The Small Island

The soldier looked at the woman's own keyblade, then at his own, before stowing it.
"I...see. How about I don't get rid of my gun? This....key-blade, while it proved useful for taking out these creatures at close range, is useless for anything out of arm's reach. And I will repeat. These things seem as easy to kill with any weapon, though I will admit that the keyblade was very... efficient for a melee weapon. What do you have against guns anyways?"

The soldier put his rifle up, and pulled out a submachine gun. Aiming at the tree, he let fly, sending a flurry of rounds at the tree until finally, he had splintered the bark so much that the tree fell over.

"Yeah. Weak. Sure....Listen. I understand that these blades are out of the ordinary. Maybe they are more powerful than a bullet. But I've been trained my entire life to handle these guns. I can make them do things that no normal person could dream of doing. These....Key-blades may be the best weapon to fight the Heartless and the Nobodies, but I can make a gun work just as well. Don't get me wrong, I know that there will be points where the Keyblade will be more effective, but I'm more comfortable with what I already know how to use."

The soldier shook his head.
"No thanks, I've better things to do than listen to some girl lecture me on weapon superiority. I'll learn how to use this blade on my own time. And yes, they're futile all right. In your hands. I doubt you could barely hold this rifle anyways, let alone use it effectively. As for ammo, this ship can make all the ammunition I'll ever need. Now, if you don't mind...."
The ramp retracted back into the ship, taking the soldier with it. Once inside, the soldier stowed his weapons, and walked back to the bridge of the ship. As he was walking, a hologram of a young, white-haired boy appeared beside him, walking in pace. When the boy spoke, he had a light Irish accent.
"Wow. Our first encounter with someone of this world, and she's as naive as she gets, preaching about how these blades are superior to everything...."
The soldier looked at the boy, and nodded.
"No kidding. Someone should make her understand that a weapon is only as good as its wielder. Just because my guns aren't fancy keys doesn't mean that they're weak. I doubt that she's ever faced down an entire army of Covenant Elites, each wielding an Energy Sword. She would cut and run the second they deactivated their Active Camouflage."
"She did make a valid point, though. These so-called Keyblades are something of a mystery. Yours obviously shows makings of the UNSC, but there is no documented development of a weapon like that ever being produced. And the demonstration of the fire and ice...that's way beyond our capabilities."
"I'll agree with you there..."
The soldier summoned his blade again, looking it over.
"I dunno what this thing is, but it seems to pack one hell of a punch when wielded right. I'll have to do some practice with it so I can use it right.....still, I heavily doubt that it will ever replace a rifle..."
"Yes. Speaking of which, the ammunition synthesis plant is up and running now. Just bring in a good amount of metal and other resources every now and then, and I can keep you stocked."
"Good. Thanks, Aingel. With your help, we may just make it back home. And find out what happened to the rest of our crew."
"No problem, Blaize. Now, let's get out of here. Next stop, a lovely little town called Radiant Gardens!"
The ship's engines suddenly flared again, and it roared off, ascending into the sky before disappearing through a portal similar to what it came from.
