Brassa laughed with him. “I’d say let’s put it to the test, but I’ve had quite enough fighting for a while.” Kanti playfully swiped at her sister’s nose. “No fighting with him,” she scolded lightly. “Besides, we aren’t staying.”

Sanoskue chuckled, "I know the feeling." He then looked at Kanti and smiled shyly, "Yeah..."

“What?” Kanti’s mother cried. “What do you mean you’re not staying?” Kanti shook her head. “Mom, we’re gonna go off and find our own territory, and…and we’re going to start a pack of our own,” she said, smiling softly as she licked Sanoskue’s muzzle fondly.

Kanti’s father looked up at them and growled softly, then shook his head. “Do what you will. Just don’t hurt her. What’s left of our family will hunt you down.” “Dad,” Kanti whined. “Don’t be like that. We’ll be okay. I just had to come home and let you know I’m all right. I’m sorry. I love you all, but Sanoskue…well…” she trailed off with a smile.

Sanoskue smiled and nuzzled her gently, "I love her, and I could never hurt a hair on her body." he said seriously.

“See?” Kanti whispered happily. “I love him, and he loves me too. We’ll be okay. I love you all too. We’ll visit.” Her family sighed and then her father dipped his massive head. “Best of luck to both of you then.”

Her father grumbled slightly, but he licked his daughter’s nose fondly, as did her mother and sister. “We’ll visit,” Kanti promised again. Her sister chuckled. “We know already,” Brassa laughed. “Now go, lead happy lives.” Kanti smiled at her family a little sadly, but she was still happily. “Goodbye everyone. Let’s go Sanoskue.”

Kanti followed him happily through the forest. “Well, my dad didn’t rip your throat out, so he must like you,” she teased brightly. “Where are we going Sanoskue?”
