The kitten couldn't sleep that night. The thought of the infirmary kept occupying his mind and there was no help in thinking other thoughts.
He got up and thought for a bit.
If I go now, I won't have to worry about it tomorrow... The kitten said to himself rubbing his chin. He had no knowledge that most doctors don't stay up all night unlike the doctors where he came from.
He quietly slipped out of his bed, took a piece of paper and quill pen and wrote the following...
I'ma guna go to tha docter so I dun wury enymor. - Madox
He laid the note on his pillow and snuck his way out of the dorm making sure not to wake anyone up.
~~~
The kitten found the infirmary within minutes, remembering the path he and Jamie took to get there. The silence of the village created a dreadful scene for the kitten almost standing his fur on end. But luckily he had found the place and he could finally get something else dreadful overwith.
He approached the door and was ready to knock...but...
His paw stopped just as it was about to rap the door...he heard sounds inside...
Turan gave a half-smile, hugging Faith back gently. He seemed mildly startled by the sudden flicker of light in the back of the infirmary. Realizing Jasmine was awake, he stood quickly, turning to Faith, who had already gone to pretending she was asleep. He smiled a little, wondering to himself how often the little fox pulled this routine on Jasmine.
He watched Kusaa dart into a hiding place, with Gem left out in the open. "Psst," he said softly, trying to get the bat Dibbun's attention. He pointed to Faith's cot, where Kusaa had hidden, indicating Gem should follow suit.
Admittedly the young warrior got a small amused thrill at being an accomplice in a mischievous situation. Silly hare. He looked around to see that the troublemakers were accounted for, before shifting his attention to Tannia, lifting a brow at her in an amused fashion.
Tannia, having heard Jasmine's voice, quickly stood from her position on the ground. But then, feeling awkward and suspicious, she sat again, but now, instead, on the empty cot she had formerly been sitting beside. Catching Turan's look, she rolled her eyes a bit at his smirk, but had to smile a little herself.
My my, what an interesting escapade this little midnight trip to the infirmary was turning out to be.
Apparently the two hares had decided not to run for it. After all, it was never their intention to keep this secret from Jasmine. As Turan had stated earlier, they weren't really doing anything wrong. Of course, now they WOULD be lying about something... but that was different.
He quickly and quietly strode back to the bunny's crib, reaching down and picking her up. He would allow Jasmine to find them that way if she were going to come out and take a look...
((Back from weekend, lol... Jen style reply XD))
::Blinking, Gem had followed Turan's direction, and then hiding her own giggling, flew up close to him, stealing herself a quick kiss on the cheek for him, before darting under the bed, aided by Kusaa's paw yanking her and the dummy underward...::
::All was quiet from them, and that was when the light came closer, until it lit the room gently in a warmly little glow, as Jasmine, in full pink nightdress and headfur worn all down, came out into the open, her eyes tired and lulled, but blinking in surprise against her own light as she raised the candle to see better...::
Turan? Tannia? ::She sharply whispered, looking at the pair, not quite having the mental capacity to see if anyone OUTSIDE her line of sight was there, missing Sasha in this little vendetta now::
Do I have to remind you what hour this is? ::She asked with some due note of irritation, but always keeping it low, for, she thought, the benefit of her daughter::
Turan was there, standing with the bunny in his arms. He looked up now as if he hadn't even noticed that Jasmine had walked in. He adopted the most apologetic expression as he turned his gaze to her. "Oh, hello Jasmine. We're quite aware of the time. I apologize profusely for having woken you... I wasn't aware we were being so loud." Was it a little suspicious that they had apparently been loud enough to wake Jasmine up, but not the nearby slumbering abbess?
Tannia was about to add something, but changed her mind. She'd let Turan play this one out. He'd had more practice.
"I realize this is a very inconvenient time... but I just learned of our newcomers, and I was eager to see this one here. Perhaps it could've waited until morning... but I really wanted to see her." This part was all true, so there was no acting involved in this part. As long as Jasmine didn't ask too many questions, he could get out of this situation without even lying. Unless you wanted to pull the "lying by omission" card on him.
"We should probably go now..." he said gently, trying to study Jasmine's expression in the dim light.
((Looking back, that post is slightly less Jen than I thought it'd be, lol...))
::Jasmine's expression for Turan was little more than annoyed, and tired... whatever was happening around here, whatever they were up to, or no matter how overblown it may have seemed to any outsider's eyes, to Jasmine's eyes, her lids were trying to shut over her field of vision, and sleep was a far more important cause than reason as she sighed...::
Fine... fine... no harm done...
Just see her in the cot and put her back in the morning... ::She yawned as her words began to get criss-crossed, before looking at Faith's bed... had she noticed something?::
::She was walking over!!! She must have knew something!!!!::
Better check under the cot... ::She said, hampering another yawn:: I know Faith will want to know if there are any monsters under there...
Turan smirked a bit, shaking his head at Jasmine's muddled speech. "Sure, I'll bring her right back in the morning," he said lightly to see if Jasmine would get the joke. Though honestly, he wasn't fond of the idea now, of leaving the bunny in the cot and leaving. He was already smitten with the thing! This showed a bit when he still hesitated in returning her to the crib, tickling the wide-awake infant beneath the chin so she squirmed again and grabbed his paw.
He was startled for a moment when he realized what Jasmine was about to do, but he didn't have long to worry before-
CLANG!
Tannia was all guilty as she cringed and looked down at the wooden basin she had caused to clatter heavily to the floor. She had apparently stood quickly, startled as well, and in the process, bumped into the nightstand and sent the basin to the floor.
"Sorry," she cringed with a whisper, though whispering was kind of pointless at this point, she had caused quite a racket.
::There was this moment, where Jasmine held VERY still, her face screwed up into the most unimaginable focus of pain ever, before she finally reached up and clutched her head from the sudden noise, cringing immensely before finally standing straight again, sighing as she made her way to the basin, and putting it back up wordlessly, a motion of silence to both of them before she looked back to Faith... and seeing her still not moving or waking up, sighed in relief, ruffling through her headfur before moving back towards her room, all without a single word, until she got to the door that was::
I'll see you BOTH in the morning! ::She snapped as quietly as she could, before the door was closed, drowning all candelight and further sounds of Jasmine heading back to bed...::
::And an audible sigh escaped from under Faith's cot::
Close... ::The little fox dibbun laughed quietly, before falling flat backwards on her bed, both arms spread wide::
More voices and sounds could be heard from beyond the door as Maddox pressed his ear against it. He heard a loud bang on the floor. Whatever it was, it sounded like something was going on in there...
Shrugging off any trace of fear, the kitten swung the door open...
[...........So what's Maddox supposed to be seeing here? ^^;
Okay, so this reply sucks, even for a Jen-style one...I've been kinda busy lately with work and all...]
::Instantly, the dibbun used Turan as her shield, falling flat again and soundless, not daring even make a noise above a breath, a paw covering her maw just for extra good measure...::
::Although... she couldn't help wonder herself whoever else had came in now, and a bated breath could almost be heard beneath her bed, as she tried to peek ever so inconspicuously past the hare to see who had came in THIS time now...::
What the heck went on here? Maddox looked around the inside of the infirmary expecting to see the same one he had seen from before only to see more new strangers...
There seemed to be no sign of the fox lady from before. Instead all he could see were two hares and what appeared to be a dibbun in hiding...
[I hope that's right... I haven't had time to see what's been going on in the infirmary to see who's inside right now...]
Um...hiya... I'm here for my checkup...
Oh NOW WHAT? Was it possible to have a quiet, uneventful midnight trip to the infirmary? Obviously not.
Turan, admittedly quite reluctant, obediently placed the little bunny back in the crib. He watched Jasmine's retreating figure, then turned to Tannia with a smirk.
"Well played."
Tannia hesitated a moment. "Oh. Thanks. It was... actually an accident."
Turan smirked at Tannia's reply, then turned to look at Faith. He winked at her. "We should probably get going, sweetie. You get some sleep and we'll be back in the morning, all right?"
He turned to head for the door, and was startled when, in the dim light, he saw another creature in the room. He stared at the unfamiliar creature for a few moments, surprised when he realized it was a kitten. It took a moment, but it finally clicked - this was the kitten who Jamie had also found out in the Wood.
He approached the kitten and knelt before him, smiling disarmingly. "Hello there. What are you doing up and about at this time of night? You should be sleeping."
Um...I couldn't sleep anymore... I got a little nervous so I wanted to come here to get it done without waiting... Said Maddox keeping his head down. He looked around the infirmary again. Whatever happened, it didn't look like he'd be getting that checkup now.
He also realized there were a few who were sleeping...definitely unlike the infirmaries in his place which ran almost 24 hours a day.
::Once more, Faith lay in her sleeping act on the bed, not even dare blink an eye open just now while Maddox was still there, especially now he could probably see the dibbun with Turan out of the way, the fox, almost as small as him, even smaller so, with her body, all that was visible there, covered in bandages, with only a cluster of headfur emerging, and one closed eyelid visible...::
::Maybe Faith could hope he wouldn't notice her, and go to bed in one of the cots, but still beneath the bed, the two hidden bats held their breath just as Faith did until Turan and Tannia could help sort the cat out...::
