Turan lifted his eyes again to try and get a decent look at Gem, wondering why she was suddenly insisting it was about time to leave. He shifted his attention to Kusaa momentarily, and then it was obvious by the expression on his face that a thought had just occurred to him.

"Hold on a moment, you two," he said suddenly. "I get that you two are often up in the dark hours, but why are you in here?"

He had just realized the two bats had no real reason for being in the infirmary at this hour either. His tone wasn't accusing, but he did give Kusaa a very curious look.

::There was a long, awkward pause from both bats, until Gem's voice suddenly blurted out:: I probly shouldn' a said that, huh?

::Now it was Kusaa who had the awkward spot, and it was almost completely obvious she was lying as she turned her head aside slowly:: The Abbess asked us a favour... to watch the little one during the night... make sure she was okay...

::For some reason, Kusaa was moving now, backwards, sideways... bumping a chair on the way, until she was in front of Faith's cot... and Gem had quickly reappeared beside her from Turan's little perch, both of them arms behind their back, wings out like a screen hiding behind them...::

::It was dim enough light... but the light scratching noise was unmistakable as Kusaa was trying to do something with her footpaw, repeatedly...::

::Wait, what was that she just kicked under the cot?!::

Gem's awkward reply to the question immediately made Turan suspicious. He looked with a narrowed gaze at the two bats. While Kusaa spoke, he looked at her, shaking his head a little, cocking an eyebrow. Did the two bats think the hare had suddenly gone stupid? "Would you like to answer again... without lying to me this time?" He asked patiently. He had caught the Dibbun with the paw in the cookie jar - that was the exact tone he used.

Tannia had stood and snuck over to Gem, having heard a strange scratching noise coming from the bat's direction. "What are you doing?" She asked suspiciously when she came up, having seen Gem hide something beneath the cot.

I'm not used to... trying to... ::She was quickly faltering, flailing away uselessly, until eventually she was left looking down shamefully almost, her wings and ears slowly drooping down with her disposition::

::But at the same time, Gem flailed her arms out side to side, waving as if it would stop Tannia getting behind her:: I didn't hide anythin'!!!

::Who said anything about hiding might have been a good retort... but just behind her... just barely noticable beneath the dim light... an unrolled piece of gauze?::

::Suddenly, Faith let loose several overexaggerated snores...::

::It looked like whatever these two were up to, they weren't alone in their little act...::

Whoever said that you hid something, Gem? ::Sasha asked with a raised brow, crossing her arms and resisting the urge to tap her footpaw. Dibbuns were so cute, and they were horrible at lying when being caught doing something wrong. Or, maybe they weren't doing anything wrong, but the two bats were doing something they weren't telling. She tried to catch what Gem was playing with in the dark, but her attention diverted elsewhere...::

::Hearing Faith's snoring, Sasha turned her gaze to her cot. It was hard to see her in this dim light, but Sasha came to visit her on occasion and knew enough where it was:: Someone should fluff her pillow, she's snoring something awful.

"Oh?" Tannia asked casually, kneeling down and lowering herself close to the ground by the cot to get a look underneath. However, it was quite dark and she couldn't see in her darkness under the cot. She scooted closer and reached underneath, picking up the gauze. Turning, she sat on the floor, her back resting against the cot as she looked at Gem with a raised eyebrow.

Turan watched Kusaa for a few moments longer, shaking his head a bit when she failed to give a proper reply. He had turned to see what Tannia was holding. As soon as he realized what it was, Faith started up her absurd snoring act. Turning, he gently set the bunny back in the crib, walking slowly towards Faith's cot.

"You know, no one should be keeping secrets, it's not good..." he said lightly, softly, as he continued to meander towards the little vixen's cot. "Especially the Abbess, the Abbess should never lie."

"And so," he said, stopping by Faith's cot and returning his gaze to the two bats. "You two should probably tell me what's going on, because I'm sure the Abbess would not like if her friends lied. The Abbess doesn't lie, so neither should you."

::Even as the game was all falling apart, Gem nonchalantly stepped on the trail, almost excusably enough to make it look like she didn't mean to, but that trail lead under the bed to something...::

::Yet while one hadn't given up, and one had already given in to a sudden shame, Faith's snoring act suddenly stopped, and it was noticable enough to see her ear flicker for a second, before finally, she shifted, and sat up:: We didn't wanta halfta... ::She said apologetically, which did nothing for Kusaa's mood, nor for Gem who moaned slightly, her own ears drooping in turn::

::Well... at least the bats hadn't unravelled the vixen, all her dressings and everything else seemed in place, but what on earth the plan was for this whole setup had to be something only dibbuns could think of...::

It was impor'ant...

Tannia held the bandages there in her paws, looking around and noticing how they still led there under the cot. She shot Gem a suspicious expression, giving the little bat an opportunity to come clean before she went under and found out what was there herself.

Turan, pleased that his little guilt-trip routine had brought Faith around, now looked disapprovingly at the three culprits. "I think you three need to tell me what's going on right now. Hiding and going about doing something you know you shouldn't is very bad - especially when you're up and about in the middle of the night where you shouldn't be."

"So go on now," he insisted. "What are you all doing? What's so important?"

::The bat, catching Tannia's glance and the trail of bandages under the cot, slowly, silently stood aside, her ears actually collapsing entirely now, as she let the hare trail in whatever she'd find underneath the bed now...::

::Faith looked like she was going to say something so many times, but each time, it seemed she found this little lump in her throat after Turan's words... and before the hare's patience might have been about to give, it seemed as if the sounds that WERE coming out were the ones that sounded horribly like she was about to cry...::

::THAT was when Kusaa spoke up, casting off the sudden awkwardness she'd taken from her own little guilt-trip, when she looked straight up, wings and ears rigid and proud again as she came out and saved Faith the trouble of forcing the words out:: She's trying to walk.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 27, 2006 3:15 pm

Tannia lifted a brow at the guilty little bat Dibbun, wondering what on earth she could possibly be hiding. Looking at Gem for a few moments longer she turned back over on all fours, reaching her paw beneath the cot to follow the line of gauze.

Turan had crossed his arms across his chest, following his attention from one guilty Dibbun to the next, wondering which one would finally fess up. He was taken aback when he realized Faith was nearly in tears. He had never seen Faith cry - she was always energetic and optimistic. He had dropped his arms and his whole suspicious demeanor flooded out of him as he looked prepared to comfort the distraught little vixen.

Before he could turn to console Faith however, Kusaa had taken it upon herself to explain the situation. He blinked, a frown line forming between his brows. He wasn't sure exactly now what to say. He stood there in silence for a few moments, then turned and walked back beside Faith, carefully sitting there on the side of her cot. "Faith... it's okay... I'm not mad, don't be upset..." somehow he didn't think that had anything to do with why Faith was on the verge of tears.

"You have never asked your mother about trying to walk? If it is that important to you..."

::She wrung her mittened-up paws at her face, a sniffle emerging, but luckily, she didn't seem quite ready yet to burst into sobs JUST yet, but ready to go at any moment as she looked to Turan, and Kusaa and Gem took it upon themselves to stay out of this again...::

M-momma doesn' think I can... ::She sniffed, shaking her head::

Been in here a long time... long LONG time... ::She reiterated, and indeed, it was true... to think back how long ago she'd first been brought here... in secret it was, and only by chance a whisper had let them know she was even there...::

::In all her time... she'd only once been seen without being swathed in these bandages that still covered her now, and even then, she barely managed to take the two steps to Ayla without having to be caught falling...:: Neva allowed to try... stay inna bed, ress' up...

::And then she slowly sniffled again, calming now, starting to smile again:: Kusaa n' Gem, both wanned ta help... if momma coo'nt know, they been 'elpin' me a few times out a' night...

I dun wanna be in bed alla time if I gonna be abbess...

Abbesses try a' help alla abbey, dun they?

::And finally, Tannia may have been able to retrieve what was under the bed... a pillow, resewn very shoddily in many areas, and held together entirely with bandages, and a broom end for a rail, with a comedic little face drawn in with charcoal...::

Tannia pulled the object out, giving it a very confused look. She lifted it and inspected it, listening as she did so to the conversation going on.

Turan was silent as Faith spoke, frowning a little. He knew Jasmine would know best, but it was so sad to see Faith here now, so upset. The hare had lifted a paw and gently ran it through that bit of headfur there on Faith's head, as he had done ever since her head was visible to the world. He shook his head a little. "Helping others has nothing to do with being able to walk, sweetie. Besides, you're still young, you've a long time to get better."

However, Turan couldn't help but be curious... "How has it been going with them helping you?"

::One last sniff and that was it as she felt Turan ruffling the little bit of headfur visible, and she did smile again:: I took a few steps! ::She proudly announced, but falling a little crestfallen again:: 's hard though...

She keeps falling over! ::Gem burst in with a giggle, imitating wobbling back and forward on her feet:: N'en we 'aveta catch her an-

::Suddenly, Gem caught Kusaa's disapproving look, and wilted again, before looking to Turan:: She's never asked anything of you before, if she wants to keep trying, won't you let her?

::Somehow, she'd imagined the request being a bit more grand, like asking Turan if he'd have known what it was like to have to stay in this room for so long, or not being able to walk on your own two footpaws, but she imagined he already had a good understanding of Faith's plight... and for that, it wouldn't just be him she needed to convince, it was all of them...::

If Jasmine found out from any one of you, she'd surely tie her to the bed and barricade the windows.

You all know how protective she is, don't you?
PostPosted: Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:49 pm

Turan continued to sit there with the little Abbess, smoothing our her headfur almost subconsciously as he sat there listening to all of them plead their case. When Kusaa had turned to try and convince him, he frowned, shaking his head a little. He didn't see where he had the right to lie to Faith's own mother.

Mulling it over in his mind, he glanced over at Tannia for a moment, as if seeking her opinion on the matter. When he received a noncommittal shrug in return, he sighed.

Then he thought about all the trouble he had caused when he was young. As far any who would remember were concerned, none of these Dibbuns had anything on the mischief he caused. And at least these Dibbuns were doing something... good. Thinking of all the times others had covered for him, he finally looked resigned.

"Very well, I won't tell your mother. But you have to promise me two things, all right?" He said seriously, looking down at the small fox beside him.

"One, you must be careful, don't be dangerous about it. And two: continue to tell me how it's going."

::All at once, Faith and Gem's faces lit up, while Kusaa let out such a sigh, clasping her paw over her chest in great relief as her wings relaxed, and Faith nodded once and definitely::

Issa promise!!

::Immediately, Gem grabbed hold onto the modified pillow she'd yanked from Gem's care earlier, as the little bat dibbun had already took to her wings again, giggling::

Sorry, I'monna need 'Faith' back!!

::In among all the dibbuns rejoice, and Faith's sudden hug against the older hare, a light flickered into being in the far corner of the infirmary, where the door to Jasmine's room was, with Kusaa whirling round, ears pinned straight up...::

Who's wandering nilly nally in MY infirmary at this unworldly time of night?! ::Came Jasmine's voice, as if anyone would own up...::

::Instantly, Kusaa pulled back into the shadows, rushing under Faith's cot, while Faith fell back, this time, a better imitation of stone silence, while Gem whirled round and round for a hiding place!::
