Starlight Princess Lucky "Technically I'm not now either..." she replied after a pause. She frowned, considering her word choice, "As for how...well I guess you could say it was a bit of an agreement? Both sides had things we needed from each other, and the position was available and needed to be filled right away...so as long as the terms of the agreement were met, I had the job." "Forgive me, but the process seems fascinating. It...sounds like instead of being royalty you were signing up to be a guardian of some kind, or like how at home we have the town guards or the Knights. Joining nobility implies you have either been born to it or have done some kind of great favor for one already in that position, but this is completely different!" Cid replied with a small laugh. For her land, the main ruling body had to be of the same bloodline. For that reason she wasn't quite sure, but she was trying to learn as much as she could while she was away from home. Trade relations seem to have already been cropping up between this land and her own, it would be beneficial for her people, and herself, to act as some kind of ambassador while she was busy searching for her other problem. "You say you are not one now...but it sounds like Lord Astraeus still remains one. Did you find what you needed out of being in the position and that is why you left? Has someone taken your place as a member of the pair?...oh I am sorry, asking so many questions at once..." she lowered her head sheepishly, a bright blush obvious by the hue visible on the tips of her ears.

"Such a... Generous young lady." a voice said from behind. El peered over her shoulder. A woman with light hair was staring at her past her shades. In her hand was a curious sight, one she had never seen before. It appeared to be some sort of cigarette, but its smoke was violet and its smell unfamiliar. "It's why I don't like this world, the people are too nice. Makes me sick." All of the sudden another party-goer interjected. "I have found candied ginger does wonders for that, darling." a striking blonde woman chimed, trying to be helpful. A furtive smile crossed El's lips. She turned to them patiently. "Yes, well..." She held up the first woman's wallet, something she lifted in that momentary discussion of remedies. "Looks can be deceiving." She glanced back at the prince. She promised she'd be on her best behavior that evening. But then she already proved her point. With a gentle toss, she lobbed it back in the woman's hands. "A night such as this can bring out the good in anyone. It's all there, if you care to check." Laney giggled at their banter. "Well one cannot simply have just one favorite color...there's just too many to choose from! Personally I favor violet, but some days I'm more of a lavender, you know?" She really was letting her inner diva show a bit, since the two were essentially the same thing... Nevertheless, for a fashionista she was at least a friendly one. She clapped her hands together all of the sudden. "Oh! I just realized! I think I'm about done with my little errand handing out the party favors~ Would either of you care to dance?" Heck, she'd probably dance with both of them at the same time and think nothing weird of it.As Nate emptied his pockets trying to tetris all his knives and pocket squares in the limited space of his outfit, the deadly weapons attracted some attention. A hand reached out and picked up a knife, unsheathing it. "Not bad. Needs a bit of sharpening." Danny commented, looking down the length of the blade. "Are these for emergency or do you just carry your collection around?" Solsi began to spread the word about the contest and its mystery prize, collecting ballets from people as their votes rolled in. "That makes six." she said cheerily to her friend. But Jessie was a little distracted. "Hm? What is it?" She followed her friend's eye to Gigi across the room. "Gigi?" she asked quietly. She could tell the answer by the way she didn't answer. "She's really nice! I'll introduce you..." Little did Solsi know, or Gigi for that matter, that the two actually did meet, once. Only it was when Jessie was transformed into her alter ego, Astra. They spent the whole day together on Valentines' Day...but the girl probably wouldn't recognize her. Which was likely for the best, being a heroine and all...but part of her wished she would... Jessie shook her head shyly. "N-no! It looks like she's with someone, I don't want to intrude..." Solsi took another quick glance. "Oh, I see. Well, maybe we can swap partners! People do that all the time at dances! Come on, it can't hurt to try..." Before Jessie knew it, she had run them both clear across the room. Boy, being a hero must've awakened something in Solsi, she never used to be this bold. "Hey guys!" she exclaimed to Gigi and Nef cheerfully. "I couldn't help but notice how good of dancers you two are, do you mind if we steal a quick lap around the ballroom? This is my friend, Jessie." She gave one final tug on her arm and released her in Gigi's direction. Solsi turned to Nef. "If I step on your toes, I'll owe you a drink." she laughed. * * * OOC: Still taking votes for our 'Best Dressed' contest~ PM me your top 3 people!

"Ah, well..." she wa giving the poor girl the wrong impression. She sighed, "Well, to be honest I am something of a special case. Normally it is as you say-you have to be born into it or have done something pretty big. I guess you can say I am along the lines of having done something pretty big. The council for their part did see me as something of a guard. It was the prince and her majesty the queen who suggested I take up the opening for the Starlight Princess." She was silent for a moment, then shook her head, "The prince cannot give up his role. His blood binds him to the position. As for my replacement...no, here hasn't been one yet."

Gwen grins as she gently tugs on the hand she had deliberately not let go of yet, "The waltz is easy to learn~! And... Might be the only one I know. Please?" Don't look now, but there might be some full strength puppy eyes directed at Clara.

"Human, elf, they're all the same to me." She shrugs as she catches catches the wallet, tucking it into a pocket with an exaggerated sigh of annoyance. "Shame you didn't try to take anything from it, I would have had a new soul to play with." She takes a puff of her cigarette as she examines the women again, "Probably a good thing in the long run, I don't feel like dealing with two angry dragons at the moment. That "Lucky" girl wouldn't be a fun addition either..." Her gaze has shifted from them to the people around the room for the moment, sizing them up as she had them moments before.

I also feel like that is an excuse to get me out there." Although the glow around the Phantom was as bright as ever, her form began to fade. "I don't have the faintest clue as to what you're implying. I will have you know, it takes a lot of strength making contact with the Living! It is entirely draining." At this point, the Phantom was barely visible even within the lights of the room shining through her. "In fact, I think I should take some time to regather my energy. I will leave you two to your fun." With a small wave of her fingers, the ghost disappeared from sight.

"Hey! Wait a minute!" Before Clara could even finish, Phantom had vanished. She grumbles to herself before giving a sigh of defeat. "As long as it's easy to learn and I do not look like a fool out there, then fine. I will dance with you."

"Awesome!" Gwen eagerly pulls Clara onto the dance floor and gets them both in the correct position, "Right, so uh... I'll be leading and we're basically just counting in three's and our steps go with each number." As the writer does not actually know how to dance we shall pretend that Gwen is now giving Clara good instructions on how to waltz.

Whelp, they were on the dance floor. The witch's cheeks were lightly blushed, possibly due to the fact that she's about to fail in the worst way. She nods while listening to the woman's instructions. "Alright. I'll try not to step on your feet..."

"Just wait. It's not over yet," she replies, making sure she was avoiding the lead's feet. The waltz seemed simple enough. She didn't have physical experience, but she had watched Kate plenty of times.

Whispering Minstrel Cid cocked her head to the side curiously, "So...if it requires one of the bloodline...I'm guessing the role won't be filled for some time? Or are there other relations?" "For the first Starlight Royal, yes," she replied. "The second one doesn't necessarily need to have the bloodline, though it is preferred. Traditionally if there are two children born into the family, it is the other sibling that takes the role. I have also heard of the second position going to those who have married into the family, such as the prince's father." She paused, thinking about what the belled girl said. Won't be filled for some time? Certainly not if Astraeus had anything to say about it...She glanced at the prince who was currently mingling with other guests around the dance floor, unaware of her gaze. He would stall the council as long as he could for a replacement. Lucky understood why, but that was foolish on his part. He had responsibilities, and his loyalty to her was going against that. Overseers needed to look out for the stars, keep them aligned, and protect them. That was especially the case now. The redhead frowned, turning her attention back to the other. "Currently there are no others, but that is when special circumstances come into play. Stars are guides, but they also need protection and guidance themselves. It is simply too big of a job for a single person." And even if it wasn't, she thought, if something happened to the single royal, there would not be another to continue guiding the stars until a replacement was born.

"You're already doing better than me." Gwen smiles, keeping the pace slow for now until Clara is more confident. She tries to subtly examine Clara as much as she can as they dance, "You know... You smell a lot like Kate in a way, but different."
