced around curiously. Today she was going to spend some time getting to know the new city she was living in. So far, she's mostly been exploring the downtown area. Finally making her way uptown, the woman stopped as she saw a large building with the word 'Library' written on it. Now that she was going to have some... a lot... of free time on her hands, maybe she could get started on that list of books she had. Smiling a bit, she headed towards the building. Noticing the no food and drink sign posted on the door, Anya finished off her drink and tossed it into the garbage bin before stepping inside. Looking around, her eyes widened a little bit as she looked around the inside of the library. It was certainly impressive! Stepping further inside, Anya's teal eyes peered up at the shelves. Now where was the fantasy section?

After a good bit of time had passed, Camille had had her fill of walking down XP memory lane. God knows how many times she'd read this exact same book, but it still brought her the same joy as it had the very first time... Which was surprising for a book that was written like it was talking down to you. Back to the shelf it was, then; time to get another book. Maybe one on Windows 98 this time?

She quickly pushed herself out of the seat with one of her arms, keeping the other one clenched onto the book. As she walked, she made the (stupid) decision to crack open the book again, just for one last little hit of nostalgia. As stated before, this was ill-advised. After about 30 seconds of "distracted walking", she felt herself colliding with someone else, knocking the book out of her hand and pushing her unbalanced a** straight down onto the floor. She let out a small pained hiss as she recovered from the impact, quickly scrambling to pick up her book before looking up at the person she'd collided with.

"Sorry! Sorrysorrysorry!" She apologized profusely to the silver-haired woman as she struggled to get her bearings, pushing herself up onto her feet once again before apologizing once more. "You're not hurt, are you?" She seemed rather panicked at the whole situation, despite her not being heavy or strong enough to even push another person a few feet.

Anya chewed at her bottom lip a little as she looked at all the sections as she passed them. It seemed like all of these books are non-fiction? Maybe the books she wanted were on the second floor? Looking towards the stairway as she walked, she soon found herself colliding onto someone. The collision didn't affect Anya much outside of startling her a little. The vampire blinked in surprise before she looked over at the person that had run into her. "Ah... No need to apologize... I wasn't really watching what I was doing." She said before she chuckled softly and shook her head. "No, no. I'm fine. It takes more than a little bump to hurt me." She said with a smile. Which was true, with this 'new' body of hers, she was sure she could be hit by a car and only walk away with a few bruises, which was kind of a frightening idea.

She let out a sigh of relief, though her face was a bright shade of red due to the sheer embarrassment she felt. She was also staring down at the floor, trying to avoid eye contact to avoid any further awkwardness. "O-okay, good... And no, really, it's my fault... Reading this silly book..." she stammered out as she attempted to back up a little bit, noticing that she'd gotten rather up into this poor woman's face accidentally. It's kinda clear that she's not too good at this socializing thing. Still, she seemed nice enough. Anybody else probably wouldn't be smiling after something like this.

Well, all things considered, it'd be rude to just walk away from her after powerwalking into her and giving a pathetic sounding apology. Guess it's time to try out this small-talk thing... Deep breath... "So, uh..." she began,
her eyes tilting up slightly from their focus on the ground to at least attempt eye contact. "What kind of books are you here for..?" That was about the best she was gonna come up with. Hopefully she didn't come across as some sort of weirdo who runs into people just to get literary recommendations.
