Happened to me on a few occasions but, y'know what? I'm legal. Plus, I generally look older than I am. They just happened to catch me when I was wearing a couple of my hair pieces as "pigtails". rolleyes

retice I'm too much of a wuss to buy yaoi too. I'll be eighteen in less than a month, but I'd probably still be too embarrassed. sweatdrop As a cashier at a comic book store, the only time I really pay attention to people buying porn is when they're obviously embarrassed and trying to somehow pretend they're not buying porn. Or they stammer and/or use ridiculous euphemisms for pornography. This happens a lot since I'm a girl and most male customers think that I'm going to freak out if I see they're buying B*tch in Heat or something like that. So yeah I find it funny when I hear fangirls say they're embarrassed to buy yaoi. I've bought and sold it many times. Most cashier don't care as long as there's no drama involved. So proudly buy your yaoi... if you're of age of course. XDDDD

Never!!! And the place I was (still am) buying my yaoi from knew I was under age at the time!!! They just love me!

If you're embarrassed to get mild BL titles at the bookstore, how the heck can you expect to go to a Con and dig around through the delicious doujinshi boxes? Well, if you're not 18, you won't be digging through the boxes period without id (some people actually do care who they sell to).
I've never been carded for my BL purchases, but I've always been old enough to buy them anyway so it really doesn't matter. Most booksellers seem to be completely oblivious of what they have on their hands anyway. I've mentioned to employees that they have porn on their shelves that someone ripped the plastic off of and they just shrug cause they don't seem to realize that yeah, it is really porn.

I've been carded once. But I think it was because I was using my debit card and not cause of what I was buying. Some stores demand ID when you're going to use plastic. I've carded kids before at work. The way the regi system is set up at work, there's no way I won't know pr0n when it comes to me. Also I think it's really bad at large bookstore chains. Most cashiers (who might do nothing more than work the register) just have to swipe the bar code to get the price of the book. They don't have to look at it. And yaoi manga usually looks so innocuous at first sight that most cashiers just don't notice (especially if there's a long line of people waiting to get checked out).

My friends bought umpteenmillion yaoi volumes (the plastic wrapped ones too) from Borders when they were under-aged and they've never been IDed.

The con I goto every year I swear doesnt care about age.. Im 14 now 13 at the time and got away with buying two death note doujinshis ^^ Other then that.. Im not embarrased to buy.. nor do people ever say anything.. even my sister doesnt care anymore..

heheh, one time when I went to buy yaoi (it was actually more shounen-ai) my dad came along with me. I ran out of cash so my dad helped me buy the rest...seriously he got the whole set of the series for me eek . And once more he had no idea that it was boy x boy love xd xd , which is actually a good thing since he's slightly homophobic. And that was when I was just getting into yaoi too. mrgreen

Never when I was under 18 years old and only buying manga and dvds. But, baby, you better believe that once I turned 18 I was ID'd at least three times a month for the other stuff I'd buy (games!). xd
I can't help that Absolute Obedience has such naughty, naughty pictures in it. But ooooh is it a good game. xp
