I almost feel ashamed to say this but I realy like a lot of their clothing ^-^'' Most people at my school dont know its gwen steffani so I can hold my head up high. I have A LOT of purses. I found these hatajuku <3's clips at sanrio the other day that were realy cute~ one is an icecream and one is a cupcake and they both have pink bells on them ^o^ ( I spent 90$ at sanrio that day, the employees must have wondered)

I just bought a Harajuku Lovers bag today. It was severely reduced, (to fourteen dollars) and I wouldn't have paid full price, but I think that some of the items from the label are cute.

I know that it can misrepresent Harajuku to some Americans, but really, the only people who would consider Harajuku a brand are the perpetually misinformed.

So who really cares what they think, anyway?

I don't know much about Gwen Stefani at all, but I read that she named the label Harajuku Lovers because when she took her first trip to Tokyo in 1996, she admired the "self-expression and individual style of Japanese youth."

Maybe she's lying, or maybe she messed up her interpretation, but I think it's a nice sentiment and I'm willing to give anyone I don't know personally the benefit of the doubt.

Wow that turned into a pointless ramble...

rubbish, shes so unoriginal

Everyone is unoriginal. After all the creative endeavors over the years, it's hardly possible to be truly original anymore. Shakespeare based Romeo and Juliet on a poem, and Lolita is based on Victorian and Rococo era fashion.

Im sure most people said this but I agree, I mean, she doesnt really portay the whole idea of the look :/

If you look up the styles, its much more complex than that (in my opinion). Besides her stuff are toooo expensive when it doesnt even look that pricy to begin with. At least lolita dress look like they are worth 100 dollars or more!!!!

blarg.
I belive she is focusing on one point in harajuku, I mean dont ya think it would be kind of hard to portray all of harajuku in one fashion line? XD It would be all over the place! sweatdrop
I praise her for bringing that little bit of it into a fashion line ^_^ There are so many diffrent fashions and styles in harajuku it would be and extreme mental task to find some way to pull all of those fashions together, and make it work.

Plus some of the print on her bags are kind cute rofl Kind like Tokodoki ^^

points for trying biggrin

I love tokidoki! My friend brought me back a tokidoki teeshirt from Thailand. I think it might be a knockoff... but it's still cute!

Oh, sorry, off topic...

Ah. Well that's probably true, but I haven't met her, so I don't for sure.

Besides, even if I don't like the creator, that doesn't mean I have anything against the creation. Like, most people weren't too thrilled with Nixon, but he still opened communications with China. Yay for ping-pong dilomacy!
