Her skin crawls a ittle bit, but finally her curiosity gets the better of her and she runs a cautious hand across his belly. "Dey feel kind of bumpy..." she murmurs trying to figure out why they feel like they do.

Gently, Kero flexes his scales, showing her how the scales on his belly can grip and crawl over things.
"They act just like paws and claws, Luna. They let me grip the ground so I can slither along. I can move in one of three ways. I can moves straight along, I can slither, or I can sidewind."

"Showwww me..." she demands looking exceedingly thoughtful. She hops up on her chair and waits for him to demonstrate how a snake moves.

And so he does, starting out by scraping his scales in a series of waves along the ground, propelling himself forward at a steady pace in a straight line.
"This is called the caterpillar motion, Luna. Slow and steady, but doesn't use a lot of energy."
Then, suddenly, he zips across the room, slithering in the classic "S" pattern so well known to snakes and those who watch them.
"This is slithering. Much faster, but much much more energy used."
And finally, he begins throwing his body up into the air, in a strange sideways motion.
"And this is sidewinding. Can you guess where the snakes that use this type of motion live, Luna?"

Luna frown slightly, thinking hard. "Whar the gwound nots hawd? Buff slippewy? Hawd to gwab wiff dos tiny tings whan slippewy..." she adds with a grin. "You need wings... wike me."

Laughing, Kero sprouts wings and flies over, coiling around her and giving her a snakey hug.
"Like thisssssss, my little lady?"

She cocks her head to one side and giggles. "You awmoss wook wike Mama Wy.... onwy she gets wots biwger, huh?"

Suddenly something snatches him by the tail, jerking him away from around the tiny dragon and slamming him up against the stone of the cavern wall.
"Daddy!" cries Luna in alarm, but she's so darn dizzy from being forcibly spun around, she can't fly just yet.
"Daddy? Kero? Is that you?" calls Tes cautiously only slightly lowering her hands and the levin bolt she had conjured there.

Slowly, Painfully, Kero turns back into his normal self, smiling at Tes.
"Um...Yeah."

The draconic slowly lets the bolt disintergrate between her hands and shakes her head in wonderment. "Why, in the name of the egg, were you running around like that and wrapped about Luna?"
Luna, having recovered, flies to his side and nudges him carefully. "You ok, Daddy? Why Mama twow you cwoss da woom?"

Groaning, Kero picks himself and Luna up, cradling the little dragon close to himself as he walks over to Tes.
"Luna was curious about snakes, so I decided to give her a close up of how one looks, moves, and feels. And then I decided to give her a snakey hug as well, after she made a little comment about wings."

Tes shakes her head with a twisted smile. "All this after telling me about yesterday and warning me there were snakes in the region. Sharp, my love... very very sharp. You should know I strike first and ask questions later when danger appears."
"Mama fawst..." laughs Luna with a grin,m giving him a gentle nibble on the chin.

"Yes, Mama very very fawst, Luna." Kero grumbles halfheartedly, looking at his wife with a non-serious glare. "Although I wish Mama weren't quite so fast. That hurt, you know."
"You shouldn't have been wrapped around Luna, then." Replies Tes. "How was I to know you weren't trying to hurt her?"
"By my wings, silly." laughs Kero. "You ever see a snake with wings like that before? I made them, and then flew over to give Luna a snakey hug."
With that, he picks up Luna and gives her another hug, holding her tight in his arms as he cuddles her close.

Tes shakes her head. "Kero, if you had seen even half the creatures I've seen in my journeys to fill my menagerie... winged snakes seem rather tame by comparison and a whole lot more sensible... What am I saying, you've seen them all, surely you know that they do exist... on some worlds."
Walking over with Nimbus in her arms she gives Luna a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Sorry if I scared you Luna."
"Dats ok... I nowt huwt... Daddy needs a kiws tho.... he gots the bumpy."
Laughing Tes leans over and kisses Kero's head as well. "There, does that make it feel better?" she teases gently with laughter in her eyes.
