Hm, interesting mini challenge. A really good one, too.
I'm not sure if I'll do it. If I were to submit a piece for critique I'd put in a lot more time and effort than I have been doing lately. (Because, honestly, what's the point of half-assing a picture meant for critique?)
The thing is, I'm a perfectionist most of the time and I work very slowly. This means hours on end of sitting at my computer drawing. The problem, however, is that I have back pain when I do that. This challenge has been great for my art, but terrible for my back. I've really had to cut down the time I spent on drawing for it because of the pain I get.
There have been a few times where I've tried drawing leaning over, not actually sitting. But that is difficult and uncomfortable too.
I get that back pain whenever I sit or lie down, but prolonged sitting makes it worse. After very long drawing sessions it can get worse for days and the pain is still strong even when I'm standing. It's quite annoying.
Although, I have been wanting to do art of my current avvie..

I want to do the mini-challenge so badly, but I hate the picture post forum with a passion... crying Same with the writers forum, those people are just as mean, and I think it has to do with the fact that they're not speaking with you face-to-face... :/
Also, I'm starting to feel like I'm getting too old on gaia, even though I know I can't be...It's just, a lot of people giving critique end up being younger than myself, and they're not usually well-practiced artists either. -.-
Ok, mini-rant end...I'll have to think on this more before I make my decision to be raked over coals or not. sweatdrop

Consider working traditionally, at least for the sketch stage? Then you can maybe stand up while drawing, if you have a counter/desk/flat surface that's the right height. I hate being stuck at my desktop for hours and hours and that's partly why I work traditionally so much. XD I am significantly older than you. ninja The trick to PP, I've found, is just to ignore any advice that is mean, and if they are polite but you don't agree, just be polite back, thank them, and don't actually listen. XD My biggest issue is that no one posts in my threads. XD Hmm, good point. I'm guessing that we are fine if we make a thread, even if we don't get a response?

hmmm I understand... do you think it would help if I just asked people to post there images there instead of posting + asking for cretiques?

I've gone a head and did my submission for the day... I'll probably redraw my avi tomorrow if I have time. But it will also allow me to test the water... XD see if its ok, or just really bad. If its to bad I might change the mini challenge for something else. I'm not a fan of flammers >.>

XD My biggest issue is that no one posts in my threads. XD Hmm, good point. I'm guessing that we are fine if we make a thread, even if we don't get a response? Perhaps you are. I have no idea how old you are, but I know there are plenty of people on here that are older than I. xD I tend to get a lot of people posting in my threads, and there are times when I get good and polite people. I'm not the little kid I used to be, so I no longer get worked up over internet rudeness (unless it involves family). However, I do get scared and saddened quite easily...I take a lot to heart, and I'm not good at believing in my artistic skills...I'm not looking to be a professional, this is just something I love to do, and I get heartbroken when people tell me how much crap I am. sad Kai_Chi hmmm I understand... do you think it would help if I just asked people to post there images there instead of posting + asking for cretiques? It's probably fine as is. After all, if they get responses in their threads, they will likely be critique anyway. ^^
