*Kero chuckles*
For you, it's not. For me, though....well....it's best just to show you...
*Suddenly, Passura feels the full weight of Kero's mind...searching...every nook and cranny of his mind...the assault lasts only a millisecond...but it's enough that he gets the point*
Now do you see why I don't invade other's minds? I'm such a powerful empath that, when bolstered by my magic, I can do serious damage. I prefer to discipline in the real world...time-outs, groundings, loss of privileges, extra chores, spankings, etc. Does that make sense? I don't expect you to adhere to my code of personal honor...what you feel is honorable and is not is your choice...I don't touch others minds because I could hurt them...you probably have more control than I do, and so can touch without fear...does that make sense?

Passura thinks about this for a time then asks an odd question. "Can you give me ears?"

*Kero thinks about it*
I...could...but...why would you want them?

"Among my people, it is polite to always let people know where you are, but It would be rude for me to expect everyone here to do so... and I know the dark haired winged one is frightened of me. To ask him to let me know where he is where ever he's around would be even worse than rude. But I know they also do not wish for me to keep constant contact with them. How will I know who is where and when if I cannot sense them?"
Passura's explanation shows he's been thinking about this for some time.

*Kero nods...then thinks*
What about this...I don't give you ears, persay....but my Master, who is a snake, can hear...he uses a spell to translate vibrations in the air to his jawbone, and from there to his inner ears...how about I place such a spell on you?

"Spell?" echoes the boy in confusion. He doesn't seem to understand the concept of magic in the least.

*Kero nods*
Remember how I told you that I use power from all around me, not from within...well, a spell is a weave built out of this power that accomplishes some effect, like starting a fire, or growing plants...there is a particular weave that will allow you to translate vibrations in the air...sounds....into your jawbone...and from there to your inner ear...in short, you'd be able to hear, but without any ears...does that sound good to you?

The boy nods, but Kero can tell he is still a bit confused.

*Kero smiles*
Watch....
*Pulls a thread of aethr out of the Void, handling it with utmost care....he wraps it around Passura, the begins to weave, his fingers flickering back and forth....Passura feels a bit of pain and a tickling sensation as the aethr sinks in...then...nothing...until Kero opens his mouth*
That's how I do things, Passura...not with my mind...but with my magic...which I will trach you about when it is time for you to start lessons. Now, let's discuss a bedtime for you...

The boy blinks rapidly as he experienced sound into speech inside his head for the very first time. "I... I can hear..." he whispers softly to himself just to see if his own speech would be picked up as well.

The boy listens, entranced by the sound, sound he can feel on his skin as well as with his ears. A faint musical trill drifts into the cave, a sort of "I heard that" reply and then silence falls as Kerobian finishes. Not exactly true silence. Through his connection with the boy, Kero experiences for the first time the sound of dripping water in the back of the cave, the sound of wind high in the trees outside, a bird call drifting on the night air... sounds he had come to take for granted but which were new and exciting... and terribly confusing, as the child had never heard these before and had no idea what they were. So he sits at the mouth of the cave with the lad long past sundown listening and explaining, helping him to identify and filter out the things he heard.

*Kero simply stays out there, then looks at Passura*
Come now, child....we need to figure out a bedtime for you...can't have you up all night, you know...

"But I'm not sleeping..." protests the boy, hiding a yawn. He struggles to keep his eyes open for just a few more minutes, certain he'll hear something new, when he hears for the first time the sound of a baby cry. He stares at Kerobian wide eyed. "Is... is it hurt?"
In the darkness they see a shadow slip from the cave next door and see Bez walking carefully, carrying one of his daughters on his shoulder, whispering to her gently to not wake her mama just yet.

*Kero listens to the cry, then shakes his head*
Nah...just a dirty diaper...Bez can take care of it...And I didn't say you were sleepy, I said we needed to set a bedtime...say...an hour after sundown?
