Larkanna was too busy dodging several of the other attacks that Elkand failed to help prevent to listen to the answer to the question asked. When the door opened and Elkand returned, she noticed that the creature had coward in slight fear as the darkness consumed Elkand for a moment, making him more powerful than she'd ever seen anyone become. Her own mark burned, sending a wave of slight dizziness and pain flaring in the back of her mind, but she simply shook her head to clear it.

Following him up the steps, she entered the room and saw brooms everywhere. She'd learned how to fly on a broom, mostly because that was a popular way for less powerful witches to get around, but wizards never took up the art of flying on broomsticks. It was obvious that many had attempted to use the enchanted devils, but puddles of blood and broken sticks lay everywhere.

Walking to the nearest broom, she climbed on and noted that there were keys stashed in indents in the walls, most were guarded by malicious gargoyles. "They're nasty little snots to mess with, especially when they've been woken up as often as they probably have." Turning to look at him she asked, "Have you ever flown before? Levitation spells are hindered due to those charms up on the ceiling."

Elkand looked at all the broomsticks and his eyes went wide. Wizards never rode broomsticks and try as they might they could hardly ever get the hang of it. He looked at her " I've never ridden a broomstick successful only my stone eagle..and I don't think summons are allowed." he said and went over to one anyway and took a deep breath " I suppose I could try but there's a high chance that I'll end up with a broken arm or leg somehow." he said " And we have to retrieve the keys and deal with gargoyles?" he said " This seems like yuor Territory." he said " If you want I can ride with you or try and cover you form the ground." he said..

Larkanna nodded, not surprised at all by his reaction, "I'd much rather have you riding behind me than being a sitting duck for their magic." Gargoyles had strange, ancient magics that no one in their right mind had been able to muster and control without turning into one of the stoned beings themselves. That was how they were created, wizards and witches going beyond their physical limits and turning themselves into creatures made entirely of limestone.

Elkand nodded and walked over " Errr....O-Okay." he said and climbed on slowly. He had normally only seen broomsticks small enough for only one person and was forced to ride by himself but maybe he could help grab keys and fend off gargoyles best he could while they flew. He was visibly shaking frightened of what could happen on these accursed sticks witches used for transportation however he wasn't hiding from it since he was with Larkanna who knew what she was doing. He prepared his staff just in case as he waited for things to get moving.

Larkanna couldn't contain a short chuckle as he climbed on hesitantly, "Just hold on and don't scold my driving." She used their connection to send the calm that she felt to him. Brooms were smarter than your average inanimate object. They had a mind of their own and tended to use any fear to their own advantage, always resulting in an accident. Crouching slightly, she pushed off the ground, as if she were jumping lightly, and they were rising into the air at speeds that could defy the eyes. Either she would move slowly or swiftly, nothing in between, they were already losing time. "Take care of as many as you possibly can while I swoop in and snatch the keys."

Elkand laughed nervelessly though a little calmer " Aye aye captain." he said and held his staff creating a small dome that would protect them as best it could. He had one spell that would harm gargoyles but it wouldn't kill them as it wasn't powerful enough. He kept the link between them as they flew watching some gargoyles eyes light up.

Diving for the first gargoyle guarded inlet, Larkanna reached out, her body nearly parallel with the broomstick, speeding it up. She imagined a hawk diving for the kill, but if Elkand failed, which she knew he woulding, to protect them from the creature's own magics and incantations. The first gargoyle didn't even need to be distracted or attacked in order for her to snatch up a key, putting it in her pocket swiftly, she went towards teh second one, who was obviously ready for them.

Elkand looked at the Gargoyle and spun his staff around. This was one of the few spells where he needed to say the words for it to work " Earthly Purge!" he yelled and a small green bolt flew form his staff and hit the gargoyle however it twisted into a spiral and hit the gargoyle in the chest spreading over its body before it exploded. Elkand was shocked he certainly didn't mean to do that but if it got them out of here alive he couldn't complain but his spell was not to kill earthly creature yet somehow it did.

Larkanna watched in slight horror as the creature simply blew up. Glancing back at Elkand, she wondered why he'd gone that far when all it would have taken was a stun spell. She didn't want the onther competitors to catch up too quickly. Instead of asking him about it, she simply swooped down and grabbed the key, also placing this one in her pocket. Going to the third and forth, both of which were rather close to one another, they sent a collaberated attack of a rock slide. She weaved in between the falling rocks, but the dust made her eyes sting and her sight fade out a little.

Elkand had no clue what to say either so he pushed it into the back of his mind as they went along. He noticed the rock slide and could tell her vision was getting cloudy as his start to. He tried the spell again however this time it shot out a continuous stream of little streams at the rock to destroy them as they flew. When they got clsoe enough he grabbed the keys and tried not to fall off. He looked around and created a giant wall of water and sent it at the gargoyles. It wouldn't stun them but it it might slow them down a little. He sighed " How man more keys to go?" he asked and looked at Larkanna. He couldn't help her clear her eyes of dust so she would have to do it.

Larkanna sharply turned upwards as she murmured a spell that would clear her eyes, "That's it." She was heading to the inlet that would lead them to the locked door. As the entered it, she stopped the broom and climbed off while taking all the keys that she had retrieved from her pocket. Trying hers, none worked, so she grumbled something about not being able to get through because she knew that a trick like this would be the kind of thing Lillet pulled. "Let's hope that one of yours work...."

Elkand nodded and tried the keys he collected but neither of them worked " What kind of trick is she trying to pull!" he said and looked down frustrated even more than usual. He sighed " How are we supposed to get out of here!" he yelled and stuck his hand out at the door sending small bolts of electricity into the keys causing them to glow. He looked back and tilted his head as he saw the keys start to move seemingly in a pattern as he herd loud dings at each then they went still. He waited a few minutes before he tried to open the door but he still couldn't. He then tried twitting the keys in the same pattern and heard a loud unlocking sound as one of the keys turned but he still could not open the door. They keys began to glow again and this time faster and in a more complex pattern. He stared " Er...are you familiar with this type of thing Larkanna?" he asked trying to follow the pattern but forgot the last one as the pattern repeated but when he tried to do it it shocked him.

Larkanna listened to the dings. It was a pattern of sound. "Shh..." She whispered as the keys dinged a second time, this time her's joining in. Her many years of musical practices was now coming in handy. "The tune... I recognize it. Each key is a note and if you unlock them in the correct pattern, the door will open." Slowly, she took each key and began to put them in order, then she began to unlock the door. There was a loud click as the door opened. All the keys vanished, returning to their posts as angry gargoyles fell back into a light slumber, waiting for their next set of prey to come in.

Elkand nodded when she unlocked the door and ventured up to the steps " That seems easy for you." he said as they walked up the ruined flight of steps. At the top was a very ominous looking door. Elkand looked at her and shrugged as if telling her to be on guard. He opened the door and now they were in a large area filled with ruins now. It was dark and the only source of light was the moon and the stars. He looked around " This is odd...what lives here?" he asked and started to venture deep inside the ruins he heard the sound of rapid clicking and looked around before he saw a pair of eight glowing eyes before they faded. He looked at Larkanna and took her hand " Stay close." he said and started to walk.

"Be glad my mentors forced music down my throat." Larkanna gazed around at the 'sky'. Even with the lighting of the stars and full moon, she could barely see without having to strain her nearly perfect sight. Glad that he'd taken her hand, she watched as the eight glowing eyes reappeared and vanished without pattern or warning. This is going to give me nightmares for the rest of my days... She thought with a tiny smirk as she attempted to predict where the eyes would appear next. Standing on the balls of her feet, she whispered in his ear, "Do you have any idea what it might be...?" Please don't let it be a huge spider... She prayed. She'd hated spiders ever since she could remember, especially after she'd been bitten by a black widow as a child, sending her mother into a panic and weak magical fury in hopes of removing the venom from her daughter's body.
