There is a bit more shuffling, with their voices coming closer and closer, then an enormous crash... a horrible moment of silence, then ear piercing wails, followed by the sound of running feet from the kitchen.
"What the heck... Mari... where's Ari... dear Lord, she's under that?"

*Hearing this, Kero is jolted out of his half Doze, cutting his way out of the cocoon...and falling onto...*

a pile of boxes and baskets, plus an odd and end chair... Bez snatches him quickly off the pile and begins tossing things right and left, until he finds a box inverted on the floor lifting he find the crying cub, curled up in a terrified ball. She sees him and launches herself into his arms.
"D.d.d.d.addy...." she stammers with a muffled sob.

Bez looks down at the dark furred cub who is cowering at his feet and shakes his head. "Let me make sure she's unhurt and then maybe you can take them both out. Suddenly he looks up and sees he thrown half of the stuff on top of the sleeping lioness on her pallet. He turns white as a sheet and hands Ari to Kero. Two hesitant steps and he's running to check on his mate, terrified himself that he's done some form of harm.

"The girls are fine, Bez... just shaken up. I'm going to take them up to Em. Let him feed them this morning. Then I'll come back and help you clean up."
Bez's absent nod indicates he only half hears what Kero is saying, but the mage decides he probably heard the important stuff... such as taking the girls to Em.

Ari creeps forward. She knows she's in trouble. But Mara proudly steps to his side.
"Wad ye wan, Uncwel Kewo?" she asks, cocking her head to one side.
