Tam finds a metal pole to discharge himself on and flies back to the cottage, suddenly feeling a bit ashamed. He shakes the rain from his feathers, morphs back to kitsune form and climbs inside.
"Kero... Taro... I'm... sorry..." he says going to kneel by the cub. "I wasn't thinking..."

Tam swallows hard. "Listen, I... I didn't send you out there. You went on yer own..." But his words sound lame even to himself.

*Kero looks up...and Tam sees that his words are mirroring Kero's thoughts*
Sira...I...I'm sorry....

Tam sighs and picks him up. "Yeah... well so am I... I should have come back with ye and not left ye here all alone either... now we both got him mad at us." He sighs and wrings out his hair a bit, then snatches up a spare shirt to towel it dry. "Taro, do ye remember when ye were younger, how ye used to think it so funny to comb out me hair. Could ye... would ye..."

*Kero nods...then asks as he is combing*
Sira...is...is Hopian really mad at me? He's walling me off...so I can't tell...

Tam chuckles ruefully. "I actually think he is more angry at me than you, for attempting to let you see what he was doing. He felt I was putting you at risk, though at the height we were at, ye were rather safe... cold maybe... but safe. And if ye really want to know, he's walling me off as well. So I think we can safely say... he's pissed."

*Suddenly, thought gets through to them both*
I'm angry at both of you...you, Tam...for keeping him out when he could have been struck or frozen...and you, Kero, for disobeying me and putting your life in danger in the first place...Mr. Call me when I'm riding a bolt of lightning....I may not have power over you, Talesian...but you, Kero, can expect a trip across my knee when I have calmed down completely...
*The walls rise again, shutting Hopian off...and they cannot be pierced...seems he's had a lot of practice...keeping Kero out of his mind has honed his skills*

*Kero nods*
Yep....*His eyes suddenly flash light green*...Sira...I've an idea...to turn the tables on him...he's not the only one who can wall off someone...he can't get in now...

"Kero, what have ye done?" asks Tam worriedly. He turns to face the cub with a small frown. "Did you just wall him off?" he stammers with a groan. "Damn, that means he's gonna come back to see what is wrong now... I would have rather he cool off his temper a bit first."

*Kero shakes his head*
That's the thing...I haven't walled off...I've prjected an emotion...Dawnlord Mica taught me...that day that we met him...when he and I took a few minutes...in my mind, he showed me how to do it...Hopian just thinks I'm scared of being spanked...and I am...but now I think...
Sira....Technically....Hopian is still a cub, right?

"Physically... I suppose so, though he is older then you are right now. Emotionally, sorry, kiddo... He's as grown up as they come." says Tam digging out his comb and finishing the job he asked Kero to do.

*Kero pulls the comb out of his hands, using his tail to guide it through Tam's hair*
Sorry, Sira...but I didn't know where ye kept yers...and this is too frizzed for my claws...and if he is cub physically...but adult emotionally...then this is a perfect plan...
It's against the rules to punish someone twice for the same misbehavior, right?
