Suddenly a very loud grumble from a very tiny tummy reminds them that they haven't broken their fast just yet.

"Sowwy..." moans Luna landing back on the chair. "Buff I's empty insiwde...." She gives them her best starving puppy look and groans. "I hungwy!!!!!!!"

Smiling, Kero moves over to where he had set up his makeshift kitchen the night before, preparing the ingredients he possesses for a good, well rounded most important meal of the day.

"Alright, Luna. Come on over here and help Daddy cook breakfast." He says with a smile, "I need an extra pair of paws to make the job go much quicker."

The instant his eager helper arrives, he sets her up to setting the table and toasting bread one slice at a time over the fire. It helps to keep her occupied. Kept her out of trouble, which she was wont to get into when cooking.

It doesn't take long for her to set the table, nor to toast the bread. Slice by slice she carefully singes the surface, getting it just right, but when she gets to the end of the loaf she wants to do more, so she goes off looking through the supplies.

Finally, Kero finishes his omelets and fried potatoes, which he has created completely from scratch, chopping the ingredients just right, and turns about to find her surrounded by mounds of toasted bread.

"Did I makes enuff?" she asks worriedly.

Kero counts to a hundred in his head so he doesn't say something stupid, then twists out his hands and teleports most of the toast back into their supplies, changing it back into bread in the process.

"Luna, I said to make one loaf of bread into toast. You made enough with one loaf. Why did you make more than one loaf?"

Luna hangs her head, a tiny tear slipping from one eye. "You no say onwy one woff... You say towst bwead... so I twosted bwead.... wots of bwead... wots and wots of bwead.... I wuff helpin'... " Suddenly she runs from the cave, too upset to even fly.

"What's wrong with Luna?" asks Tes walking over from where she had finally got Nimbus down and asleep in his sling swing.

Looking back over the events of the morning in his head, Kero sees he had indeed forgotten to tell Luna to only toast one loaf of bread, and immediately rushes out of the cavern without bothering to answer Tes, cursing himself for a foolish, inattentive, addlepated, self-contained nitwit.

"Luna. Luna, luv, I'm sorry. I made a big mistake. Will you come out and talk to me please?"

But Luna is nowhere to be seen and no matter how hard he looks, he can't seem to find her.

Finally, he morphs to his dragon form, and goes to sniffing, trying to find her scent trail, starting at the cavern and heading outward.

Nope, no Luna... no scent trace, no nothing... not even a hint of her aura. No matter where he looks he can't find her and thus learns a very hard lesson in parenting. Never ever give a small child a job without supervising them closely. especially one that has open ended parameters.

Many a flower garden has been flooded or vegetable picked well before it's time by well meaning youngsters who've been told to go pick some beans or water the daisies. They are so eager to please, so enamored by this rush of responsibility, they get carried away. He's also learned another, far sadder lesson. Watch what you say when correcting said child upon finding the outcome of the first lesson. Many times these children are struggling to help as best they can. And telling a very hungry dragon, no matter the size, to help fix food is inviting trouble. Their eyes are always bigger than their tummies.

(and... sad to say... she's not completely over all the emotional mess of before... just because a child acts fine, doesn't mean they are... her memory of her problems back at the keep are still there, very close to the surface...)

Nodding to himself at what he has learned and cursing himself for a fool for forgetting that he hadn't told her one loaf only, He sits down in front of the cavern, retaking his humanoid shape. From there, his eyeballs turn gray, and he turns cold, as he invokes his all-seeing gaze to find his wayward daughter, reading the lines of fate.

And gets an impression of something small and dark streaking for the skies. It's almost a head smack moment as he remembers the gate. Where does a small upset child go to hide from a daddy who sees everything and is quick to punish when one does something wrong? Some would cower in fear in the first spot they could find, true, but most would run away as far as they can and Luna, having an easily accessible portal back to her box, had been quick to take advantage of it.

Casting his all seeing eye back even further, he finds her, on her bed, buried beneath her pillow, with only the tip of her quivering tail peeking out.

Silently he appears behind her, going over and gently removing the pillow, Gathering her into his arms before she can "pop" away again.

"Luna, darling, you aren't in trouble. Not at all. I'm sorry I forgot to tell you to only do one loaf. Please, don't cry."

Sobbing she buries her head into his shirt and that is when he learns the hard way that black dragon tears are more than a touch acidic.

Even as her tears hiss into his flesh, Kero is still apologizing to his daughter, slowly carrying her to a rocking chair and sitting down, rocking back and forth in time with his words.

Finally she begins to calm down, only to start anew as she sees what her tears have done to him.

"I sowwy... I sowwy... I sowwy.... I no mean to huwt you.... Sowwy..." she moans trying to wipe the trears from his skin, only her renewed tears and efforts only serve to make the burns even larger.
