(Yes, but that doesn't answer my question on how Link knows Castle Town was attacked...
It is true that Kuri has Zelda's spirit within her, but this doesn't mean she's Zelda herself. She can't see or hear what Zelda does... besides, Zelda's asleep. She has no idea what is happening...)

((Jos, Link doesn't know what has happened in castle town. He is saying that shouldn't Zelda be concerned that there is a stench of rotten flesh coming from castle town. Read it again.. it will make sense if you look at it in my perspective... ))

(-sighs- why am I an idiot...)
Kuri flew over and landed on Link's shoulder. "Then you make the choice, would you like to check it out? Or do you want to stop Zant?" Kuri asked, looking up at him. The crescent would help them more than against keeping them human in the twilight. It would be a greater source of power against Zant.

It was true that Assis had done something that no other man had dared to do. They were cowards, the lot of them. This woman, however….. she had stood her ground, faced the intruders without even a hint of fear. She was the only living thing within these walls who showed bravery, where everyone else displayed nothing but fear and cowardice. The two imposters were the worst of all, one using the other for his dirty work, and that loyal dog, Duo, whose mere presence made Assis’ blood burn with rage. Duo was worse than just a dog following orders. He enjoyed what he did. He gained pleasure from the pain of others who were weaker than himself.
Still, this woman….. Assis would have to learn her name. Perhaps she was a descendant of the Gerudo? Hylians seemed to know nothing of honor or bravery, only bureaucracy and the written word. She had shown truth and valor where all others had willingly fallen to their knees in fear. Funny, the women from where Assis had come were much like this. They would not tolerate such behavior from a man. Then again, there were no men to be found where he was from, either.
Assis carried Din all the way out of the town, into the southern Lanayru region west of Castle Town. He set her down on a soft patch of grass not far from the bridge. Luckily, there were no undead to be found out here. Still, if someone were to come along, he did not want her to be endangered by his carelessness. Very gently, he placed two fingers under her head, raising it to where he could sift through her hair to find the spot where she’d been struck. It didn’t take long to spot the red mark on her scalp. However, it would take a long time for his rage to subside. To see a woman of such strength treated like such a dog, he was unable to surpass the anger it caused him.
He very gently set her head back down on the grass. He realized he wasn’t wearing a shirt, and felt it would be indecent to sit and watch her sleep. So, he picked her back up, carefully resting her over his shoulder as he proceeded to walk south towards a dead end. There, he would find shelter to hide behind until she awoke.
On a dry slab of rock, Assis laid Din on her back, wishing he had kept the tarp so that he would have something to cover her with. But, there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t very well use his own bare body as an adequate source of heat to cover her. He would have to run back into the town to grab another tarp to cover her with. With Din’s best interest in mind, Assis began to walk away, heading back toward the west gate into town.
Before he left her there, he turned back one last time to look at her. He admired her for more than her bravery. In all honesty, Assis did find her to be pleasing to look at. Even just her face held a natural beauty which he was drawn to. Still, he shook off these thoughts, scolding himself for thinking such thoughts at a time of need such as this. *Just one more moment....* he thought. *....to see such a beautiful thing.*

Diness had fallen back asleep while Assis carried her. Only waking to the sharp shivering of the night. She sat up straight, looking outside. Almost frightened, she glanced around seeing the boy had gone. Had he left her in this cave, all alone? But seeing it was getting dark out, the sun setting slowly towards the west. Diness knew better than moving out of the cave. She stood up, but stumbled backwards. "Whoa!" She murmured, feeling the piercing pain in her head, she leaned against the rocky wall. "Damn that Duo! When I find him..." She murmured, flames suddenly bursting behind her when she punched the wall. She walked over to the flames like it was normal. Looking around outside for some wood so she could feed the flames.
Returning she sat back down near the fire, placing dry dead twigs onto the flames. Thinking of her home back at Castle Town. Sure, her dream has and always been to escape those walls and go out on an adventure. She couldn't though, no money, no horses. And the strange dangers of the land were no place for a dancer. So Din stayed inside the walls. She looked outside again, seeing the red and orange glow of the sun set. Sighing softly, a name. That's all she wanted. Thinking of the man who had saved her. "And I thought I was the only one to speak up... he actually did what a guard wouldn't even dare to do..." She murmured to herself.
Thinking of her father, and yet knowing only her mother through pictures and stories her father would tell her. The man, he reminded her of something Din saw in herself. Of course, a lot of the guards called her Gerudo. A race of so called female race of 'thieves' that were banished to the rash desert. Her father had explained that the race of women would crown a king whenever a male was born into the race. She always though of her mother being among being strong. She always wanted to be like her, but had the softness of her father. She felt the need to help others. Even if they were the opposite race of her.
She looked back outside for the third time, wondering if she should stay the night and leave in the morning. Or wait for the boy to return, if he was even going to return. "I would like to learn his name..." Din murmured, laying down on the stone ground of the cave. Moving her hand through the flames of the crackling fire. Even while the flames licked her hand, there were no burns, or even scorch marks. Din just smiled, enjoying the warmth. She laid her head on her arms and was lulled to sleep by the crackling fire, which burned even without the twigs to keep it burning.

Link was torn as to what to do. On one hand he yearned to make it to Twilight to see his old friend, Midna, and also to assist in the rescue of Cielene and Zelda. But was it not his duty to protect Hyrule? Why else had he gone through so much to save it from the evils of Ganondorf? Plus he did not see any point in rescuing Zelda and letting her kingdom fall into evil hands. " I think it would be best to go take a look at Castle Town, for Zelda's sake. Who knows maybe Zant is behind that as well, we could kill two birds with one stone." He forced a smile while saying the last part, trying to lighten the mood, then he waited to see if Jesse agreed.
"Someone else? Come to think of it I did feel a disturbance coming from my castle.. I thought it was Cielene ordering some food..shouldn't have been dark energy.." Zant trailed off, his heart was beginning to race. What if something had happened to Cielene? Quickly he warped back to her room, and frantically glanced about. The room appeared to be empty..No this cannot be!.."CIELENE", he called out repeatedly while tearing through the room ripping the blankets off the bed, and knocking over the table, "Cielene, get your a** out here!". He ran out to the balcony and glanced down, again nothing. "Oh where could she be!", he cried out as he fell to his knees. He thrust his hand into his pocket frantically searching for the crystal. Finally he yanked it out and held it up to his face, "Tell me where she is!"

Jesse nodded. "Hopefully... If we find Zant, then we find Cielene... and Zelda." he quickly added. He sighed. It was his fault she was missing... How could he have been so careless? He sighed. "Come on... let's get going!"
Duo raised an eyebrow at Zant. He looked at the people in front of him and sighed. "Hey.. don't go anywhere..." He ordered. He then melted with the shadows and reappeared next to Zant who was holding the crysta. "What the-" He looked around, but saw the place torn apart. "Where's Cielene?!" However, suddenly there was a humming nose coming from the crystal in front of Zant. There was somethig wrong with it. The crystal was turning black. What was that supposed to mean? He watched curiously. However suddeny, the crystal glinted weakly. There appeared a beam of white light that seemed to be fading. It was barely visible, but it was projecting a picture on the wall. At first, he thought it was a white circle. But when he looked closer, he saw the shadows and realized what it was. "Is that moon?" He whispered.
Cielene felt the tears start to trail down her face. She mind was getting foggy. All she could think of was Kurogane and the dark energy that was pulsing through her veins. She had to break away from him. Her thoughts were disturbed when he took her chin and brought her less than an inch away from her face.
Kurogane grinned as he fet her resistance weakening. "Cielene... do you remember what I swore to do that night before I banished by your brother? I think you do." He let one of his hands travel up her back and stop at the seam of the dress. How he wanted to take her right there... make her his.. But he had to resist the urge. Business had to come first... then pleasure. He needed the moon crystal.
Cielene felt fear in her heart. Those words had haunted her for years in her sleep. None the less, they echoed in her mind right now. "There may be a way out of this war, Cielene... But there is no escape from me. I will be the first man to kiss you, and to bed you. Whether you come willingly or not, you will become mine, and mine alone. Do you understand?" Her legs shook as she felt his hand travel up her back.
Kurogane watched her cringe under his touch. "I shall be a man of my word. Give me the Moon Crystal... And perhaps I will be decent enough to save our bargain for the evening of our marrige..." He hand moved to her neck. It was slender. She was easily breakable... with out much efort, he could probably strangle her. But that would be no fun... he need her.. in more ways than one.
Cielene finally had the courage to speak up. "Too... bad it is too late... I can't be yours.. My lips have already had their first kiss... actually... more than one... However.. I shal never gove you Moon Crystal... it is not possible..."
Kurogane glared as he felt his anger rise. He would surely kill the man who stole such glory from him. "Don't fret, my love. I can steal a lot more from you! There is still the other half of my bargain to keep!" He then forced his lips onto hers as his free hand began ripping at the laces of her dress.

By the time Assis had returned, Din had already gone back to sleep, and the Sun was being swallowed by the horizon. It wouldn’t be but a matter of minutes before the Father was laid to rest for the night.
Assis walked over to Din, seeing she had built a small fire. He frowned at this. The girl was resourceful, and that was a goods thing. But still, a fire could just as easily act as a beacon for any attacker to come along in the night. Still…. her complexion, her hair, her resemblance to the women he’d known all his life was simply astonishing. Shamefully, he found himself attracted to her. For him to find such strength outside the harsh sands of the desert was like finding silver in a coal mine.
With feet as light as feathers, he stepped around the fire behind Din, unraveling the new tarp from his shoulders and spreading it out over her body. Though odd was her outfit, he could not deny her physique, her natural beauty. She must have been some sort of muse to the lechers creeping through the bars of Hyrule Castle Town.
He pulled the tarp up over her shoulders before taking a seat on the opposite side of the fire. He sat at the mouth of the cave under a shadow. Only his dark silhouette was visible from the field. The fire crackled softly behind him, almost putting him into a trance himself. Nonetheless, Assis forced himself to stay awake. He would not have gone through all this trouble just to have her snatched from under his nose by that dog, Duo.
Whether out of sheer boredom, or simply to occupy himself to stay awake, Assis pulled a dagger from the back of his belt and began to scrape it against a red stone. The stone had come out of a pouch hanging from the left side of his belt. It was a chunk of red sand, the same kind which was used to construct the red scimitar resting at his side.
When he thought about it, he almost regretted that he’d fed such anger into the body of his sword. It was something he’d been shunned against by his teacher, yet there were some things which even El Assis could not help but hate. Some of those things were the choices people made. Not that people were a thing to hate, but many of them were fearful, and acted in ways which no true spirit should. Some things were simply unforgiveable in his eyes.
Assis’ reasons for fetching a tarp for this woman were obvious, even if it meant he would have to go without a shirt. Then again, amongst the whirlwind of thoughts brewing within his mind, it’d finally occurred to him that he could’ve grabbed two tarps, one for her and one for himself. But, that was not necessary. He enjoyed the cool air. In fact, he was used to the desert. The sand held no mercy for those who did not make for their own warmth and shelter. This was one of the first things he’d had to learn as a child. The desert was more unforgiving than the fears of men. For the same reason, it is the safest place to live.... for someone who does not want to be found.

Diness was dreaming about her father, feeling the warm tarp around her shoulders. Believing it was her father tucking her in when she was little. "Thank you..." Her voice was muffled under the folds, but you could clearly hear what she said.
She moved over, feeling something p***k her, jolting her awake. She remembered the pain in her head and sat up. Seeing a figure at the mouth of the cave. Din sat up feeling the tarp slip off her shoulders. Blinking, she glanced down on it. He... got this for me? looking up at the man who had not only saved her, but took his time to even take care of her. "... I'm sorry, but can I ask the name of my rescuer?" She asked, sitting fully up.

Assis jerked around, pulled out of his trance by Din's voice. He was hanging onto her words, when she'd thanked him for covering her. At least, he'd thought she was thanking him. Perhaps she was talking in her sleep? Either way, she was awake now. More than that, she was asking for his name. How could he have been so rude? Then again, he hadn’t exactly had the chance to properly introduce himself as of yet.
Assis returned the dagger to his belt, and the stone to its pouch. He stood, calmly walking in a circle around the fire before stopping two feet from where she sat looking up at him. He quickly knelt, bowing his head and placing his right hand over his chest in a fist. It was wrapped in cloth, so the emblem tattooed into the back of his hand could not be seen. Not to mention, the second shape which was scarred into his flesh beneath the first.
”Forgive my manners. I am called El Assis, Gerudo.”
He did not bother to tell her what his name meant, and for good reason. If she did not know the meaning, then it was better left unsaid. El was a common word for “The,” or “One.” If someone was given the title “El” at the beginning of their known identity, it meant that the title following this word was theirs to hold. For instance, the term for healer, which is “Gollel, would give that person recognition for their medical expertise.
However, the name “Assis” is not so noble a title, depending on who you’re asking. “Assis” is the Gerudo word for “assassin.” More accurate would be the common term, “mercenary”: he who kills to earn his way. The name itself would strike fear into the hearts of those who knew its meaning. Still, if he wanted to, Assis could renounce his name and take on a more noble profession. Unfortunately for him, this would not be such an easy task as it is spoken.
El Assis, Gerudo - The One Mercenary of the Sand. The man who carries the blood of his victims through the very name he is known by.
”May I ask your name as well?”

Diness tilted her head to the side when he said his name. El Assis, what a strange name, but, then again she did grown up in a town full of Hylian's were a name like his would be considered a strange name. Where Telma and Zelda were regular names for the people of Hyrule. She didn't care though, the name certainly intrigued her, it probably meant something. Diness couldn't afford school after her father left for war to try and support her. They returned, but... her father didn't.
"Sorry to say, but I like your name." Din suddenly smiled at him. "I'm Diness, or Din if that's too long..." She said standing and moving to sit next to him, but not to close so she wouldn't make him uncomfortable. "Is it alright if I say? You were very brave back there... and... thank you... for rescuing me..." Din said, not really looking at him. Was she blushing that he had saved her from Duo? She felt embarrassed, but not because saved her. It was because she let Duo that. She could have easily burned him to a crisp. She was held back. Was it Assis? She glanced over at him.

Assis stood, knowing full-well in the back of his mind that his name was anything but nice. She must've been talking about the sound. Still, it unnerved him to hear someone take pleasure in such a fearsome title. It made him turn away from her as well, uncertain as to how he should take her blatant honesty. The transition from Duo to.... this, it was shocking. More than that, it was almost embarassing to hear this coming from her. He had admitted to himself that he was attracted to her, but he would never have expected her to immediately return his interest. Perhaps he was imagining things.
Although, he had to admit as well that her name was pleasing to the ear. Even if her accent varried from his own, it was nice to hear something different once in a while. Diness was not too long, but the sound reminded him of the Gerudo word for snake. For that, he decided just to call her "Din."
Now that Din had gotten that out of her system, Assis was officially embarassed. She was showering him with compliments; a thing he was not used to. His reasons for saving her were not of valor, but comfort. She was the only one who'd shown an ounce of spine, besides himself. She was, in his mind, the only soul worthy of his efforts. He would just as quickly leave the rest of them to their fate.
Assis looked back to Din, meeting her gaze at eye level. After a long, speachless moment, he took a seat on the stone floor where he'd been standing. He did not want to seem lecherous or rude, but he could not help the feeling that any moment he could do something clumsy and stupid. She would laugh at him, and he would leave with his tail between his legs. Still, he kept his eyes lock onto hers.
"There is no need to thank me. It's just.... when I saw him hit you.... I lost my temper."
Once again, he turned away, this time looking into the fire. His face went red with embarassment. He was ashamed at himself, a mercenary who would lose his head over a woman. He would be the laughing stock of all the land if word got out. Then again, no one knew his face, let alone his name. This is why he carried the title so well. He was the best at what he did.
"I am sorry for acting so foolishly. It was not my intention to get involved with such nonsense."
In fact, that could not be closer to the truth. His father, Ganondorf, was rumored to have been killed by the hand of some other dark tyrant. Assis had come to Hyrule for one reason; to visit his father's grave. That is, if the people of Hyrule had even bothered to burn his body, let alone dig a hole in the ground to throw it in.

"How the devil did she get there?!" Zant's hands shook with anger while he stared in disbelief at the crystal. He jumped up, swiftly turning round to face Duo, " This dark energy you felt, do you have any idea from who it could have come from?"
Link turned Epona around and urged her towards Castle Town. He held his breathe until it felt as if his lungs were going to pop out of his chest before he chanced another breathful of the rancid air. As they came upon the bridge leading to the castle Link slowed Epona and hopped off. From where he stood he could see what looked like a cluster of bodies. He ran forward to get a closer view and quickly recognized them as the remains of the already dead. He gave a sigh of relief, " So this is the source of the toxic smell..", he gasped for air for the stench had multiplied in its potency. Moving back to where Epona stood waiting he addressed Jesse," That seems to be what is causing the air to be so pungent. Should we bury these remains and be on our way?"

Duo shook his head. "I have felt a power similar to his... Though I do not remember his name. It was when I first started out as an asassin that met him... And now that I think of it..." he trailed off, remembering his former duties. "Bring me the girl... Be sure to get rid of the prince... ans kill the parents. I assure you.. if you sucede, you will be the riches man to live..." However, he had only been able to slaughter the parents. He was still new at the art of killing and had been discovered by the guards. That was when he travelled to a different dimension. ".. well, I may know where this is."
Jesse looked at the masses "Actually, I have a quicker way of disposing of them... But it amazes me... They wear armor... as if from some kind of army. Does it not seem odd though?" Jesse then cautioned for Link to stay back. he then closed his eyes. Then with in an instant, there was a ruby colored haze around his hands. Then the bodies exploded in fire as it burned up their bodies. It got rid of the smell almost instaly. With in a couple of minutes, the fire died away to leave spot clear of everything. But the most curious thing was that the ground where the bodies laid was not even scorched. Ironically, it had fresh grass growing there. ".. Oh by the way... I have magic... but not nearly as powerful as the Moon crystal's, but i is still quite strong. I would have told you earlier, but sometimes it is best that no one knows all your abilities."

((it took me 3 days to read all of the post... burning_eyes ))
The little kid was chasing his puppet that ran to Hyrule Field. He chased him until he saw an old face. He dashed towards his best friend jumping and hugging his head. He didn't even bother to say it was his best buddy the Skull Kid. "Link! I've missed you just as much as the puppets! Where have you been?!" he cheerfully asked now looking at the strange man. "And who is this?" He asked staring at his eyes. He held on his horn that never stood in the same place. He bounced up and down so happy to see his friend in green.
