((UNS---Daryle))

“Old and worn out? Hehehe, names never become old and worn out…they are constantly coming in and out of fashion.” Daryle said cheerfully with a knowing smile. “Oh well now…Ember you say? That is a name that one does not hear every day. It is pretty and unique!” The blonde haired male played with his empty glass and studied the girl before him briefly. He had already made up his mind that she was an Owl, though what kind of Owl she was remained unanswered. “Yes it is midday currently. Which raises another question; where are you staying? There are a few inns around….did you perhaps walk of site and become lost? I can help you find the place if it comes to it.” When Ember asked if Daryle was ok the Breezy Owl nodded. “Yes I am perfectly fine. I just tend to try and not drink so much. Hehehe….you could say that I have a low tolerance for alcohol.”

Daryle left Ember sitting at the table while he went and fetched a few more drinks from the bar. He glanced over his shoulder towards the red haired woman and let out a slow sigh. “It is strange how she seems rather…lost and out if it…dazed almost.” It was not every day a random woman appeared screaming in the streets for alcohol. What made things even weirder was the fact that she did not know what country she was in or what time it was. His earlier question about locating where it is she was staying was pretty useless. Daryle had already decided that Ember had nowhere to go. “Who are you…” Perhaps she had fallen over and forgotten what the day, time and place it currently was. If that were the case Daryle would only need to make a few phone calls (helping himself to his bosses contacts) and find out the stuff he needed.

Grinning as he turned and walked back towards Ember, Daryle held up two more drinks. His was a simple fizzy soda while hers was the same alcohol drink she had just finished. “So Ember….Quick question…” A sly smile spread on Daryle’s lips as he slid her drink towards her. “Are you an Owl?” He brought his childish drink to his lips and took a small sip before placing his glass back down. “No need to worry if you are. Being one in this area is actually ok, the people here find it quite fascinating...” The blonde male rotated his index finger slowly as if he were stirring something. “I should know because…” around his finger a small gust of wind began to take form. The result was eventually a very small and quite cute tornado. “I am one myself…" He laughed and grinned like a proud father "I am the Breezy Owl..”

Kate frowned slightly when Che mentioned that she should be back up in the room, laying down and healing from her wounds she received in Rome. "You know as well as I, Che, that I am fully healed after that endeavor in Rome." she replied, her mood turning ever so slightly sour because Che seemed to think that Kate was some sort of delicate flower. It had been two and a half months already! Add to that that he had managed to get Erin to heal her before Kate died... Well, Kate felt perfectly normal once again. It hadn't taken her that long to get back to her usual state.

"As for my other comments, you know perfectly well what I am referring to, Che. Do not play the dumbly innocent role with me." Kate added. She knew Che too well now to take anything he said seriously. But he still managed to get under her skin ever now and then. She opened one eye to see that Che had lowered his sunglasses to show that his eyes were dimly lit with a violet hue, meaning that he was using that annoying vision power he'd picked up somewhere. Kate gave Che a look that said, something along the lines of: 'Don't even think about using your powers here. So take that idiotic grin off your face already.' as she watched him flick a finger at her cards to make them fan out along the table space in front of her. Just to prove her point, Kate snatched the sunglasses off of Che's face to literally force him to stop using that cheating power of his, just to prove her point and put him on an even playing ground with the others. After which, the Eternity Owl calmly took up her hand of cards to hold them out of Che's reach before speaking once more. "Whether you or I win this hand, it doesn't matter. Either way, the winnings will be going with us in the end." While this little conversation was going on between Che and Kate, the dealer was already starting to take the bets from the other players at the table.

Nikolai smiled at Anya as she said she wasn't hungry, he shrugged and replied, "Alright, well, when you do get hungry, so long as you don't start doing photosynthesis, I'll make you whatever you'd like to eat." He continued smiling and stood up straight as she got up. He was worried about her, she wasn't acting like her old self as much. Again Nik figured she would just need time to adjust, but it didn't stop him from worrying. Nik stepped across the roof and onto a pillar of shadows that had raised him up. He spun around to face Anya and said, "Just because something's changed with you doesn't mean it matters to me. You'll still be you in my eyes." With that Nik lowered his shadow back to the ground and stepped back inside the cabin, dancing his way to the kitchen and saying to Elle, "Sorry about that, I'll get to work on your baked chicken." Nik spun around and began the preparations for Elle's request for lunch.

Nika smiled as Danny hopped up to follow her. She continued walking with him next to her, the dogs following behind them quietly. She thought for a moment and then asked, "Hey Danny, I just realized; I don't know when your birthday is. I guess I just didn't think of it... so, when is it? I'm gonna guess you're a... either January or March." Nika smiled and looked over at Danny, noticing his hand touching hers, she chuckled and put her arm over his shoulders as they walked. She smiled and said, "Well Danny, while we've been here in the nation's capital, we've seen pretty much all the monuments and taken the tour of the city a number of times. What would you like to do today?" She smiled and ruffled Danny's hair; she knew he hated that, but she couldn't help but laugh every time he got mad at her for it.

Roulin took in Bailey's little speech all the while licking his lips in expectation. The aroma of his french vanilla blend coffee was tantalizing and beguilingly smooth and it only begged for the Italian's attention with each waft. Then, there was Bailey and her power she was offering to him on a dinner plate. From the aura that she gave off in profuse, yet intoxicating amounts, Roulin could see that controlling a power like her's wouldn't be easy at all. He hadn't even seen her use her power so his Eidetic Memory held no information on the deadly ability. Still, he had his Psychometry at hand. Just a simple touch would give him the understanding he needed. First relishing in the velveteen flow that his coffee placed upon his pale, smirking lips, Roulin turned his dark purple eyes to the timid young girl. The fingers of his left hand were now tapping a rhythm as he waited for his breakfast to arrive.

"Stop doing that." requested the Owl of Life. "When you pick at your collar, it reminds me you have it on and then I imagine you as a dog. Now, like I said, I'll help you with your powers. That is of course after we're away from this place...away from people and you give me your ability. I have a plan for our session alright? And by the way, when we do train, don't hold back alright. Let your arms have their way. I'll be alright even if I'm torn to shreds." Brimming with confidence, the Owl sighed, his breath now laced with the sweet scent of sugar-laddened coffee. He had a hunch regarding just what Bailey's arms could and could not hurt. If he was right, which he deduced that he was only moments ago, then he had nothing to worry about. If he was wrong though, he'd probably be killed and so might Bailey.

~~~
"Do I know what you're referring to? I don't think I--" Che was cut off when the Russian woman snatched away his sunglasses. At the behest of Kate the elder Owl decided to deactivate his ability. A part of him wanted to look up into the eyes of the dealer and maybe give him a jolt of fear. The only place that would get them though was kicked out onto street only to be chased into the desert by people carrying torches and pitchforks. Together with Will, Che had felt the stab of a pitchfork before while being hunted down. The feeling was at all pleasant...
Either way, he'd seen what he'd needed to see in the surrounding area despite Kate's poker faced complaints. Her hand and the hands of the three people to his right were stored. At this juncture, he could easily change the faces of their cards making their hands as useless as they themselves were. To let her know this, or just to make her skin itch with the desire to smack him, Che whispered over to the woman, "You know I love you right, Kate? So very much..." Surely, he knew Kate wouldn't respond there, there being the table at which they sat. If she did respond, the slicked haired man doubted it would be without some kind of bitingly indifferent remark trailing behind it. Still, his grin remained and so did the knowledge of what was in everyone's hand. After his business partner spoke out once again, the Italian found himself grinning slightly wider now. Forever once, the two were on the same wavelength here. Che needed not to respond for what she said was exactly what he thought. As long as that understanding was present, then there was nothing at all to worry about. This game was as good as won. Without altering his cards in anyway, Che sat his hand down and awaited the results. Looking over to Kate once more, Che continued, by adding to his earlier statement, "With all my heart...just in case I didn't say that before."
Anya scowled and spun around to glare a little at Nik when he joked about photosynthesis. "What?! That's stupid! I'm not a plant, Nik." she replied, defensively to his comment. Then, she watched Nik head over to the shadow pillar he would be using to get back down to the ground. She had no idea what went through Niolai's mind sometimes. His next statements surprised her. Did he really think that she thought he didn't like her just because she became a Herald? Anya frowned and hurried over to the edge of the roof and looked down at Nik. But before she could really say anything in response, he had already 'danced' his way back into the house to make lunch for Elle. Scowling again, Anya turned from the edge of the roof and headed over to window to the attic that she had climbed through to actually get on the roof itself. Now she had to give Nik a piece of her mind just for what he said, before he went ahead with whatever assumptions he had about her. She knew he could just be worried about her, but Anya had to find out just by telling him that she was fine, which she was. And Anya disliked that he worried so much about her when she could clearly take care of herself.
After climbing back through that attic window in the roof, Anya made her way cautiously to where she had climbed up into the attic, bent over a little because the ceiling was low enough that she had to bend a little sideways. It only took her another few minutes to get out of the attic and make her way downstairs towards the kitchen. She could smell the food being cooked from the top of the staircase, and it only got stronger as she went downstairs. In the living room, Anya found Elle seated in front of her homemade laptop. Nik was clearly the one in the kitchen making the food and all the noise as well. Anya passed by Elle without a word and went into the kitchen. Leaning against the door frame, Anya watched Nik as he worked to make Elle her lunch.
"You really need to learn to stop worrying about me so much." Anya finally said simply. This time, when she said it, she didn't sound frustrated as she had in the past. Granted, she was frustrated that Nikolai worried so much, and she hated having him worry. "I don't like it when people worry about me. Besides, even though I act different now doesn't mean that I'll stay this way forever. I just need to get used to what that stupid Herald did to me when she died. Its not my fault she gave me her powers... not like I wanted them to begin with." Anya then paused before continuing. "You're an idiot to think I'm not the same person I was before the whole Herald business."
==
"Oh, really? Tell me something that I do not already know, Che." Kate retorted, rolling her eyes a little bit to Che's first response. She knew, just from his tone, that he was trying to butter her up before pulling off some sort of cheap trick to win the hand with his abilities. Even though she knew Che was in fact telling the truth about his feelings for her, Kate also knew that this was an extremely underhanded way to use those feelings to manipulate her emotions. Well, it wasn't going to work. There was no way she was going to let Che cheat his way into winning this game. If that was indeed what he was planning to do at all. Or maybe he was just using that tone of voice to scare her into doing something? Who knew. Whatever Che was trying to do, it wasn't going to work here. Not if Kate could help it.
Kate looked over at Che briefly, studying him. Personally, she rather liked the way his hair was cut now better than that ridiculous afro he preferred. But that was entirely besides the point. All that mattered now was keeping Che from cheating and getting them thrown out of the casino or something for his stupidity. "Yes. I do know that you love me with all your heart. But try not to use it to throw me off guard. This is, after all, only a simple card game. As such, I will not tolerate cheating in any form whatsoever." At this point, Kate gave Che a very tiny, almost coy and flirtatious, smile and leaned towards him to add in another comment. "No matter who is the one that is cheating. Even if that person is you..." With that, Kate had spoken her piece. Of course, the smile was only to try for an added effect, just to either startle Che, or throw him for a loop with the surprise it might bring. The Eternity Owl then leaned back away from Che to sit regularly in her chair once more.
((I'll post Erin when Bailey and Roulin decide to leave the restaurant.))
PostPosted: Mon Dec 05, 2011 4:47 pm
Bailey's hand dropped back down onto the table after Roulin had chastised her for picking at her collar and instead took to looking around the restaurant for a few moments before resting her aquamarine eyes back towards the Owl that had agreed to help her. Scents from the kitchen tantalized her sense of smell and her appetite, but strangely she wouldn't be able to bring herself to eat if she wanted to. If things did go right, she would be able to take control of not only her mutation, but her life as well as her power had been ruling her very existance, keeping her under its deadly thumb. "Don't worry, I don't plan on holding back for anything," she said narrowing her eyes at the purple-eyed Owl.
She wondered how long it would take him to control such an ability? Would he grasp it rather quickly, or would he continuously struggle? He seemed to be very confident in his abilities, a quality, which Bailey some-what admired respected. After a few moments of silence, the swinging doors to the kitchen opened and out walked the waitress carrying the plate with Roulin's breakfast. Bailey shook her head when the young woman asked if she wanted anything before turning to take down an order at another table, which had just been filled.
Ember watched the wind tornado with interest as he informed her he was an owl. She was mildly surprised by what he said, owls were everywhere, humans just lacked the acceptance to believe this to be true. she was however intrigued by his little tornado, "Breezy owl? wind was never my strong suit, but i don't mind it, helps some times. Yeah I'm an Owl Daryle... well I'm not sure if I'm an owl really, do heralds count in that case?" she asked suddenly making Daryl's tornado turn into a twisting inferno as she took a sip of her refilled glass, as well as a chance to add more of the alcohol to Daryle's drink as he was distracted.
"Mmm now that you mention it i really don't have anywhere to stay, spent the last two nights sleeping on the sandy beach a safe distance from the waves, some place that has cover would be nice, I'm not into the snow, it is wet when it warms up, or even a ticket to an English speaking country would be nice" she continued to sip the drink already feeling better despite having had no booze burning away her liver for three whole months, "not like i don't have money, i managed to obtain some of the currency here i think, but i wouldn't know what to do with it,"
---------------------------------------------------
Danny tried to push her hands away as she messed up her hair, "I don't know what to do!" he said already bored of DC too, a lot of history, but when it came down to it, the place really wasn't much fun for him to mess around in, "lets go back to the apartment and watch some more Zombie movies!" he said wondering what else he might try to do with the dead, some he had managed to move faster, "or how about some biology, id really like to see if i could bring a dinosaur back from the dead" he smiled not entirely getting the concept that dinosaur bones were not actually bones any more. "although they might need flesh in order for me to move it... yet" he smirked and settled his arms behind his head with the smug grin on his face, he was rather confident he could make bones walk, after all there are all kinds of stories about walking skeletons, there is a chance that another dead owl had walked the earth before Danny. "lets go to the library again, i now you liked the large section about guns and what not, i sure do hope Neah is okay"
Nikolai was about to ask if Anya had decided on what she wanted for lunch when she started to chew him out for worrying about her. He spun around to face her, his shadows working on the food while his hands rested. He smiled lightly at her and replied simply, "I don't think you're different, you're the one that thinks that. You're the one who wandered off into the woods for three weeks without so much as a goodbye, and the one who sits on the roof day in and day out. You're also the one who rarely eats anymore. I'd be an idiot not to worry about you." Nik spun around and tossed the salad a few times before spinning back around to face Anya again. He continued smiling and said, "If you don't want me to worry, then stop giving me reasons to. Now, what would you like for lunch?" Nik spun around and finished making the salad, the chicken would need a bit though.
=====
Nika laughed as Danny ran through various things they could do, putting her arm back around him after he had tried to push her away. She smiled and said, "Getting a little full of ourselves are we? Well then, I say we head back to the apartment, I'm exhausted after everything we've done this week." Nika sighed and leaned on Danny as they walked; she probably weighed next to nothing, having lost a bit of weight after being injured, along with the fact that her body weight was halved naturally thanks to her ability. "We can head to the library tomorrow I think, today we should relax." She smiled lightly, wondering where her brother was for the thousandth time since coming to D.C.
Anya scowled slightly, turning her head to face away from Nik as he began to chide her for her three week absence and not eating regularly. "I don't try to make you worry, it just happens, okay? I left you a note back then, but it doesn't seem as though you took the time to actually read it." Anya replied flatly with much sarcasm attached. "I don't always sit out on the roof, and at least I do eat sometimes, thank you very much." she added, looking back over at Nikolai and standing up straight. She wanted to wipe that silly grin off of his face, but there really wasn't much she could do about it at the moment. Here she was, trying to prove a point to him, and he just didn't seem to get it. Instead, Nikolai kept asking her if she was hungry.
"Ugh! Dammit, Nik! Forget I said anything. Make me lunch. I don't care what it is. If it'll get you to stop worrying over what I do, I'll eat it!" Because she was frustrated, Anya couldn't help but snap a little at Nikolai; no matter how nice he was to her. Not wanting to actually yell at him any more now, Anya spun on her heel and stalked out of view of Nikolai. She headed past Elle and towards the staircase again. Once upstairs, Anya went right to her room, slamming the door shut behind her; even though she didn't intend to do so. It didn't help that right now, the damn earth voices in her head started jabbering again. It had been so quiet and calm in her mind not even ten minutes ago, but that was ruined now.
Aeon looked at Cecilia and then to Aiden. Rubbing her head she looked at the couple and then into the air. "I got it!!! We can go to the zoo. I haven't been since I was a little girl and I think it would be good for the baby to go and see new things other than us all day" she said giggling. She ran into her room and grabbed some of the extra money she had saved in a jar and opened it, removing the money that was inside. She then went into the nursery and grabbed Aiden's winter ware.
Returning downstairs she smiled at Cecilia. "Come on and get ready you" she said in a playful voice. Reaching for her nephew, she began to dress him in his winter clothing. The young infant struggled against Aeon as she was dressing him but he eventually lost the battle between his aunt. She gave him a kiss and held him in her arms. She then went towards the wall and placed him in the stroller.
Elle continued to read information, then Anya walked in. As she began to talk with Nik, Elle stopped what she was doing and observed their dialogue. When she finally left Elle shut off her computer and it vanished from sight. Walking towards the kitchen she stared at Nik. "I'm sorry that you are worried" she said trying to make him feel better. Elle still had emotions she just normally chose to function off sheer logic and not emotion. She looked down and back at Nik. "I'm sure she loves you...you know where she doesn't want you to worry about her...you know and I guess view her as an independent woman who can handle herself. But I also do see why you are worried, we are all mortal and death can happen to all of us. But now she's a herald, immortality and an element at that, she's just getting used to the transition" she said smiling hoping that Nik would understand.
Cecilia was pleasantly surprised when Aeon suggested that they go to the zoo. She herself hadn't been since she was about five years old. Quickly finishing off her plate, she carried it into the kitchen, washed it, and put it away. The other dishes could wait until she got back. It would be nice to get out of the house for a few hours. It was a beautiful day outside, if a little cold. Because she was already dressed, all she had to do was don herlong and fitted leather coat with fur lining. With the coat she wore a pair of tight jeans, a pair of black boots, which fit over the jeans, and a red off the shoulder top. It was clear that her style had changed a bit and she now looked like, what most would call...a "biker chick". Walking into the nursery where Aeon had just finished dressing a rather fussy Aiden, she spoke. "I think I'll follow closely behind on the motorcycle," she said. She could have flown, but today she wanted to feel the power of the large metal body between her legs, the powerful roar as the bike sped towards her destination. They had gotten a motorcycle not too long ago to go along with a car, but Cecilia chose to ride the motorcycle more often than drive the car.
Lucien turned slightly, to look at jeannie, who over theie extended stay had managed to steal more then a single glance from the Death Owl. With his new body and personality came slightly different tastes, something about her, perhaps it was because she was like him that he was almost drawn to. He reached out, tracing his hand down her blonde hair he felt it between his fingers. "Like silk." He said softly. He still had feelings for Amara, but the unusual amount of distance between them, both emotionally and physically had sort of given off the impression that they were not as close as originally. He felt that she was hiding something, and unbenounst to him there was an unexpected X-Factor, their son, whom he still had no idea existed. "Jeannie, what do you think of Amara?" He asked, this was the first time in weeks that he had mentioned her, not because he didn't think of her, he did all to often, her name was simple something he couldn't face, not right now, he hadn't seen her in a long time, and now he was different what if their connection wasn't as strong as it was before? As he looked at Jeannie, he said. "Why are you here? There is no obligation, I have you under no contract, and there isn't a formal team. So why? What keeps you here?" He asked. He didn't mind having her there, her powers were useful and she was good company. He took his eyes off of her and stared over her head, looking into the distance behind her, staring, it was something that he did to often now, just stopping and looking at nothing in particular. His new title, it gave him perspective. Sure up until this point he addressed himself as the Death Owl, but it was never true, he was no death owl until recently. Only once his title fully activated could he finally see what it meant to be one of Great Four, his mind filled with thoughts of Thomas, Will, Roulin, and Noel, in one way or another he had had a connection with all four of them, they had a clarity he couldn't understand until this point, perhaps they still did, despite their various destinies, Noel now dead, and Thomas now the Wind Herald.
As Cecilia left on the motorcycle, Aeon took the baby towards the car. The stroller collapsed into a car seat and she strapped young Aiden in. Hopping into the driver's seat she started the car as she began to drive. For some reason, Aeon felt more at peace now than she had in a while. It took a few minutes to head to the zoo as she parked in the parking lot. She would wait for Cecilia in the front. Aeon soon stepped out as she unbuckled the child and expanded the stroller. She locked the door as she pushed young Aiden towards the gate of the Zoo. For some reason Aeon felt a little shifty but she decided it was just a side effect from the drug.
Jeannie looked up at Lucien. He was actually showing interest now? She had to admit she did like the attention and she liked Lucien a lot. When he asked her what she thought of Amara she looked into his eyes. "I don't know her enough to form a valid opinion of her" she said. "I have heard tales of her power and destruction she is capable but of, but I still stand neutral" she told Lucien ready to get off the subject of that woman.When he asked her why she was here she looked into the distance, her light blue eyes sparkling in the light.
"I'm here because I want to be. I believe that you have what it takes to make change in this world" she told him. Sure she did like Lucien but she still had her reasons why she was still around. She needed Lucien to accomplish what she wanted. But would she ever tell him of the other reason. "Besides Lucien, I have seen so much in the last few months than a lot of people have in their whole lives" she said smiling a little.
Cecilia climbed upon the sleek black motorcycle, which was parked just outside. She donned a pair of nice black leather gloves and fastened them and a black helmet with a tinted visor that no one could see into, but that she could see out of perfectly. No one would be able to determine her appearance unless she removed the helmet for not even the barest inch of her skin was revealed. She pushed the kick stand up with her foot and bringing the motorcycle to life reveling in the feel of the power between her legs. After revving it a few times, she sped off keeping close behind Aeon. It was a rather windy day and the strong gusts did their best to knock her off course, but she merely laughed and weaved herself through the traffic with great ease. She soon arrived at the zoo just a few seconds after Aeon and found a parking spot. She allowed the motorcycle to run for a few more seconds before she turned it off and pushed the kickstand down and stepped off, removing her helmet, and shaking her braid, smoothing down a few strands of silver hair before she walked over to Aeon and Aiden.
"I see, a valid point. She's powerful, very, one of the best perhaps that's one of the reasons I was drawn to her." He said softly, in response to Jeannie's opinion of Amara. He barely noticed as she moved onto his next question, his mind as usual was a million miles away. He shook his head a little and looked towards Jeannie again. He listened to Jeannie, hearing every single word clearly. He smiled and shook his head lightly, his black hair fell gently into his eyes. "Is that right. Whose to say, changing the world is no small feat, only a handful of people have done so, for better or worse. To do that I'll need support. That's why I need you, Your...Support is what I need." For once he didn't address her for only her powers, something Lucien couldn't ever recall doing. He stared at her for another moment before he took a step back, thinking about how to respond to her next statement. "True, what we have all been through dwindles the experience of other owls, and humans. We've single handedly lived lives brimming with experience. We're the culimation of these events.
